Lugz,
Your shop looks like a great place to get away and relax! Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome, Mike! If duddly starts a "Show Your Man Caves" thread, I look forward to seeing everyone else's!

Can't believe you let something as cool slip through your fingers
Go ahead, rub it in why don'tcha?!

LUG: I don't know if they have any VINTAGE VINYL wraps for fridges or freezers, but I know they have new ones that look like a toolbox in case you might find some in old Army Green or Navy Grey let us know.
I have the picture on my computer somewhere of a little red cooler I spotted at one of my fleas this summer that looks like a Snap-on toolbox.

I found the "fancy" 4" clamp..[ ]... I really bought it because I have it's 5" cousin and now I have sort of a pair of clamps.
Jim,
Pretty sure the fancy 4” and 5” clamps are PEXTO.
Jim,
If you were 'down the shore' as we say (everyone not from NJ, NYC area, or eastern PA is thinking, "Isn't there a preposition or something missing in that sentence?" :)) and rolled your pants legs up, you'd be a clampdigger!

LS is correct. They are both unbranded PEXTO. I have the branded version of the No. 4, shown in the PEXTO thread, linked here.

some older books & pamphlets.
Nice saves, Paul.

You can probably find a photo somewhere. If not, and you freelance it, I have some V-shaped "radio" knobs that might work, and would match the big "V" on the side.

I got curious about the hot plate, because I have a similar car heater. ACME was at 1317 Washington, Boston, Mass., in 1950. They must've snowbirded it sometime after that. By the looks of that thing, couldn't have been too much later!

The patent on the Stanley is Apr 6, 1943! But I tend to agree with you on 50's on your model.

Cool finds! Same vendor? Reason I ask is they're sort of in the same family.

Thanks for the info. Found both the same day but at different places.

Today's finds-
Wasn't planning to go out, but browsing FB market place at 5:30 AM I came across the cord reel in the picture below. Turns out it was a sale that started at 7:30, the listing had a number and I called to see if he would hold for me until 7:30, as it was 1/2 hour away. He did and I bought the reel and some other smalls.
ec817bec5d1c30f2b1c33e18e00ca02e.jpg
It's a Duro reel, never mounted, said he hold if I promised to put up and use right away, deal I said. It has 50' of 12 gauge cord.
Best of all it was $20.
49fc7c2fcff4f9ea686b41fc27432275.jpg
Also got a little stainless shelf, some braided rope, cans of Boshield and a couple c clamps.

So once I was up in this area, I was obligated to stop at sales on the way back.
A small brass hammer, ball pein , vise grips and a SO driver.

The SO Driver has a marking "know how" on it, a promotional thing back then?

Last stop was a Dewitt locking c clamp and some lead.

I haven't been out much lately, but I did find a few odds and ends over the last few weeks, including some older books & pamphlets. I'm always worried that they will get scrapped if they aren't sold. Let me know if you want for your collections or displays.

That 1937 NEC booklet from Cutler-Hammer is pretty sweet. :) I could trade you something for it, let me know if you have any particular thing you collect or are looking for.

Among other things, I picked up this. I am going to have to start of thread over in vintage.
Sheesh. I hate you right now and not in a good way - haha - but it will pass. I have literally been looking for an external cantilevered wartime Duplex or the wartime "HandiKit" versions Duplex made for Snap-on for close to ten years now! Everyone finds them but me! Is that a Duplex or a Snap-on? Either way, nice find. They've come up here in several threads, including the 'Show your Snap-on' thread and the 'Toolboxes of GJ' thread, several times. Too many times! Grrrr.

Fun story that ends with some good finds:

We are on a pseudo vacation, meaning we drove from the Oregon Coast to the far side of Oregon to visit family and redo my MIL’s kitchen and move my oldest son there.

Day 2 my FIL (75 with early signs of dementia) decides to move my sons car, a 2005 Kia Spectra, so he can put the trash cans out to the road.

And move it he does. Right into the back of my 2018 Suburban. Luckily, I hadn’t removed the hitch. It completely destroyed the grill to the Kia, but the Burb was fine.

So, my oldest and I set about dismantling the grill. But, we didn’t have a 10mm anything (of course)

So we head to a new ‘junk store’ that had advertised some tools on Facebook marketplace.

This guy buys storage units and sells whatever he gets. Well, he had some nice stuff.

63482ac4f25ff60602bee71644eb4778.jpg

The wrenches are all Proto or Challenger (except for the small ones on the bottom left) Sockets are mostly Proto, with some SK, Blackhawk, and Snap-on thrown in the mix. Adjustable are both Proto, the lonely ratchet is a Craftsman, but doesn’t work.

A couple of other pictures of the same stuff, just closer: 876945164c83e69ae7fe6589c46d8875.jpgc75b24fb21c8ba8d3ffc1f9d85d6a503.jpg

Best of all, we found what we needed.

Then I did something really fun, and bought this:

That reel looks like a good one at twice the price.

Its a Buick thing, service manuals had 'know How' in the titles for awhile.

Here's some finds from the last week or so, I've missed posting up some older ones.
Overall - using my cart to transfer from truck to shop.

I'll start with a mid week flea market here in town.
deab63a633767a2aff855da00136ebe1.jpg
Had bought a handful , Ampro adjustable, heavy vise jaw brass inserts, Klien strap wrench, knurled insets, a Dake #1 arbor press and a Armstrong pipe vise.

I carried all of the above in one trip to truck as I was late for a estate sale up the road.

From the estate sale-

A box of brand new jobber bits, found these under a bench. A keyless 5/8" Chuck, pieces of a block grinder, misc Machinest blocks, paddle handle Allen wrenches and a small saw fence.

C- clamps my son picked up at a sale that I couldn't go to.

That Ampco adjustable wrench is worth a few bucks on ebay.

Mike/Tex/txlonghorn:

Ironically, there was no Snap-on catalog in 1972 or 1976!

But I found a few WorthPoint results showing Special Bicentennial Editions of the KRA-53B. And I also found a thread on the Collecting Snap-on Forum, linked here, in which someone posted this photo.

I am not familiar with this era, and I am too lazy to go page through catalogs to see if the box on the CS-o forum thread is a KRA-53B, but maybe someone else will know. Regardless, it looks like at least some boxes came with red, white, and blue racing stripes, and a red, white, and blue sticker version of our key fob patriot! I highly suspect that those are the boxes that had the key fob.

Got any red, white, and blue paint?

Seriously, nice box and I would keep that little wrench-toting militiaman right where he his!

Lugz,
Very cool! Thanks for looking into that! I'm not sure what I'll do with the box since I'm not really a SO guy. But I do plan on keeping the box and the key chain fob together!

5) a very odd pony wrench
Polly wrench, way to early in morning to post
I would start a thread on that if I were you. I never heard of Gellman "Polly" wrenches, or seen one before, so it might be a FOAK for GJ. I am curious about that adjusting mechanism! How does it work? I see a spring. That would be for tension, but what does the hex nut do? Slide? Or turn and slide? Or what? I'm going to have to make a note of the patent and read up on it. Nice find! I love one-off oddball adjustable wrenches from the heyday. Based on nothing but an informed, experiential hunch, I am going to guess that "Polly" was the inventor's daughter. There was a precedence for that in those days.

EDIT: I found one. From way back in 2015. It didn't get much airtime. I would still start a thread and link the first one, found by safariknut. Linked here.

Lugz,
But I do plan on keeping the box and the key chain fob together!
Hell yeah. '72 and '76 are close enough!

Fowl: looks like you are spending another vacation at your in-laws remodeling their home. what a guy!! sorry to hear about the little fender bender and I remember seeing my daughters in her honda sitting in the side of our mini van cause she tried to stop quick in the grass/mud to park.

WOW that looks like a fun little Jeep and will it go up on the DUNES near your home?

ALL: I found something I haven't been able to find in the wild yet that I should be picking up today so stay tuned and hope you all find something you want or need or that is just cool this weekend.

cheers

Dodge: nice find. I had the double sized version of that about 5 years ago and traded it for an old vise cause i didn't have room for it. it was built like a tank so i'm guessing you can use it for almost anything if you have the room.

Lug: too many shoppers and lurkers up in my area to say what it is so hopefully the seller will be good to her word and hold it until I pay her and pick it up this afternoon.

Terrific snag! There is a Sun thread. You should post it there, too.

I don't blame you even one little bit! I was just talking about these kinds of dynamics on the Plomb thread. We're all friends and we all love to share information and research, etc. But I draw the line on sharing Intel and tips on honey holes or rare potentials!

I've been wanting some quality drill gages.
Spotted these and couldn't say no. Very nice matte chrome plated.

Plus, I've never seen a Mitutoyo made in USA tool before. Thought that was interesting. These bear the older "tri-lobe" logo. All new old stock in deteriorating original plastic pouches.

Mitutoyo USA 950-202 0-36 AWG (round wire gage)
Mitutoyo USA 950-206 fractional drill gage 1/16-1/2 by 64ths
Mitutoyo USA 950-208 metric twist drill & machine screw gage
Mitutoyo USA 950-209 letter drill gage A-Z

Also a 10" Proto Professional "Proto Forged" black oxide adjustable wrench no. 710S in very nice shape.

Not bad for $20!

I have a couple rulers, combination square, that are mitutoyo made in USA. Wonder if that means they just sourced them here. (or did they have a plant here for some things?)

A good day today! nothing spectacular, but...

I had one severe temptation that I walked away from... a NICE MBC top box. but I have way too many top boxes not in use, and no place I want to keep more stockpiled. It was way deeper than the std 12" deep mechanics boxes too...

Fall seems to be going much better than spring or summer did! Today will be a two post day...

Starting with an Estate sale a few blocks away.

Picked up this box for the contents:

attachment.php

Contents:

attachment.php

I had spot checked enough to know it was mostly good stuff:

All above the Stanley multidriver is PowrKraft, socket set is missing the 15/16. Below that is SK Indestro, Plvmb, Proto, the stacked DOE's are McKaig-Hatch; Oregon, Nicholson and Oberg filles, the White box is a band Aid dispenser but on the other side is marked Chevron! probably a "gas wars" giveaway...

attachment.php

A very patriotic camp table. these are almost useless except as a stand for a duffel, unless you make a top. I use 1/4" or less ply, or ply paneling, and edge it with 1X1 glued and screwed so it sort of snaps onto the corners. THEN it's very useful!

attachment.php

A Homack Long gun "safe" its better than nothing, and for me it will only get BB and pellet guns...

attachment.php

And the last of the ES stuff: The Solder Pot and the camera filters; the Lock was cents fifty elsewhere, and so was the glass pitcher - probably for creamer, but I'll use it for syrup.

All told at the Estate sale? $25.

More to come!

Found an estate sale today with a bunch of rusty goodies. I'll post some of the interesting stuff in the appropriate threads later, but here's an overview.

Another Yardsale, an ammo can with screws inside and an old tool box. The ammo can was $4, the box $12...

Toolbox was cool inside! It was n't nearly this neat, but looks to be largely complete if not 100% complete!

Another Ammo can! (seems to be ammo cans everywhere cheap suddenly...) I happily paid a premium of $10 for this one, the bar clamp was a buck; got to free up the screw however...

This was in the Ammo can! Much better than the screws the smaller can came with!

two boxes of 9mm reloads, Ful box of federal premium, 30-06 boxes are nearlky full, the 45's are full, the 9mm shot shells are half full,

I had to go back with the Van to ES #1 for the Homak box, and dug deeper (I got permission to root trough the drawers and cabinets in the garage...)

All this was three bucks: Holster, Molding head, cord receptacle, level vial, behind the brass grommets is a saw file, he crimp fr the grommets, and Milwaukee, water pump pliers. the Pliers are beefy, and have three jaw configurations and adjust by pushing a button! They are not the usual side by side setup; The one jaw straddles the gear,,,I like em!

Outlaw: I can't believe you're so nonchalant about that Packer >RAY< set! It's one of two or three oddball brands I would really love to run into some day for my Roaring 20's collection! That is a fantastic snag!

Also, I'm glad you checked in. There are so many wildfires burning in California right now. I read that 250,000 people have been evacuated.

Nice selection of pin handles too! We only hit two worthwhile sales today. The first one had some rusty treasure, the second had some chemicals and an empty Dremel box which I can use. The stubby driver is a Walden, and the driver with the 5-1/2” blade looks to be a Bonney.

A good day today! nothing spectacular, but...

I collect Stanley Workmaster screwdrivers, and have a couple multi-bit types like the one in your box...they're great tools, very good quality and the handles allow for a lot of torque without tearing the skin off your palm. ;)
