I'm right on the verge between a shirt and getting into the power bank/other goodies range. Decisions, decisions...

Interesting that this year, SK day is open to the world instead of it being a just a Garage Journal event by where the rules were posted. :dunno:

so with this SK day, where do I order and it's still for the 30th?

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

For everyone that has absolutely no idea what I am talking about and is wondering what they need to do to participate, as well as other logistical concerns, here are four important points to remember:

(1) SK Day is actually not just one day.

It is the entire last weekend in October (Friday 30th, Saturday 31st, Sunday 1st).

Order SK stuff on our website during that time and you are participating in SK Day, or I guess it would be more accurately described as SK Dayz!

(2) If you are interested in the freebies, let us know that your order is an SK Day order.

You can do this in the comments section when you checkout.

If you are paying with PayPal you’ll have to send us an email saying something like, “Hey, this is Little Jimmy and Order 444 is for SK Day!”

(3) Be sure to include your shirt size if you qualify for a shirt.

(4) We will be inundated with orders, so it will take us a few days to get our bearings, so we might be a little uncommunicative right after that weekend, but don’t worry, even though you won’t hear from us, we will be busy getting your order ready.

If there is a backorder situation, we will contact you as quickly as possible to let you know a realistic time frame for receiving the order.

Here is the official post:

SKTools.jpg

The leaves are turning yellow. A chill is in the air. The squirrels are starting to get nervous that they didn’t store enough nuts for the winter. Ah yes, the cycle of the seasons is upon us and here at Epstein’s we are faced with yet another event that marks the passing of time, SK Day.

It seems only yesterday that we were running around like crazy trying to fill all of the SK orders from our friends at Garagejournal. This event, started by the members of GJ, is not about getting deals or cheaper prices, but is focused on celebrating US manufacturing and the people who are committed to it. (That’s us!) Even so, we still like to help out when we can, and this year we’ve got some pretty good freebies to throw in, little ways that we can say thank you for all your support.

Screen-Shot-2015-10-22-at-2.34.32-PM.png

($0-$99 of SK Stuff) – That’s right. Even if you don’t spend a bunch of money, we are still gonna give you something. Every SK Day order gets an HJE Sticker and an “I’m Sorry I Spent All of Our Money on Tools” Gift Card, drawn by the immeasurably talented Charlie Mylie.

skday.jpg

($100-$249 of SK Stuff) – You spend at least $100 bucks, you are going to get all of that stuff previously mentioned and the US made custom designed Garagejournal SK Day T-shirt (While supplies last).

skpowerbank.png

($250-$499 of SK Stuff) – All the stuff previously mentioned plus SK has donated some “Power Banks”. Normally these things are kinda junky, but the one’s they sent us are real heavy and substantial. Good for charging cell phones and anything that can plug into a USB port. We are also receiving coffee mugs, water bottles, little screwdrivers, etc, so we will throw in other SK merch as well. I’ll post more pics when the other goodies come in. (While supplies last)

3pcidealset1.png

($500 & Up of SK Stuff) – All the stuff previously mentioned plus we are going to throw in a 3 Piece Cushion Grip Wrench/Plier Set from SK’s parent company Ideal Industries. Set includes a 6″ and 8″ adjustable wrench and a flush 6″ slip joint pliers. All US made.

Any questions please feel free to ask. Hope everyone has a safe and happy SK Day Weekend!

You know it was an end of the day decision that I didn't fully think through. If you guys want me to take it down from the blog and have it only be available to Garagejournal, I'll do it. Or I could just offer the 10% off without the freebies, if the worry is that you might lose out on shirts, etc. I'm open to whatever you guys think is fair.

(Note: I temporarily removed it from the blog, awaiting your responses.)

I'd say keep it open to all. The whole point of these events is to support local companies. The more the merrier. As for the limit on available shirts, well - the early bird gets the worm. These events aren't supposed to be about discounts or freebies. They're about the companies that support the local and national economy. And to bring more awareness to manufacturers that support "Made in USA". Opening the event to all helps to spread the word.

Leave it open. More business for a company committed to selling quality USA made tools and more business for a company committed to making quality USA made tools.

Leave it open......I'd venture to say the majority of your online clients are members here anyway.
Buy some cases of beer for the walk ins and put some signage out front of the shop too.

Since Harry J. Epstein and SK are running this show, whatever they think is the best is fine with me. Freebies or across the board discount, exclusively to the GJ or worldwide, it's really their choice how they want to present this promotion.

I could understand if some of you are concerned about missing out on some of freebies though. Who know, maybe they will offer a choice between freebies and discount but that's not my call.

Why would we want to block people who don't know about our forum from taking part? Isn't the whole point of this to support SK and HJE? More people knowing means more support for them.

Also, letting more people know about this, and the fact that it grew out of this forum, also lets more people know about the GJ forum.

I would let everyone participate. The whole idea is to buy US made tools from a good US local business.

Just to clarify, I'm pretty sure that the official post reads this way but...

If you buy 100$ worth of SK stuff, but not the stuff that is on sale it still qualifies for the freebies right? It's any money spent on SK regardless of on sale or not. You just have to hit the total.

Any SK stuff on our website counts towards the freebies, regardless of whether it is on sale or a closeout, etc.

Ok, thats pretty cool.

As much as I wanted to get in on SK Day and the 10% discount, the stuff I wanted most wasn't on your discount list. I figured I would just buy the stuff I wanted and help boost the numbers for the day.

Now I get to look forward to a t-shirt too!

Pretty awesome.

Again, keep up the great work at HJE.

Any chance of including a link to Garage Journal on the blog so that the uninformed may check out and possibly join GJ?

That 6096 indexing pry bar set stock photo looks incorrect for the lengths. Got excited for a second thinking they were 20"+. Should probably be closer to this

Good catch:thumbup: I have the two smaller bars in that set and they are pretty handy and comfortable to use. the lengths are overall lengths so, no one needs to think they're getting a long pry bar with the 6096 set.:dunno:

To me and just me, I don't care if you open it up to anyone and everyone that wants to buy SK tools. I do feel though that the official SK Daze announcement should have been posted here first in its entirety and then on the Epstein's blog. Although it may have been easier to post a link here to your dispatch, we're the mopes that started this event and always ask many questions and deserve to see the full text announcement instead of a link but, again that's just me... the shirts look OUTSTANDING!!! by the way.

Do they hold up well to abuse? I mean, they're job is prying on stuff, abuse is what they do.

I just picture myself cranking on one and having the little circle that holds the bar at angle give out, while I wack my chin off a rotor or something, and collapse to the floor. The Matco ones I handled seemed alright, but I just couldn't bring myself to trust them.

My 4 year old son and I were in there back in July....he saw this and said "hey, that's the nice man that showed us the tool store"
I about fell out of my chair, can't believe he remembered him!

Feel bad I can't remember his name, but please tell him how much we appreciated the tour. My little guy still talks about it!
Hope you have a 30" 1/2 breaker bar left for me!

Thanks for doing this for us!

I would like to know for sure. I'll probably be up that late. If not, I'll just get up 15 minutes earlier before I leave for work.

His name's Dan. I'll let him know. Thanks!

I hear you.. don't want to stay up that late, but even in my older years I am a sucker for scoring a free tee shirt.

BTW... which time zone??

Central time zone

He's already sold it to ensure a Royals WS victory.

Yes and it's already working.

Well despite the fact I work that same day, I know I am staying up late to make sure I obtain a USA made SK Day shirt. Something tells me there will be an influx of people doing the same and I hope so.

Has SK Day or days since this going on for three days, been posted anywhere else to bring more attention to this day? With events such as these, the more the better for us all in the long run.
