My understanding is that Heyco branded items are made in Germany, and Heytec items are made somewhere else.

Pliers look familiar from another thread. Think they are rebranded Orbis pliers so made in Germany.

A couple of things....

Those Orbis pliers cost over $30 by themselves, more than half the price of that 7 piece $55 Heytec set. Second, the Orbis' are marked "Made in Germany" vs just "Germany" on the Heytec's.

I'm skeptical...

I'm not stating anything as fact either, but I still remain skeptical as to Heytec COO. It would be great if they are indeed made in Germany.

To me $8 per Made In Germany tool with a foam tool control module sounds a bit to good to be true...

When Heyco first introduced the Heytec line several years ago I thought, "oh no, another German company starting to go overseas". At the time, their offerings just screamed Made-in-Taiwan. Just quickly browing the Heytec line today, I can see that depending on the product, they can be sourced from German hand tool companies. Having said that, I'd say over half of their offering is sourced from Taiwan/China.

If your looking for good spanners then i use the facom 440's in work.

They're standard European length (i.e. a bit shorter) but the finish is immaculate and the fit excellent. The short length is a bonus with modern vehicles imo.

If you want good made in Germany spanners, look no further than either the Stahlwille 14 series, or the gedore 7xl series;
