Drives, RemLine made their own boxes, and boxes for many others... Before they were RemLine they were Advertising Metal Display (AMD, but not THAT AMD...)

Found this SK machinist box in GREAT condition yesterday. Weird thing is it was listed on OfferUp for like three weeks, sat unwanted through an entire garage sale all day yesterday, so the seller was happy to take $25 for it. I did a little poking around and my guess is that it's from the 70's?

Last photo is comparing it to a Kennedy of similar era. They weren't the manufacturer, were they?

I own that same box. I don't know when it was made, but I don't think it was 70s. Most likely 80s, imo.

I don't mean to take anything away from you or the others who like it (it really does look nice), but it is surprisingly light duty and not well made at all. As soon as I find a suitable S-K chest for my S-K collection, I will sell mine for what I paid - $30.

DAYUM, Brian - Sick burn (As the kids would say). But yeah - not as substantial feeling as my John Deer box, for sure! I am sure a line would form to pay you $30 for your box!

IMG_5892.jpgI got this one also, it has a few drawers in it ! 😀 I'm not sure if I can keep this one in my garage tho, it takes up a lot of space. I would hate to sell it, something like this one is hard to find

Drives; I'm still in love with the Craftsman stuff, so much so that I'm thinking about getting rid of my floor standing C Man drill press so that I can bring that stack closer to where I work?

Drivesitfar- I looked for a manufacturer of the box and couldn't find anything. I checked the drawer faces and inside them hoping to find something, nothing

MR: if you can take a few more pictures of your cabinet over on the metal cabinets thread and here's the link:

https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=305350

maybe some with the drawers open so we can see the slides maybe one of us might have an answer. or maybe not and more of us will say it just looks COOL.

thanks for looking for a name and it does have the look of pre 1950's and maybe pre WWII.

Came home with this c. 1916-20's Kennedy Kits box from the Early Bird flea market this morning.

I was originally interested in it as a donor box, fully intending to cannibalize the leather handle for re-installation on one of my various WWII boxes, several of which are missing or badly desiccated. The leather on this one is roughed-up, but still presents a nice appearance.

But the more I look at this box, the more I like it. The exterior has darkened and looks brown, but the inside is olive. It's not heavy duty, but it's a nice lightweight box and now I'm thinking I may actually try to preserve it.

The decal is in fine condition...

...and so is the rather ornate clasp, with a very strong marking, including the patent date ("9-16-16").

View media item 76761
It has a nice assortment of compartments in the removable tray, and two deeper compartments tucked in the back of the main compartment under that.

I doubt that this bottom protector is original, but I may keep it on there.

Proud Papa Lugz,
That is a really nice early useful box. Much too pristine to mess with. Throw some tools in it and carry it around. Great find!

There are some great finds in this thread...and some beautiful restorations too. I recently picked up this Toolmobile (from some friends who had been storing it in California) I purchased several months back. It's great to get it home!! It is scratched and dented but the discoloration on the top looks like permatex to me, not rust, so it needs a careful cleaning.

The locking bar is there, but the lock mechanism is long gone. The sliding tray is in the top drawer too...pretty cool! It did not come with any dividers. Two of the four original casters are there too...someone replaced two with the same brand but a different style and made a pretty nice shim out of scrap steel. I'm looking for the correct casters.

It really looks better in person than in the pictures!

I picked up a nice Powr-Kraft roller today to go with a Powr-Kraft top box that I found awhile back. I don't know what I'm going to do with them, I'm out of room! I need to stop bringing this stuff home.

Krh300d. Has block off plate from factory no wiring or lamp. Ca.1958-60. Kid was using it on a used car lot. Nice kid. He was asking 150 so I gave 180 for it just cause he needed tool money.

Im hoping this cabinet classes as a "tool box", it housed tools prior to my ownership and it houses my tools now.

Not sure on who made it but when i seen it in a closing maintenance shop i knew i had to have it, its missing a couple of draws (one had been removed and riveted to the top), it had been in the shop for 30+ years.

Cheers
