Calling all you Truth experts. Picked up a few of these sockets. They were pretty rusty and couldn't make out a name. Liked the rope pattern so I decided to pick them up. After quick cleaning I found no marking on the side of the sockets. Just about ready to set it aside I noticed a mark on the drive side end of the socket for Truth. The size is stamped here as well. Anyone know the date of these? Didn't see anything on AA.IMG_20180817_173511618.jpegIMG_20180817_173519280.jpeg

Would anyone have an idea how old this Truth Ratchet is? It’s the only one I can see online that says Mankato MINN. No Model #’s either
It’s about 11” long. 1/2 Drive

Have you guys ever seen any socket, any brand, with the markings on the bottom, around the drive opening? I haven't until just now on a TRUTH socket with a band of rope knurling and a 25/32" service opening. See Pic 3 in a post from RagTopTA on the GS thread linked here. It's the second socket from the left in Pic 2.

I posted this in the ratchet thread but I'll put it here too.

Found a set of 5 matching broached rings that fit into my Truth IR22. 3/4" thru 1" by 16ths, rings are stamped with size. The 'I' in the pn# probably means interchangeable. I wonder if there are other pieces...?

Pardon horrid pics.

I just picked up a set of these with Ratchet in the original roll; appears to be complete and largely unused. I'll post up some pictures this weekend to show what the set originally included.

Here it is... I don't it it has ever been used - the wrap is getting a little brittle from age. I have a friend that goes to a lot of estate sales, and hits up some that I can't make it to. I saw him yesterday and he said he had something a little different that I might be interested in, and handed me this. He always comes through with some good stuff :)

Sizes are: 3/8 7/16 1/2 9/16 5/8 11/16

Dave, I missed your post until LNKMK8 posted. So the insertable sockets are the ratcheting mechanism, essentially. Or better said, the gear, since the pawl is in the ratchet frame. This is the coolest thing I have seen in awhile!

Yeah when I first found the ratchet by itself I thought it was hilariously easy to drop the gear out. Then over a year later found the rings.

LNKMK8- is your ratchet 3/8 drive? I see yours has a different part number as well as the ring sizes are smaller.
Very cool!!
Interested in trading or selling?

Yes, it is a 3/8" drive. I'm not sure yet about keeping it or not... Its pretty cool, but then again I'm not a big Truth Tools Collector either...

If that lever pushes that flat ring into the half cup, I would guess some kind of compressor. Not valves, I don't think. Something for piston rings? Doesn't look familiar for that application, either, though. Is it marked other than PAT'D and TRUTH? I have a couple old Truth catalogs at home that I will check later.

My first thought was some sort of bottle capper but it doesn’t look quite right for that.
Here is a 1/2” drive extension I found on Friday, before and after Evaporust.

There is a Truth socket set for sale on Offerup near Portland, OR. It is priced high, and appears to be missing the drive insert. I copied the photos for posterity.

My first thought was a blacksmith tool of sorts but they don't close very far you would have to be working with 5/8 material for any sort of grab on material. The dust cap tool makes sense also. Did truth make plumbing tools? It's almost like a basin drain wrench.

Yeah, came as a surprise to me too when I saw a NB some years back. Very strange considering NB supplied ratchets to so many brands over the years. Maybe they weren’t tooled up for 3/4 at the time? The crossover doesn’t appear in any other sizes. Have to credit our friend Ken W for finding this example to share here.

I have a complete 1/2" set. R6 ratchet, R8 speed brace, R10 extension bar, R11 sliding T bar and sockets from 7/16 through to 1-1/4 inch, all marked Truth and in what would have been a red painted box with what is left of the Truth decal on the inside of the lid.

Will dig it out and take some photos to add.

I picked up a Truth 8-point DBE wrench Saturday. I'm sure it is for Ford mechanical brakes, as the openings are 7/16" (for passenger cars from Model A to 1938) and 1/2" (for trucks from Model AA to 1938) based on other brand catalogs.

I've never seen one of these, and thought it would come in handy some time. Probably on my Ford 2N tractor! :)

Thread bump. Nice 1/2” set Land Rover. No idea on the mystery wrench.

3/4” round head ratchet.
Sort of unusual how the selector rotates 360°, with two positions for off and two for on.

G&S appears on the beam. Does anybody have an idea of what that is? Maybe it has to do with the steel itself.

Obviously a automotive special tool...but for what?

Looks like a cylinder head wrench. What size are the openings that should help quite a bit.

Nice big ratchet. Not sure on the G&S. Could be a die marker maybe but we would need other specimens to prove that out but that may be an up hill battle. I am about 2 hours from where Truth was made and I hardly see any of it around.

Looking for a Plomb 3061 Pebble Open End.
