Not sure how to tell. This is my first Bahco tool.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Curiousity got the best of me. An 8" Bahco wrench like that was included in the factory tool bag of (maybe)544,as well as 122 and 1800 models, and I just never saw one with the tools intact.
Some cool info http://www.melbys.net/bahco/Gator.htm

Pawpaw says this one started his collecting wrenches.

Here's my FREE haul from Friday. Guy was moving and didn't want to mess with selling or hauling this stuff. This way he didn't have to make a big pile on the curb. He posted an add on Facebook with pictures of a table saw and other tools but by the time I got there an hour later the tools were gone along with a lot of other stuff.

I still got some goodies.

Pic 1: The guy stuff. 3 new double pass automotive transmission heat sink coolers, 4 large triangular pieces of 1/8 thick aluminum and a stack of Playboys. I haven't read a ******* in years LOL. Not sure if I will bother now.

Pic 2: Nice little real wood end table and a lamp.

Pic 3: A Dodge 2016 Challenger front spoiler, 4 large blocks of cedar wood and a tool stand I will give to a friend who needs one.

Pic 4: 2 boxes of pint beer glasses along with some other beer and wine glasses. I actually need some of these for entertaining friends. I may give a try to etching the pint glasses with my bead blaster cabinet.

So there were no estate or garage sales in my area I could find this weekend so I decided to hit the flea market although not expecting much.

Thankfully I was wrong!

One thing I have been looking for was a Craftsman pocket knife, preferable with my favorite Crown logo badge. I have been asking the knife dealers at the flea market before but no luck. So I ask the first knife dealer, he got one recently but was keeping it for his collection. I walk across the aisle to another dealer and BOOM this little jewel is sitting there in plain sight! 3 blade Craftsman knife with the CROWN logo in nice shape! $10 and it was mine! My favorite find for the past two days!

I wandered around and found a few other goodies.

Pic 1: The Craftsman knife and 3 spinners, 2 Sears Taiwan metal 3/8" spinners and a Snap On TMS-70 1/4" drive spinner for a $1 for all three! Two Master Made In USA padlocks with keys and an old Yale lock without a key for $12 for all three.

Pic 2: 10 folding plastic crates with a woodgrain texture for $20. I think these may have come from one of the East Texas small town Walmart's that literally closed overnight in 2016. One had closed only about 8 miles away from the flea market, that Walmart had only been open a year and had caused the closure of the towns only grocery store. People now had to drive 20 miles for groceries. Supposedly they was a bit of a mess left at the Walmart store too.

Pic 3: 4 new floor mats 46" x 93", $30 total.

The thumbnail will give you an idea of why I am not out this morning on the LAST DAY OF THE 2017 GARAGE SALE THREAD!

...there was a Champion Shoe Machinery Company in St. Louis, Missouri. It started in 1903 and existed till at least 1953. So I think Outlawmws is correct that it is for some kind of leatherwork. :)
That's some nice research work, Hexen. Thanks. And I like your avatar. Fitting. Hope to see you posting more next year.

Now that's a nice last days of the year haul, bb!

All:

It's already 2018 in Fiji, Tonga, parts of New Zealand, and the easternmost reaches of the former Gulag Archipelago, and it's headed for Asia and Europe fast. While I don't know if there are any Garage Sales going on in any of those places right now, I want to be fair and objective to our international participants (and, um, er, I'm going to be sorta out of pocket starting mid-afternoon...), so be forewarned that I may actually launch the 2018 Garage Sale Thread a little (okay, more than a little, and maybe something like several hours) earlier than 2018:00:00:01 EST!

One LAST post in here for me to end 2017! Answered a CL ad for some hand carry tool boxes. I went for the Snap On KRA 21C and the unknown cantilever tool box. When I arrived I was surprised at the house, it was HUGE, this was in Acton,MA. I am greeted by the gentleman and he leads me down to the dark basement. Then it hits me, pure tonnage, literally shelves and shelves of antique and vintage tools. There where vises everywhere, drill presses both regular and camelback. I was there for a half hour and still didn't see everything. I also bought the one vise he decided to let go. There is also a South Bend lathe I want to go back and purchase when I get more funds. I also attached some pics of the unusual vises I saw, a lever style, Chain Drive Post vise, etc.
I ended up paying $97 for these three items.
If anyone LOCAL is interested PM me. He is just starting to sell his collection piece by piece. This place is a true Honey Hole for antique tool collectors. Hundreds of planes, vises, power tools, axes, hand tools, etc.

Here are the pics of the vises. I wanted to take more pictures but didn't want to be a tourist or cross a line.

That cantilever box looks almost like new! Nice! :)

So I hit a privately run Estate Sale yesterday at a GINOURMOUS 10,000 SF house in South Orange NJ. The only reason I went was to look at the desks shown in the web ad.

I bought a 48" x 25" Mid-Century Modern desk for $20.00. It's a Jofco Desk from Jasper Indiana. The company is still in business under an new name. My ideal desk would be a 60" x 30" desk but this is what they had so I'll move into this desk and keep my eyes open for the optimal size.

Cheers

Jim

PS: I'm ordering a USB KM switch to share the keyboard and mouse between the desktop and the work laptop as needed. I'll then use the Dell "Bigfoot" tactile keyboard. This will clear a little of the desktop clutter.

He's my last 2017 load of 2017.
A 56" wide, 9 drawer Lista, I think.

I say I think because the drawer fronts have a little roll to the bottom. The drawer slide frames are the same as my other Listas, so pretty sure it's one.
One member here found the CL listing, another member bought and picked up. I traded with him two smaller Listas for this one.

We have a pretty good supply and transfer route going on here in Fl. I'm in Ft. myers, the buyer is in Tallahasse and we met in Spring Hill at the first members to exchange these cabinets in front of his house.

So, lots of enabling, FaceTime so I could inspect remotely, a day killed to go swap out and great time with beer.

Also got some large size Armstrong wrenches from same place.

That looks like it could be a caboose stove.

My end of the year finds today.

1. Vintage hand pump oiler 4" W X 12" L overall

2. Vintage Mobile Gas & Oil solid brass Pegasus statue 7" H x 5" W

3. Vintage 1950's era Transogram 'Spin Wheel' Dart Game board 12" Dia.

4. Vintage 1940/50's era child's cupboard 39" T x 18" W x 14" D

The little cupboard is for my wife's collection. The old dart board will eventually get hung up on a wall with other vintage game boards. The oiler and Pegasus goes in my collection of Gas & Oil stuff. :D

All cool stuff Lugz! That Kampkook is an early one! I have an AGM model 2; One of these days I'll play with it and get it fired up...

Lots of great finds there to wrap up the year guys!

Outlaw-really neat mini chest with the tag.

Lugz- thanks for posting all the cool "wants" from your travels. Some neat stuff. I see so many things I have to leave behind, there could be a whole thread devoted to stuff we did not buy. Hmmm, there probably is.

Bobcat- you've got the picker in me drooling thinking about what's at that sale.

CB nice box. Great drawer setup. Nice large wrenches too. You never know, one use and a large wrench could pay for itself is the way I like to think.

I was thinking of some of my favorite finds of the year. Without digging through the thread, the old Williams tool board and emblems come to mind.

I want to wish everyone a HAPPY, HEALTHY, SAFE, AND BLESSED NEW YEAR!

Thanks to everyone who participated and shared their finds with us all here. Please continue to in the 2018 thread.

This GS season has been a blast as always. I simply cannot believe how fast the year passed for me. Feels like I was just writing up the opening post!

I know I am certainly not the best at hosting anything, and knew that going in. There were times I didn't want to over-post, and other times I seemed to under-post.

It's been a bit trying for me this year, abruptly moving and quiting my job, slowly adjusting to things still. So, tool hunting and seeing the weekly finds from everyone is something that I really look forward to!

I wish the best of luck to Private Lugnutz, a member I truly enjoy seeing on the forum. Please refer to the 2018 thread https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=379498 for any and all finds after this week. This thread will of course remain open for and follow up discussion, etc..

Thanks guys for the opportunity! Keep the good finds coming! And, I still have to post my NYE flea finds...

I almost finished 2017 with a great score. Thursday night saw a1 HP Craftsman block with stand in mint condition. List 1 hour and 54 minutes before I called. No answer left message then sent email. Owner responded -- someone is coming tomorrow at 9 am will call if they don't show. At least I got a response. Never heard anything from owner apparently the buyer actually showed up.

Asking price was $40. With pictures in damn near mint condition. Oh the Horror!

Happy New Year to all the great GJ tool hunters and shoppers! There were many great buys this year and it was always a source of great interest to me seeing your tool and other discoveries. I hope 2018 proves even better and look forward to a new season of hunting for that good deal.

Today I hit up the flea, actually two, for one last go in 2017. I was pretty happy with the results.

For the longest time I thought all I was going home with today was the hammer head, and then things started looking up! Found some goodies at both stops.

Matco 4 lb. ball peen head
Stanley little brass level
Ridgid crank screwdriver
Eklind metric folding hex keys
Wiha phillips screwdriver
Vaco non sparking flat tip screwdriver
Stevens walden oddball locking nut driver

Then the find that made the day, finally got my hands on two ratchets I've been waiting to find. I spent a couple minutes looking at a box of beat and common stuff, and was playing around with a broken Proto, when i swear these two magically appeared out of thin air. I noticed a ringed handle under all the junk. Pulled it out, "Wow,a Belzer!". Then I took another look in the box and said "No way it can't be!". Yes, it was a seldom seen Vi-Chrome! This was a real twofer if I ever had one. The vendor looked at them and said they were "Much Bueno", so $10 for both. I said....okay! :lol_hitti Finally can cross these two off the list.

3/8 Belzer (Germany)
3/8 Vi- Chrome

Also found two neat Hazet long metric hex sockets in 3/8 drive.
Snap On 13/16 socket
Craftsman 1/2" drive plug
Snap On spanner socket. Haven't looked up its use yet.

Not bad for a New Year's Eve haul. $38 spent in all. I was pleased with my finds and happy that I went.

Wow CB, that is a nice size cabinet. I really like the width to hold lots and lots of wrenches.

:rocker:

I had intended to use for my general tools, bits, drivers drill bits etc. I'll have to admit I've been considering making it my mech hand tools. Just need to do a little figuiring.

Very cool CB! are the top drawer 4", or less? I would make sure one 4" was at or near the top for sockets...

Outlaw, the top 6 drawers are 3", but less than that inside usable height. One drawer is 4.5" and one 5". I'm not sure if my wrenches will be able to stand up in the 3" drawers. I'll play around tomorrow with it.

Happy New Year everyone!

I stopped at a sale yesterday, just for an end of year chance...

Found a Proto bet-r-grip that had been made into a Robertson driver, a Vise-grip with weld splatter and a guard for an angle grinder, that didn't fit my Bosch. Paid 2 bucks, overpaid by half. Sorry no pics.

My final post of 2017 will be something I got back in September and something I got this week.

- P&C Toolmobile $58

PA062450.jpg

I don't recall if I listed it here, but I did list it in the P&C and vintage tool box thread.

I have since traded it to Smokeshow, but I'm bringing it up because I found the matching top chest! I drove 140 miles to pick it up, and I would do it again.

- P&C 9990 top chest. $75

Since Smokeshow now owns the P&C roller, and he's the only dedicated Pressteel tool box collector I know, this one will eventually end up with him. But for now, I'm enjoying it!

Brian

Found this today when I was getting tools out my storage. I had bought it last fall and forgot to post it:

New, Ilco key duplicator, in the box, with instructions and 50 Schlage blanks. Apartment owner had a manager that bought it intending to make keys and save money. Manager got fired, owner never used it. $5 for the outfit.

I have somewhat of a dislike for the local locksmith here. He's unpleasant, and hard to work with. So much so, that I bought my own tools and rekey stuff myself now, just to avoid him. But, he cuts keys better than the hardware store does. I went in a while back, had him cut 3 more keys for my new house; Schlage pattern. He cut them on huge blanks that he's had custom made to have a lot of advertising for his business stamped on them. When I got home and gave one to my wife, she immediately said it's too big. Sure enough, it's irritating to have the huge thing in my pocket. So, I may be into making my own keys now..... I think not, this thing is new and unused, and worth maybe $300 on ebay. That'll buy a lot of keys made at $3 apiece. I think I'll keep the box of blanks, and make him duplicate the keys onto MY blanks next time.

My final post of 2017 will be something I got back in September and something I got this week.

- P&C Toolmobile $58

I don't recall if I listed it here, but I did list it in the P&C and vintage tool box thread.

I have since traded it to Smokeshow, but I'm bringing it up because I found the matching top chest! I drove 140 miles to pick it up, and I would do it again.

- P&C 9990 top chest. $75

Since Smokeshow now owns the P&C roller, and he's the only dedicated Pressteel tool box collector I know, this one will eventually end up with him. But for now, I'm enjoying it!

Brian

I think you know which thread you need to post your pressteel top box in ! Very good find by the way ! Not easy to come by !

Smokeshow needs that matching box!

Happy New Year to all the great GJ tool hunters and shoppers! There were many great buys this year and it was always a source of great interest to me seeing your tool and other discoveries. I hope 2018 proves even better and look forward to a new season of hunting for that good deal.

Happy new year everyone!!

Happy New Year guys!

Thanks Rag, was excited to find the ratchets.

Nice find Dave. Might this be the last suckage 2017 ?

That looks like it could be a caboose stove.
Agreed. My dad had one in our small garage - his hideaway, and I've always wanted one. Maybe the guy didn't sell it and it will show up in 2018 with a saner price.

That Kampkook is an early one!
I figured as much with the brass tags.

It's been a bit trying for me this year, abruptly moving and quiting my job, slowly adjusting to things still. So, tool hunting and seeing the weekly finds from everyone is something that I really look forward to! I wish the best of luck to Private Lugnutz
It was a great year, 3eeb, the pace was perfect, you were always there as the glue and the emcee and it was completely unaffected by your circumstances. So much so that I didn't think about it until you just mentioned it, a credit to you. And thanks for the smooth baton handoff. :)

Addendum:

Couple pages back, 3bay asked (paraphrasing), "What are some of your all favorite finds?"

I didn't keep close track, and at the risk of leaving anyone out by just going off the top of my head, I'll just say that my absolute favorite was the little brown nugget jackmac found on the driveway under his nephew's pant leg! That was a classic!
