Here is a 1945 Ferret sliding tee I found at an estate sale on Saturday. Evaporust worked wonders on it. I found these other pieces at a previous sale in Berkeley on Friday. I couldn’t find a date code on the adjustable but it cleaned up well.

I recently bought 2 sets of wrenches, one of the very few times I have ever bought a 'set' of anything but the price seemed reasonable.
VSO-811 DOE's
XV-608 DBE's
I assume these are early 1960's, can't see any date code on them. They're made in Canada, don't know if that makes them more or less desirable but they look ok to me.

The very rare set is the 9/32 dr, metric. I have a few pcs, never seen a complete set.

Also the 1/4 dr. whitworth set, late 40s. 12 pcs. very rare too. (pic)

I drilled two small holes where the cracks ended and used some JB Weld to fill and buttress. Replaced the sheet metal wingnut with a solid one. Despite having several jars of saw screws, I do not have one to replace the missing one, so a temporary and ugly bolt.

Nice restorations LS and Lugz.

The Snap On collectors circle threw me a nice bone for Christmas. That, or everyone was tuckered out from shopping and caroling when the 3/8 hinged speeder went up for sale. I almost jumped out my chair.

Don, those adjustables were made by Diamond Tool & Horseshoe for Snap-on. I don't think any of them had date codes.

One of the very hard sets to find. Nice to see it. Does this one have the ferret set on the back?

Love the oval decal logo. Are both sets from the 1930s? What are the ranges of date codes on the components?

Would probably be late 30s to mid 40s. It looks like it may have a date code on the back. It has been modified, one end has been bent.

snapmom,

I'd be interested in getting your take on an unbranded Snap-on F-70-N ratchet that was posted in the Ratchet Thread before the holidays. It's in a very strange but intriguing little 3/8-inch drive set in a metal case, wooden insert. The sockets do not look like Snap-on construction; the extension does, but it is also unbranded. ALL the pieces have cadmium-plating remains and strange model numbers stamped in them. And the set is in the Ukraine.

Click here on post #1121 and read down through post #1137. Then jump to post #1154 here, where the OP posted much more detailed info to our questions.

What an interesting rat. It does look like a S/O, but there are some problems. The wheel is wrong, its one that goes in a rat with a dust cover. also the paw is wrong, I do not think S/o ever made one in this drive with that square that is above the flush line. But all this could be a later repair, maybe someone had to modify the paw. What would be nice, is to get a couple of close up pics of the selector switch section, maybe shows a date code, also some measurements

The sockets may not be S/O. They do not fit the style that was in production at that time.

I found my first Octo-grip screwdriver today at a local estate sale. In checking Collecting Snap-on it looks like they were made between ‘55 & ‘60.

I love Octo-grip. They seem to be rare. When I do see one it's usually clutch type, which is useless to me.

Hi all. I just found this Snap On 7/16", deep socket. The markings read; Snap On STM-14.E made in USA. Looks pretty old, but how old? It is attached to a Wright adapter at the moment. Can't get them apart!
Thanks
