May have been stated, but looks like auction only now.
Think there is one BIN @ $249.00

^ -- this $95 Buy it Now is still up (at least for now) ----v

Heh, fwiw, the account 's_sylsy_simqvty' who Hiball bought from who does have multiple feedback from previous buyers just added a new listing for $94.99 "More than 10 available / 1 sold".

http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-Ton-Dayto...ck-Super-Duty-Brand-New-/122208177968?vxp=mtr

I wonder if ebay will try to remove that listing too? Seems they are scrubbing them only because they look like a deal too good to be true.

Wow, all this "spies among us" innuendo (both the SO people who started this thread to benefit their HF lawsuit and the eBay scammers using this thread to lure GJ members to their ebay ad) reads like a whodunit novel.

I anxiously await to see how this ends. Where's my popcorn?

Just bought two lol. One for $100 shipped and the other for $94.99 from sylsy. Let's see what happens :bounce:

Absolutely don't need them as I already have two and a Rotary; but I know I'll kick myself if these become NLA

As others have said: it does look like HF is involved in dumping these through non-corporate channels.
Regardless of the reason [design change or defect or whatever] it certainly looks like they are dumping them out the back door: while there is pending litigation with Snap-On over said product. No doubt Snap-On will take notice and may amend their legal filings accordingly. Despite what the real reason may be for the sale of jacks on eBay, a "reasonable assumption" may be to cut losses due to the lawsuit [HF takes a bath on the jacks but unloads them all without actually having them go out the front door of stores, to show that the jacks sold via retail in low numbers when the records are examined]. A reasonable assumption along with a jack bought off of eBay with tracking that says 'shipping from HF' on it, is all Snap-On needs to pursue discovery on these sales.

And it goes without saying that since an earlier version of this thread was submitted as evidence: you can bet your chinese-made jack that Snap-On is still watching this thread.

.....So it remains to be seen if anyone actually receives a jack.

Something tells me that if anyone wants to grab the Daytona jack they had better do so while they still can.

I received a little more tracking info this morning, but now it shows as to be expected delivery tomorrow. I was really looking forward to getting this thing later today.

Still, I shouldn't be too disappointed, as that's a lot better than the week or so from now it would have taken if the thing would have been shipped via UPS Surepost like the ebay listing said it was going to be. I'm not a fan of UPS Surepost and FedEx Smartpost, where they dump the thing off to USPS for the final part of the delivery. Tracking gets buggy, no 'expected' delivery date is typically given, and items sometimes sit for days in one location when they get to where they make the transition from UPS/FedEx to USPS, and most worrisome is the packages almost always look more beaten up than usual.

I think the consensus is that they are shipping from the actual HF distribution center in Dillon, SC. My guess is that hackers are using some sort of illicit funds (stolen credit cards/stolen gift cards) to purchase them and using hacked Ebay accounts to essentially to launder those funds. Others think its HF trying to unload them because of a pending Snap On lawsuit but why would they use an army of random sellers across the US with many are accounts are now flagged for being compromised and have no previous selling experience for a product that is selling off the shelves in the retail stores... Anyone that knows HF also knows they ship using FedEx so why would they even put any other shipping method if this was somehow sanctioned by HF.

I was watching this thread as I was looking to purchase the 3 ton Daytona floor jack.

After following this thread I found several on eBay for under $100 which was cheaper than the one I was going to purchase from Harbor Freight.

I purchased a 3 ton Daytona floor jack from an eBay seller on Monday and within a few hours received an email from eBay stating the seller's account had been compromised.

I spoke with eBay and they assured me I would get my money back from the bogus purchase.

I then purchased another 3 ton Daytona floor jack from a different seller on Tuesday and again, within hours received a similar email from eBay about this sellers' account being compromised.

I had to call eBay again and talked with a representative about these bogus purchases.

Long story short, I ended up buying the 3 ton Daytona jack from Harbor Freight last night ($179 + shipping & tax) as I was Not going to deal with a third bogus eBay seller.

I just thought I would let everyone know.

Take care.

I was going to buy one of the Daytonas at the local HF store but they were sold out. I asked the guy if they had any in the back and he said "no, as soon as they come in they sell out. We're getting a truck in tomorrow morning with some but i expect them to be gone by the end of the day, if not noon." So if the local HF cant even keep these jacks in stock at $200, why are they getting dumped at $95 on ebay?? Seems a little odd.

I ended up getting the 3 ton aluminum jack instead to replace my leaking craftsman 3.5 ton but after tearing that one down i'm just replacing some seals and now i'll have 2. I was reading another thread about the seals on hydraulic jacks and what i found with the craftsman was it probably wasnt so much a seal issue, but the quality of the finish on the piston. There were fine scratches and other blemishes on the finish, far from a nice chrome finish on a quality piston. So years of abrasion did it in.

I doubt HF is so desperate at this point that they need to hack into inactive eBay accounts to move their product. I'm not a lawyer but IMO SO is ******* up a rope with their weak "it looks like ours!" lawsuit.

Maybe someone has hacked into HF shipping warehouse and is arranging for these to be drop-shipped without having to actually pay HF for them. Why Daytona jacks & Predator engines? Might be a warehouse employee who knows what/how much is overstocked at any given time.

It's ALL conjecture...I just felt like contributing my own ;-)

Just purchased one from this seller. Hope it comes through. Didn't even really need another jack, but if it comes through, I'll try and sell my Arcan I bought at Costco.

Yep... Harbor freight is even in on it.. Ha.. I've only received tracking showing that the shipment info has been sent, Doesn't appear Fed ex has taken possession yet. I used seller s_sylsy_simqvty YMMV.

Looking at her (s_sylsy_simqvty) feedback I think it's LEGIT. There are a bunch of positive ratings from longtime sellers.

Has anyone else that purchased the 3 ton Daytona floor jack on eBay been contacted that the purchase was bogus due to the sellers account being compromised?

Why?

See below. Time to request a refund.

You were recently involved in a transaction for the following item:
172389915333 - 3 Ton Daytona Professional Steel Floor Jack - Super Duty - Brand New ***

We’re writing to let you know that an unauthorized third party may have accessed the seller’s account to list this item. The item has been removed from the site, and the transaction was cancelled. We ask that you take the following precautions:

- If you already paid for the item, you may be protected by eBay. Open a request with the Resolution Center and choose, "I bought an item. I haven't received it yet." You can access the Resolution Center by visiting:
http://resolutioncenter.ebay.com

I already got my money back even though Ebay cancelled the transaction for fraud, they still wanted me to go to the resolution center to contact the seller and allow 7 days for it to be resolved. Their whole customer service is built around not being able to get in contact with them and that you jump through all the hurdles before you talk to a real person. Even then they said they had to investigate the issue even though they were the ones who flagged it and cancelled the transaction. I had to argue with them that there is no need for an investigation and ******** pull the money back now while its still available. Perhaps I would have gotten my money back either way but the process is far from reassuring.

The one thing the scammers didn't realize is that there is a long hold on new sellers before the funds are finalized.

I'm glad it worked out for you.... and your post has some useful info for anyone else who is trying to get money back from this scam.

Currently there are about 6-8 Daytona floor jack ads on eBay that look very suspicious, like the bogus sellers I ordered from.

I wanted to see if I was the only one that ran into this problem or if someone had found a legitimate seller who had them for less than HF.

Yes, I got that same message email, and so did koviak (see post #398) but just like with koviak my jack was already on the way. I had already paid for it and already had a tracking number & the shipper is Harbor Freight.

I haven't received it yet, Acc'd to FedEx it should be here tomorrow, but it's pretty safe to say that the listing was not bogus and it seems that ebay is freaking overreacting I can only assume based on the fact so many different sellers are listing the same item which sounds too good to be true so one by one they just started removing the listings. wtf ebay?

I sat on the phone with ebay customer service for more than 1/2 hr last night to complain that they removed the listing for no good reason. Don't guess it did any good. The listing is still voided and now when it does get here none of the thirty-plus people who ordered from him will be able to give buyer feedback to the seller.

What AA and LB are getting at is that there are multiple reports in this thread of the email you asked about.

I will admit I did not go through all 23 pages, so that was my bad.

Thanks for clearing that up, I am still trying to catch up with the thread.

Again, sorry for the confusion.

I and many others have speculated that Harbor Freight may be trying to dump these due to the lawsuit from Snap-On, but we're just guessing. What is evident, for whatever the reasons, is Harbor Freight has chosen to liquidate a lot of these jacks (and Predator engines also as reported in this thread) in double-digit batches through third-party sellers. That is not uncommon at all. Amazon, WalMart, Rite Aid, heck, every large company does similar from time to time to get rid of overstock, an older model just before or just after a newer model comes out, returned merchandise, etc, usually for pennies on the dollar. That's exactly what is happening here. Why? You'd probably have to be at Harbor Freight to know for certain.

Lets try this again - I know why you ask - I was replying to the post made by AA/FC

I posted this >< in response to a question from a brand new member who asked a question that was clearly answered in the previous few pages of this thread. It's obvious that Booky did NOT read any of the previous posts. If he had, ther would have been no reason to ask the question in the first place. That is all....

Got one this AM for $94 BIN. Will post my results if/when it arrives.

If shipping from Dillon, SC then it shouldn't take too long to get here since I'm in GA.

Yes, and when I looked, 8 out of 9 feedback were positive, and for the jack.
I'm still thinking of taking a chance with that seller too.

To everyone that received a tracking number, how long did it take to get one?

I ordered one jack 21hrs ago and received the eBay compromise email 19hrs ago

I ordered the other one from sylsy 18hrs ago and received the compromise email 1hr ago.

But I haven't received any tracking info from either.

Just received this:

We're writing to let you know that we've removed an item you recently won:
122208177968 - 3 Ton Daytona Professional Steel Floor Jack - Super Duty - Brand New ***

Since you've already paid for the item, you don't need to do anything else. If your item hasn't arrived yet, it should arrive soon. If it doesn't, then you'll want to open a case in our Resolution Center. You can learn how to do this, plus find timelines for opening cases, at:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/item-not-received.html

We wish you all the best on eBay and hope your future experiences are pleasant and successful. If you have questions, please click "Help & Contact" at the top of most eBay pages.

eBay still has lots of other great deals. Go to http://www.ebay.com to shop. We hope to see you soon.

Thanks,

eBay

I've received confirmation that my Jack has been accepted at Fed Ex (previously just label printed), "something" should here tomorrow, I'll report back. I also see where EBay has removed my sellers listings including the one I purchased, I wonder how much of these removed listings is because of the constant telephone pressure put on by GJ members versus the sellers being deceitful/scamming.

Note: I have yet to receive any confirmation from eBay claiming that they have removed a item, resolution center blah.. blah.

Its nearly impossible to get someone on the phone with eBay. Trust me I know but that was after my transaction was already cancelled and all I cared about was getting my money back. I am sure they have software that evaluates potential fraud factors such as changes to paypal address, ip address history/location, changes in activity, etc. I think the question is not if they are getting HF to ship these items but how.
