Decent deal for a top box?

That combo will run you about $350. I just bought the 27" top/bottom at HD for $199. It is a little smaller but runs a lot less money. I just installed the top on the cabinet and I've loaded all my DeWalt cordless, all of my pneumatics and most of my hand tools and still have a lot of space left.

The bottom is still at $149 but the top is reduced to $49 from $99:

Really?

Because as more and more people on this thread (and the supposed private forums) start seeing deals, I think the chance of .06 stuff making it to .03 while still being in stock will just dwindle away.

This thread is so far behind on the deals that I'm not worried about it. Unfortunately SD leeches have forced us underground.

Im just relaying what im told. i have been told several times by some here that i am not a good enough contributor for those types of places...one day, hopefully one day...

No way will you get on one of those super secret private boards. :lol_hitti

They don't exist anyway. :bounce:

Exactly. The DeWalt top box is still $124.00 here. I know I'm just crazy but I'm happy w 50% off. Plus I really needed it and it's helped me get organized. And as much as I hate DeWalt it's a lot of box for $124.

Remember the people who want to wait to the last second to pay the ABSOLUTE minimum are just looking to maximize profits when they re-sell it. So sure, hide the deals 'til they're a penny so some guy in your area can then put it back on your local CL at 80% of original retail.

Why would you pay $100 for something if you can get it for a penny? Anything more than .02/.03 level isn't a great deal. Sometimes .04 or .00 can be a good deal but most of the time they are not.

Again, sometimes its not because of the pricing as much as it is the inventory level.

If you want something and there is 1 left at .06, would you risk waiting for it to hit .03? If there are 100 left, sure, but 1 of something you need?

.06 level is usually some sort of good discount. .03 level seems to be something like 75% off. No reason to necessarily get greedy.

You assume it will sit there until it pennies out. "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush"

And for many, a two hour round trip to save $100 may not be worth it to some when you factor in gas and lost time on a treasure hunt for something that may not exist when they get there. To go 30 miles, I could easily spend three hours round trip and $15 on gas. Now I am down to saving $85 and that is really about $28 each hour. During that same period I could be working my side gig at $50 an hour, make $150, spend the extra $100, guarantee myself the item, and still have $50 in my pocket.

.06 is roughly 25%, they round up and throw a .06 at the end. Not a bad deal if you NEED it today. If you don't need it but would be nice to have then .03 is awesome. Penny, you can't go wrong. I like hunting pennies. Its a cheap hobby and can pay for other toys. Though I mostly just give it away. Every neighbor that's come over lately I give them 2-3 extensions cords to take home.

Also depends on the store. If you have a lazy store you can get .03 stuff thats just sitting out in the open if they never update the sticker like a few of mine. Had that happen today. Probably whey they were still sitting there.

Stopped at my local HD. This store refuses to sell .01 items. Walked down the vanity aisle and saw 4 boxes of the KOHLER
Willamette Pedestal Sink Basins with the yellow .01 sticker on them. Off to the side were the previous yellow stickers 88.00, 14.00.
. I've never seen HD intentionally mark items for a penny.

This sticker prints out automatically. Most of the times they trash the sticker and pull the item. Should have taken one to SCO to see what would happen.

Found a chandelier and a couple of the pass thru ratchets. No sockets though. Hopefully I can find some. Ignore the wall plates that I actually needed.

Did Norwood, MA have anymore of those?

You have so much to learn about the HD hunt.

Because once it hits a penny its not going to last. If I really want something I'll buy it a 25% off. I like to hit the 50% off mark but then the item usually is gone. ITs pretty rare in my AO to find anything more that 25% off. Once I found small boxes of roofing nails ata penny. Thats it. I thought I found the ECHO Timber Wolf chain saw at a penny but I was wrong

I wouldn't walk across the street for .06 pricing at HD. That price is probably the same price amazon or ebay has it all the time.

Just picked up a Weber 6742 BBQ thermometer at .03

Unfortunately now that I'm back home and reading reviews it looks like it is a bad product.

Those are terrible, I can get them in a few weeks for a penny (they are on the shelf, no clearance tag, regular sticker even though they are on clearance now). Even at a penny, I wouldn't waste the 4 cents on the ones at that particular store. I wouldn't even take them if they were free, they are that sh1tty.

Bring them back.

Man, I would love to have one of those 22ft ladders for $28... I'd just keep it in the attic for the once-a-year time I *might* need to use it... I already have the smallest version and it's plenty long as an extension ladder. Most of the time I just open it up as a little a-frame step to reach the ceiling... lol

I'm going to wander my store tomorrow, see if I can't find any somewhere else... I looked carefully at all the ladders in the front, even the ones up high and they were all the 300lb models...

Should have waited for them to penny...
And now they're gone, so whoever was waiting for them to penny lost them completely....

Guess when you don't have super deals on tool boxes the small stuff looks even better! Lol
