I've got a Snap-On 1/2" drive crowfoot that has no markings at all, as such, I don't remember the size. I also have a 19mm Snap-On wrench with a chunk missing out of the box end. Of I have time, I'll take pics tomorrow at work.

This isn't one really but it looks like the stamp didn't hit the socket the right way. Only the top part of snap on got stamped
a22ed58d826a3ff5672adcd73af3ab38.jpg
It's a snap on 5/8 universal spark plug socket.
I may try to sell it and retire....;)

10" Plomb adjustable wrench (made at the J.P. Danielson factory) stamped "2n" and the Plomb name ground off (as was factory policy on seconds and not to be confused with later grind-offs done as a result of the Plomb/Plumb lawsuit) but with the "Plomb bob" still visible. Has some misalignment of the jaws. Still usable, just not first quality.

Nice to see the new additions guys! I did check out the Bonney wrench too. Neat finds.

Interesting adjustable there. Danielson was not far from here. That scratch out is similar to a Proto (maybe just seconds not a Plomb transition) ratchet and breaker bar I picked up with the names scratched out. The ratchet has a smooth handle. They both came from California. I bought them in a lot to get another tool.

Also have another Proto Los Angeles ratchet with a smooth handle that I found locally. Proto had a Jamestown,NY factory back in the day too. Not sure the origins of this ratchet because I don't know what they made here, plus it is also stamped LA. That handle is a little thicker than the scratched out ratchet. Whatever was scratched out, it looks different than the other face plates. Another LA ratchet shown for comparison.

When Alphonse Plomb was just starting out, there were wrenches marked "Calif Tool" made in Los Angeles.
As most know, this morphed into Plomb or Plvmb then Proto.

Here is a shot of my Calif Tool line wrench.
Anybody have input as to its age? Close to 100 years right?

Flip side of the old wrench ...

Note the poor stamp job on the last letter of "PLOMB"
Makes it look like a lower case bee.

I just received a Stanley 1/4" dr, 16 pc socket set. Out of 14 sockets, only 1 socket has the detent cut into it. The 13 sockets are basically useless, it will fall out with use. Amazon was quick to refund my money.

Who'd have thought you should check for missing detents in your sockets ?

13 sockets without detents, only 1 on the extreme right has it.

Interesting piece. You certainly don't see smooth handled Protos very often. It certainly looks like a 5449 Proto ratchet that may have been a factory second with a grind-off.

This one must have been floating around for a while before I snapped it up this weekend at the flea.
MAC Sabina Ohio 3/4" combo, almost.
The boxed end was never milled out. Is it just me, or does this look like it was made by Cornwell?

After looking at the thread with the freak Snap On socket I realized that I haven't posted anything in a bit.

Found this during the past year in a box of old tools.

It's about 15" long round bar stock with some bend to it. No markings at all. Not positive the what or the who.

Username- Cool find. I have seen one or two MAC wrenches like that pop up for sale before. Almost bought one myself.

Some more pieces I accumulated over the past few months.

Williams Superrench combos, and what I believe is a Williams tappet that's not cut out.

I may be half way to a set of combo wrenches with the other ones I have.

That wrench is from after Plomb sold his company in 1927.

Two funnies...

First is a 1/4" / 1/4" Drive. The drive side is fine, but the other side is just perfectly round. I guess when you *really* round off those bolt heads...

Second is a 10mm laser etched, but stamped 11mm... Actual size is 11mm...

This old Craftsman be code female drive ratchet looked great on the outside.
No sign of ever having a cheater pipe or having been hammered on.
I noticed a lot of burring at the mouth of the drive end and it felt sort of wonky so I drilled the rivets out and looked inside.
I think the gear snuck past the heat treating dept.
Worst I've ever seen.
In the bottom pic you can see where I started to file the top of the gear.
I planned to dress the thing and put it back together.
Then I came to my senses.

I wondered what was in my Husky rat, now I don't have to wreck it to find out.

I had this Atha #3 awhile before I figured out the stamp was double tapped.

I have several flea market Craftsman sockets with markings on the wrong end. I bought a Cold Steal knife blank in college at a flea market in VA. One of my roommates stole it before moving. Not sure why, except he was crazy and weird.

It's impressive all the restorations people do on this site. Whenever someone mentions building up or filing ratchet teeth :badteeth: though I'm like like :yikes::eek::scared: now that's extreme!

That's one we don't see taken apart all the time. A sacrifice for the team.

A set of old Williams Superrench combos with no stampings, from the flea market. Maybe an employee took these home from the plant and proceeded to hand etch the sizes.

Normal 7/16 wrench for comparison.

This goes back to when Bonney tools were made during the Cooper ownership as the sockets got skipped on having a part number on them. the 3rd picture shows a part number. The 1 3/16" should have AL38, the 1 1/4" should be A40 and the 1 5/16" should be A42

Interesting. Is the ratchet from Cali. area or do they make some in Dallas like Mac? I don’t know where you are Potato.

Should have two knurled bands, right?

Mikeske- You’ve got a nice Bonney collection I see. Thanks for sharing those here. I just found a couple mishap sockets to add while going through my 1/4 stuff (craftsman and Kobalt).
