Kinda fell behind on this thread. Here's a few I've picked up recently-ish.

Old craftsman (late 30s), I have the larger version of this as well that has side handles instead of a top handle.

1956 snap on KR-25A, heavy box, needs some love, might repaint, but hate to lose the decal. At least the tray was there. Wish it had side handles like the modern KRA25s.

Interesting one, a Bell Systems small box, actually a snap on produced KR-259, 1962

Small 1/4" SK socket box

Finally a VERY old and in need of some help, Mac tools box. No drawer slides, I'd put it in the 1930's. Interesting tray design.

Here's a Hazet Assistent clone (Buffalo, Taiwan made from the 70's or 80's I believe). It now has folding pillars that have couplings I made. Mixed feelings.

Very cool. That clone of the assistant is cool. Being a clone you won't feel bad about doing anything to it to make purest mad.

Thanks guys, nothing crazy special, but unique enough to where I thought others would like to see them. I was a bit surprised to see a bell systems stamped snap on box.

Was hoping someone would have a similar mac box, or at least more info on it.

Craftsman top and bottom "Heritage" boxes from CL for $100. The top box has original key and is in excellent condition, while the bottom box is missing the front cover and has a few dings but is otherwise is in excellent condition. Neither box has any rust to speak of. The top box has its original Craftsman Heritage logo underneath the yellow decal. I used a hair dryer on it today and managed to get much of it off.

I took a bunch of photos this afternoon, but my laptop is and camera aren't on speaking terms today. Will try to figure it out when I have more time.

Photos from CL ad.

On my site is one very similar, but thought to be Cornwell. Also reorganized my shop a bit this weekend and found one of those small SO hand carry boxes like yours, which I also posted.

I have yet to come across any ~20s-40s Mac/Cornwell documentation for tool boxes. :headscrat:

Edit, I can't recall even seeing a Mac box as old as that one ATM.

ZK: nice old boxes. i found one of those Hazet knock offs about a year ago and i don't have the right space to use anything like that so JeremyB owns it now after we traded something. those Hazet ones are damn expensive so the knock offs even get a good chunk of change if they work correctly. i've only seen the one in person like yours and a guy in my area that buys up every Hazet actually has 4 in his work van i saw when he came over to buy something from me for his shop.

Riley: not sure your top box is a Craftsman so curious to hear what the guys think after you post a few close ups of the slides and logo. it looks like it fits nicely on the old Craftsman roller so nice find.

The SIM card in my camera is toast so I won't be taking any more photos today. The top box has a Craftsman logo/badge hidden behind the yellow decal on the front of the cover and appears to be original. Here's the last few photos I was able to salvage.

Not exact a tool box, but a box tools were once sold in. I thought it's pretty cool, cleaned and waxed it, but not sure what I'm going to use it for yet.

Most of that Pratt & Whitney logo is still there, but the rest is hard to make out.

Can't really make out that tag either, but was sold to a company in Philadelphia.

I love the wooden box. Regardless of what the box was originally used for, any one of us could find a use for it. Grats on the find!

The rest of the logo is"West Hartford Conn." My father was a lifer there and I served my toolroom machinist apprenticeship there and my first five years in production engineering.
Interesting side note. Pratt & Whitney Aircraft started in leased space in the old Pratt & Whitney plant in Hartford and usurped the name as it was an old respected name in industry at that time.

Thanks! Yeah I owe him big, I remember seeing wood boxes like these at sears when I was younger and always wanted one but those were never this quality. I put a coat of wood wax on it and put it on my main bench, I've added a few of my calipers, micrometers and dial indicators to the set. Ill get some more pictures of the tool room receipts and other docs that are in it.

I was able to get this from my grandpa's shop a couple of month's ago when we cleaned his shop out a few years after he had passed away. I got some miscellaneous stuff, but this is probably my favorite. I just recently opened it up and went through everything.

It's just an old Craftsman, nothing special. But it was filled with all kinds of tools. I haven't decided whether I should clean it up and organize all of the tools in with my others, or leave it like it is and just enjoy it like it sits knowing that that is how he left it.

Spotted this one when I was buying some other items from a person on CL, got them to throw it in with the deal. My Son got it for helping me move the stuff I bought. I had never seen the green before. Now we are on the hunt for the matching top box.

Grats on the find! As you can see a few posts ago, I got a similar one last week but I honestly don't know how common/uncommon they are. Until I purchased mine, I hadn't run across one on CL over the past 6 months I've been searching.

Cheers!

Rillysan: I found this bottom box on CL and when I posted it here Drives said that what I needed was a top box to go on it. Thanks Drives! Since then I have stumbled across a couple.

Mr. Neuman: as i recall i offered to buy your bottom box and you twisted my arm to have me drive to Portland so you could buy mine and have that awesome duo. if you ever decide to let them go don't forget to email me and give me a shot.

SS: nice old Craftsman roller.

DD: that Gertsner looks sweet and that book is the bible to a machinist. nice find and great friend too.

Gerstner actually sells an oil for their boxes. I'm sure the oil can be had elsewhere but as I recall it was cheap. I do not think it had any wax but it does make the box look great. They can also ident the year for you. Check out their web site.

The red roll-away is 1983 I believe and the black one not sure. The older one on the left was bought in 1990 and it was old then. I have since consolidated both red boxes into the black one...yeah it all fit and now I can actually find stuff without digging. :headscrat I have since sold the larger red one and deciding whether to sell the older red one. I bought it the same year my daughter was born so have a sentimental attachment sort of.:dunno: My 2 year grandson loves my tools!

Mr. Neuman: I doubt that day will ever come, but thanks just the same. those 2 boxes were long lost brothers and i should have taken a picture of the dirty farm's bench i rescued that top box from.

SRR: nice boxes and is that your son or grandson? is that is own tools too or are you planning on playing hide and seek with him trying to find them later?

Twertsy
: that Costco rack is plenty beefy to hold all those even full of tools if they are, but the way you are buying these you'll need a 12 foot tall with 8 foot wide and 3 or 4 foot deep commercial racks soon. or maybe that's the plan for the new shop when you build one. thanks for sharing and your collection is growing faster than anybody's that posts them here that i've seen.

ALL: some of you have already posted over on the no name or other types of metal tool boxes and storage cabinets and would like to see more. here's the link and post up as many pictures as you want. some of you have so many that you could probably make your own thread so take up as many posts in this thread as you like with 20 or more pictures if you have a lot of them.

my new to me 1972 combo! 3rd owner, the first owner only had it for a week before he snagged a Snap On box in early '73. Haven't taken it out of the car yet, but no dents or dings, a tad bit of rust, nothing major. Red's all in good shape but the gray needs to be resprayed. Pretty solid for being 43 years old!

Edit: Top is a 65262, mid a 65212, and bottom a 65039. Top and bottom both stamped 11/72!
