I wish I took a pic while I was in HD... I saw a couple shopping carts of items that someone printed a sheet that said to the effect "These items are no longer no homes..."

Someone needs to be taught the phrase "Double Negative"...

I'm pretty sure they meant 'no longer no-homes' as in the items now have a location to go in an aisle somewhere as opposed to not having somewhere to go, i.e. 'no-homes'.

At that point, I would have asked for a manager, and reported him.

There is usually no point, they'll just deny it and say they didn't see it when they checked.

This is pretty much sums it up.

The PCA showed an inventory of 0 for these, so the only evidence I actually had was the picture of the I took of the cart.

This store is one of the few in my area that still has a computer at CS specifically for customers and it's less than 10 minutes away from me. I've pretty much made it my home base and am in there several time a week for an hour or more checking prices at all the stores in my area.

It might be paranoid, but I'd hate to get on the managers bad side and have him turn the computer around on me. Although if the same would have happened to the welders, I would have definitely brought it to their attention.

Probably how they did the rocket lights as well. Bare tool and promo kit were the same price. I think the sku's were the same though but the upc's were different.

Yeap. "No Home" is a location and status in a sense.

Jealous of djr715's score on the welders I went and checked my local HD today. Sadly still at $429 here.

I vaguely remember someone else posting a welder being clearanced out months ago... SKU/UPC changeover I guess as the boxes looked the same.

The welders are being phased out of selected stores that are changing over from the contractor focused item assortments to the weekend warrior DIYer assortments. In the Austin and San Antonio markets it happened in a bunch of store 2 years ago, then again in another batch last October. Best bet for finding them is to hit up a store in an area that has gotten rather upscale in the last year or so.

Was at a store I hadn't been to in a while and found a gladiator display towards the front of the store all with yellow tags. Checked prices in the PCA and found this:

Found 1 in the overhead and the other on display with all the other gladiator stuff. Ended up getting both even though the AM wouldn't budge on the price of the display model.

How do you guys get access to the computer. The only computers I've seen are at the service desk and they're facing the other way. There are always a flock of employee's there

There are computers usually in the flooring, appliances, doors & windows, Pro desk area, etc... They are all over the store, just have to look...

I have yet to see any customer use computers at any of the HD's near me in Central California. All of the discounted products are placed on end caps and it's usually stuff that I wouldn't take if they gave it to me. So jealous of you guys in other states.

nath ah bahstan (as the locals say it) has an outward facing computer at the customer service desk. interestingly enough, there is not one at the PRO desk at the other end of the store.

being who i am, i assume that this means that HD thinks that PROs are too stupid to use computers, so they have the staff there do it for them, and think that the DIY customers must be smart enough to use a computer, because they must be getting guidance from somewhere. they can't be getting it from the PROs because all the PROs are waiting for the associates at the HD PRO desk to finish their breaks.

Here in vegas clearance is usually in special endcaps. Large items (table saws) are left where they are normally stocked, but if they go on clearance they sell quickly. I have literally never seen an item end in 06 or 03. All clearance items end in 00 and only have <10% taken off.

The only stuff on the endcaps is overpriced light bulbs. Some dewalt screwgun that refuses to sell at any HD, all boxes say missing battery. and random junk.

Penny items are sometimes in the clearance end cap. Love it when that happens. Most of the time you guys are right though, nothing but junk there.

Do you ask to use the computer? How do you go about looking up the clearance stuff on the computers?

I have very few stores in my area that actually have a computer at customer service for customers to use.

In stores that don't have one, you just have to belly up to one and start using it. It feels super awkward at first, but you get used to it.

Employees don't say anything to you about 80% of the time. The times they do you can either:

A) Make a logical argument and hope that they have the capability to think rationally.
B) Ask to speak to the manager
C) Leave and use a computer in another department.

Most of the time I just take option C.

I'd only go with B if you can't find a store anywhere that's cool with you using a computer.

This has been my experience. I found a couple of the Dewalt compressors a few weeks back in the overhead at a store I hadn't been to yet. I looked everywhere for a computer but this store had all of them turned around at the CS and Pro desks. I eventually used one in appliances to verify the price. When I was done this employee just stared me down and asked if I worked there or if I was a vendor. I told her no and kept walking. She just stood there with a lost look on her face and kept staring.

By the way if you're only looking on the clearance end caps, you're doing it wrong. The best deals are often the ones in the overhead that were forgotten about and never physically marked down.

^^^ This.... Can take some time searching through the computer (and online to see what other people's experiences / finds are), then going around the store staring up and looking at SKU's...

Every store does clearance items different, usually end caps, but some also have on the shelves in normal spots depending on size, quantity, available space, etc... I've seen ceiling fans marked down from like $100 to $11 IIRC...

I bought some 3-way feit LED light bulbs the other day, I think they were $3.83 each in my store's lighting clearance area, usually bulbs like that are ~$15... I also got a 30pk of T8 bulbs cheap... Sometimes there are decent finds in the clearance sections...

Oh yeah, I noticed the other day a ton of the masonry hand tools and such were on clearance sitting in their normal area of the store... YMMV of course...

I stumbled upon these ash vacs at $48.06. I know a cool guy would wait for .03 but I'm not that cool and have always wanted a legit ash vac.

They also had the Milwaukee 2130 tripod lights at $125.00 but not w the 5.0 promo kit. I passed as I already have one.

Not tools, but Dyson Ball and Animal ball are down from 399.99 to 100.03 and 499.99 to 125.03.

Haven't posted here in a while. Most of the stores around here don't have anything of any interest marked down

The Milwaukee lights with free battery at 125 dollars . Is that even a deal.. I think those are still expensive, I bet technology and Chinese copies would come out cheaper and better... Light led flashlights that also put MAG lite almost out of business..
50 dollars then I would be buyer..
