In terms of the wrench, are you asking about the sears made Dunlap wrench or the Williams made super wrench? Also nice find on the wall cabinet! Looks like they are coming out of the woodwork this weekend[emoji23]

The one under the tack puller. Never seen that one before. The shank at the OE is wider than the CE.

Struck out at 3 garage sales yesterday. But found a nice Akro-mils cabinet, pliers that need to be cleaned up to see the makers mark, chisel, a really old new box of 0000 steel wool, and a Black & Decker sanding attachment for a drill because I cant turn down those old tool attachments. Only spent $8.95. Really wanted to get the pallet of hardware in metal drawers, but didn't know how I'd get it loaded in the mini van.e0177bf8c17de0dbc87386af3ef9b68c.jpg7a2cd48546acb689f42de1735fbdcf8b.jpg77ec1554b399e2ff6c9e9dfad418d7a9.jpga357d86b7b5fa2694096ee4a2724290a.jpg3c0f9b4c412182beb70141d85ed0983f.jpg59b8446fb56985e8b2373ce1a05ef349.jpg00fbc3d144cf40fa70d4c6aabd59da6b.jpg

This is all =v= series with the exception of the extra socket and punch which obviously both of those are not from this set. Can anyone tell me what this set is missing?

So bizarre how the thread goes on these weird synchronicity streaks like that!

Found a couple items, who made the wrench 2nd down on the left?
The one under the tack puller. Never seen that one before. The shank at the OE is wider than the CE.
Is it marked? Post a close-up.

Got some goodies today!
Thanks for recovering those. They must've dropped out of my cabinet.

I got a 10" PEXTO draw knife, similar to the one below, for $2.

How are PEXTO draw knives? How is the steel??

Only went to one sale today. Tools were in the ad, but only a few nails and a set if brace and bits out. Spoke to the spry 78 year old running the sale and he let my son and I look in the garage since he hadn't gotten to it yet. It paid to visit with him. Picked up several Proto deep well sockets; Snap On socket, screwdriver and punches; hammers; hatchets; 5 cent cigar boxes with string and angle braces; 2 boxes and several spools of misc wire; chisels; tiny tube cutter; and an old first aid kit. Spent $51. He'll give us a call when he gets more cleaned out.8964c411912d9fd4f5dd70b4dc95f9df.jpg79c668c46903b66cf2eeb17cd5f2e80c.jpgc70fb6c023a068e7e132e73491b7fe0f.jpg0f72ef2d0af6781f39ac9ab93ff368a5.jpgdaf98d67ebec3d16451e235cdaf8d16a.jpgf0f67e9922bfbf3d50885f2891d4f727.jpg963e67d1bc2dba140210afc45e81bb7e.jpgba82e33ef281d37868ab632075435cee.jpg

Hit four sales today that were pretty spread out. First one was a bust, second was what I should have gone to first, third was really good and the fourth will be good for someone just starting out. So, anyway the pics are kind of a jumble of all the stops but I think I spent $44 total and that includes a floor lamp to restore that I haven't taken out of the back of the truck yet.
2je1cw2.jpg

Craftsman and P&C sockets, Proto and P&C wrenches, a bunch of woodie drivers that had good tips, some MAC a Yankee and others unknown, a Craftsman push drill that I got for the bits as it is pretty roached and a General ratcheting tap handle.
30jl24z.jpg

A couple vintage boxes of .300 Savage ('cause I like the old boxes), a Brownells Magna Driver kit, minus the driver but it had most of the Zepher bits, a complete Chapman driver set and a Craftsman ratchet repair kit for a quick release.
30afj37.jpg

Proto body file, 3" General slide caliper and a Proto wrench roll, sans wrenches. My working wrenches are Proto MFD's so now I will start looking for Professionals.

Since we were back in the Bay Area for the weekend we went to a few close sales. The last one was an estate sale at a gas station that has been closed for quite a while. The tools were pretty picked over but I found a few things. It turns out that I knew the woman doing the pricing since the ‘80s which seemed to help at checkout time. The first two pictures are from that sale and set me back $6.00. The empty S-K box needed to be filled so I gave it a try. At the other sales I found a small set of Craftsman heritage drawers, a small Blitz can, a Channellock sleeve with some bits and a large can of tap oil.

So we hit the Califon NJ Townwide Garage Sale. This was a rare townwide sale that was actually worth attending. I think there is a member here from Califon, but I cannot remember his username.

At the first stop I found a vintage Signal Electric Company fan marked $4.00. I also got 2 pairs on brand new K&V 22" full extension drawer slides for $1.00 each. We also bought a matching rug for the slider and a runner to get from the slider thru the dining room into the kitchen - they were $20 for the pair.

On the way to the town the check engine light had gone on - no big deal right? A few stops later the battery was dead and we needed a jump start. At that point we stopped at a few more places but left the car running. Then we headed for home at 11:45. Lost opportunities . . .

We did see one really cool thing. One of the sales was at a barn where they were getting a Unimog with a backhoe attachment up and running. They had run it out of fuel in the winter and they were just now getting it back up and running. It was taking them a long time to top up the air pressure in the tires - they are huge!

At home we hooked up the battery charger, switched cars and hit some local sales. At one sale I found a Plomb 5447 1/2 Breaker bar ratchet head and at another I found a pair of Supercoup nibblers.

I spent more on my dinner than everything else today.

Pic #1 is the fan. It needs a little electrical love but seems to run.

Pic #2 is my cat Theo inspecting the runner.

Pic #3 is the nibbler and the Plomb ratchet head. Both need some cleaning and oiling.

Cheers

Jim

I don't know the market very well, Smoke. And I don't know how rare they are, either. My gut tells me they're not common and that a hard-core Heritage era collector with a hankering to hang his =V= tools in there might be willing to pay at least 3 x that! (But that's based merely on the fact that I would if it was Long C era! :))

I want one BAD, especially if it is the Crown logo one!

A good day if not many stops, then very busy on the trailer so a late post:

Back to the estate sale I've hit the past two Sundays, they finally unloaded the attic. Most of that was Xmas stuff but I found a few things, including another vise.

Prentiss Vise, SK, Indestro and Craftsman metric, pusher for a meat grinder attachment, and a mini grinder guard,

attachment.php

A 1/2 HP foot switch, spring clamp, a water rocket, a toy flute, brass grommets, Indian head nickle buttons, boat key fobs

attachment.php

A horn and binder clips. I use these for camping a LOT.

attachment.php

A grabber

attachment.php

and a Merry Xmas sign for SWMBO

attachment.php

More to come from two other stops

You guys are all killing it. I spent my budget for the week on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday - so I am on injured reserve this weekend! :)

Pic #1 is the fan.
Nice fan! (And yeah, I'd stop and watch a Unimog, too!)

Is it a black powder horn?

Signal Corps Case C/Y-684/GR by Kane Mfg
Just in case you didn't already know it, that's the date incorporated in the contract number.

Lugs. I saw those stickers, and while I'm not a Sticker guy, I would DEFINITELY would keep those on it!

The horn is more of a (Noise) horn than a powder horn. With hardware to could be a powder horn. The small end was worked on for a cleaner more rounded edge.

Usually don't post her but thought this deserves a post. Went to an auction yesterday and came home with the following.
7 corner braces mostly Miller falls.
Some odds and ends wrenches Craftsman to snap on and a mix of everything in between.
And a first for me. A Blackhawk 7/16 speeder.IMG_20180923_093911444.jpegIMG_20180923_094016982.jpeg

70% chance of rain this morning...make that 100%. Jakes flea was depressed, but my father and middle daughter joined Mrs LS and myself, so it was a real outing nonetheless. Picked up a hammer, two small Bonney wrenches, and file. Then this minty NOS Master Lock, which I gave to my daughter for her studio locker. There were two keys, but she already put one on her keychain.

Closeups of lock & key. From same vendor (there weren’t many today), picked up this sweet 3/8dr Craftsman ratchet which is freewheeling. I had it apart, and it seems the ball bearing that rides against the pawl needs replaced.

Finally made it out to the flea market after several sundays working. Also hit a small garage sale on the way home. Came away with a bunch of plomb and proto wrenches, including a dual marked doe. Also a lakeside adjustable for the collection, a bell systems screwdriver, some pliers, a small ball peon, and a handful of Mac socket trays that I have no use for. Maybe someone here needs them.

On Friday, I went to buy a Woodpecker's Paolini Pocket Rule from a CL ad. A few more red accessories followed me home. If you're not a woodworker or a box-maker you probably won't care. I was excited. I love Woodpecker's tools but their prices are a bit out of my range. A few of these box clamps will get put to work this week.

ALL: thanks for the comments on the old industrial farm/lumber cart and i think i'll start a thread in Vintage tools and maybe post up a few others I own and that I have owned and see what you guys have and use too.

not that I needed it but this little cast iron bird bath caught my eye so it's now in our yard and my bride seems to be ok with it. i've mentioned I could clean it up and put on BLO and she thought the patina looks great so i'm ok with that too. it's about 3 foot tall.

also picked up this little 4x8 (a couple inches over each way so a full sheet of plywood or 8 foot lumber fits in there nicely) for a good price and even though it's made in 1980 its still rolling down the road nicely. I'm planning on putting on new tires, greasing the bearings, a rolling jack up front and maybe some paint and a new bumper and it sure beats renting a Uhaul trailer.

hope you are all having a fun weekend.

Picked up this nice Craftsman tap wrench yesterday for $2, at a yard sale that was mostly household items. It's pretty big - 15" long. I am puzzled by the manufacturer's code...it's marked -VM- which according to this link means it was made by Danaher after 1989; the typeface for Craftsman and the general appearance made me think it was much older than that. https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=84807

edited to add: so after I posted, I did some Googling and found a few pictures of the same model number tap wrench...it appears it is fairly new. So, not vintage but still a good quality tool worth having.

Also, a picture of a little Stanley block plane I got at another yard sale a few weeks back now that I've had a chance to clean it up. Unfortunately the nickel plating is worn off the handle, and the blade still needs to be sharpened, but otherwise it came out pretty decent.
