That is a really nice findand the vise is one cute little fella. Have you checked the vise spread sheet to see if it is even listed?

You found a Prentiss 97? Wow, I’m really jealous.More Vise eye candy. Rock Island and Prentiss.![]()
Although I’d like to take credit for it rusty65 posted it first. I’ve got a couple of those finger vises and I really like them. It’s a great connection to artisans back in the day. I too just purchased a vise that was on that page. I got a Prentiss 153 on eBay yesterday. I’ll have to go to the app to post a few pics.Smitty:
Thanks for posting that catalog page.
It turns out that I have 2 of the other pieces pictured on that page!
Got replacement jaws from Wilton Vise Parts but mounting holes wrong measurement. Returning to see if Wilton can either make what I need or have on hand, or refund if it comes to that. Here are the pics:

Looks nice do you mind putting something next to it for a since of scale.

An army. I don’t blame you for asking it’s an interesting piece.Smitty:
Thanks for posting a pic of your little ones. Looks like we have that same little hand vise.
What would it take to pry that miniature blacksmith’s vise out of your hands?
Honza:
Looking really good there.
Good choice on the bottle for scale.![]()

Re: Plosstokverspringen, I’ve spent at least four hours trying to find that Prentiss 802 scan. Sorry, no can do.

Beautiful! Did you pick that up off of eBay? I was watching one but lost interest when it went >500$This little York 60 just arrived in the mail from across the pond![]()
Thanks shiftless - green is his favorite color and this was the closest I could find to match his "radioactive green" Harley Davidson.Ww29:
You’re a great friend!
That’s certainly “extreme” with the green paint.
Paramos are great vises. Or should that be “vices”?
Honestly Jeppen I don’t know how you do it. I’ve looked at hundreds of pages trying to beat you to the punch on the 802 scan. Great job. Finally found one! Although the graphic shows a cylindrical spindle, all -6- examples that I've seen have the round meatball like our Prentiss 802. The scan isn't the best quality, but it has all of the sizes and styles for the "Star" line of Prentiss vises. Based on my database, it was minimally offered between 1909-1915.
So you got yourself a "420" vise stand from a biker in the desert?![]()
Misslebear, this one was about 30 minutes outside of Buffalo.

Nice find Loydski29, it looks like it’s in exceptional condition. Have you tried the swivel jaw yet?
I always look at the back rim on the swivel jaw behind the locking pin. Yours is in great shape which tells me it had a responsible owner that didn’t use it as an anvil. Hopefully the pin pops after a short soak. Thanks Smitty it’s in great condition everything is pretty locked up on it.haven’t messed with it to much yet I’m sure it will be a chore getting the pin out like most are.
Smack of being chicom to me...
Looks great! I think you were meant to have that one. It's funny how life goes, this last two weeks have been hard for me since I put both Parents in hospice care, yesterday my Mother fell and broke her 83 year old hip. For the last 24 hours I have been caring for my Mother and Father. Last night I got a tip from a GJ member (lafester) on a large Parker on Marketplace so I took a much needed break and drove a hour to check it out, I bought it after seeing that this Parker 275 was not only in excellent shape but a swivel jaw. Normally I never show any vises I purchase until they are finished being restored, but this one is now special to me since when I went back to care for my Mother after picking it up and the next hour she took her last breath holding mine and my Father's hand. Her suffering is over and I have no bad feeling's. This vise will get a top notch restoration and be fit on a custom built stand. I look forward to working on this one and it will be my user vise in my retirement days.
