Picked this up on Sunday, I believe it to be a K-22 Snap On military box from the 1930s.

Not mine and no affiliation but perhaps there is someone closer than I am who might want what appears to be a very nice SK tool box. Frankly, if it was closer, I would likely have already bought it.

SK TOOL BOX VINTAGE - $150 (Bryan OH)

https://toledo.craigslist.org/tls/d/sk-tool-box-vintage/6241541236.html

I have a nice vintage SK tool box for sale. Made in Chicago and very good condition for its age. The bottom chest has 3 drawers and a large storage compartment and the top box has 6 drawers and a top storage compartment with the original carry along tool holder. The bottom chest measures 27Wx18Dx33H and the top box is 26x12x15. Has all the original drawer pulls and handles and the castors are smooth rolling. Original green finish is still good. Nice Vintage made in the USA piece that was well cared for. $150.00 firm and no the tools do NOT come with it. Please no calls/texts after 10PM.

Wow, that's really nice. I paid that for my stack but I got a CMan spinner too.

If that SK box set was anywhere even close to me I would be all over it.[emoji26] My hand tool collecting has inadvertently turned in a predominantly SK direction

Nothing wrong with going with S-K!

Are you planning to come to the swap meet in Brooks next weekend?

I finally finished the cleanup of the old wood box posted about a month ago enough to put it into use. some small details like a couple of drawers have the bottom back edge needing re-tacked/glued...

This is for sale on my local CL. I am tempted to pick it up just because I've never seen one.

I have never seen this style of Craftsman tool chest before. Can anyone identify it, or the maker?

Thank you. That gives me something to go on at least. I'm still scratching my head, though. After two years on GJ, I have yet to see that style of Craftsman tool chest. I wonder if the tool boxes sold be sears in Canada were all made in Canada? It makes sense if you want to save on excise taxes I guess.

I stopped by the recycling yard today at lunch to drop off a bag of aluminum cans and 74lbs of small lead acid batteries. I'm always keen to check out the 'save me' pile from the steel yard. Well, today I pull up and see this guy...

and promptly load it in the back of the °lllllll° to get weighed.

Guy didn't want to help me lift it out of the °lllllll° and I tell him that a bunch of the drawers are stuck (should't be too hard to get them open). He says, 'what's it worth to you'... I'm like... '$15 bucks'. SOLD! :rocker:

So
+$1.26 in aluminum cans
+$11.10 in lead acid batteries
-$15 for Kennedy roller

=$3.64 for Kennedy box. :willy_nil

nicely done Outlaw

Thanks guys!

Its really working out well for me on this bench! I added a couple of thin 1/8"oak strips under each end, and removed the felt I had originally put under it and now when the folding leaf is down the work mat slides partly under the chest. I still have a narrow section for something quick, but can open the leaf for the larger jobs.

Yesterday I rebuilt/rewired a work lamp and ordered an LED tube lamp for it so that will be the better light I need and be just barely above the top of the chest. I wasn't digging the little gooseneck lamp.

I don't think all of them were - I've got a little crown top hand carry box labeled Made in USA. I suspect many were Canadian built, either by Beach (the curved stamped aluminum pulls are a telltale) or by SPG International. There may have been a few other companies too (Flaherty?)

My little box could also have been imported from the USA over the years.

Beach supplied OEM boxes to both Sears and Canadian Tire, they are good solid toolboxes.

Of course.... Why would you use a tool box to hold tools when it could hold plants or some other Pinterest type project[emoji36] this is my pet peeve when people ruin good tools for **** projects[emoji36]

That's a big part of why I posted the link here. It's for sale at an antique store. Shocked at how cheap it is, but dear God, please don't let it be turned into someone's art project!
