The bel air box has always been my favorite. I'm not even a Chevy guy.

Probably one of their best limited edition efforts. Even so, it just doesn't look nearly as good as a plain bright red box with no stickers . . . . but that's JMO.

Some of these limited edition models just look like **** . . . but then again, JMO. I'm sure someone likes them or they wouldn't sell any of them.

I'm not a big Chevy guy either....but the color is awesome (I love blue) and I like the uniqueness of it.

I love the aquamarine, I love the BelAir logos and the aluminum trim, but I think they should have stopped there; the murals kind of detract from the classic 50's look.

WOW,

I guess I got a deal for $2500 for top and bottom and matching teal locker plus the bel air matching cart, screwdriver's and clock and model of the 57. Oh and the matching creeper and optional creeper holder.

No, that seller is just not in touch with reality. Here is one that had never been used, and came with the matching unused creaper, and side locker. It was in NY.

I remember years ago there was a Snap on store here in ABQ that had a line up of limited edition boxes. If I remember correctly, I saw two different versions of the Belair toolbox. Both were bigger than the one pictured. One was candy apple red with gold trim and came with a matching cart and battery charger, the other was teal and identical. Both were going for about 20 grand, and that was around 94 or 95.

I call BS since the Bel Air box came out in 97....
Trust me I was looking at one on the truck in 97 as a lot kid and thinking "Someday" I'll get one of these boxes..

I've NEVER seen another version of the Bel Air box.

The murals don't really bother me as much as the gold trimmed chevron and emblems. I'm actually thinking of taking them off and having them chrome plated.

Waterloo had a box the same color. I think both company’s had these out as 57 Chevy 40th anniversary editions.

Any one know the correct color code for these boxes to be able to get paint?

I have been told it is a 57 Chevy color

Maybe my dates are off a little, but I do remember seeing these boxes at the retail store. I specifically remember the candy apple red rolling battery charger with the gold handle. I also remember the price, 20 large. These boxes were much bigger than the one in the pic, twice the size. I was only 16 or 17 at the time so the memory might be off a little, but definitely not BS.

I know the 54" X 24"d limited edition boxes of that era were just under $14K new for the upper and lower. There were also 30"D boxes done in many of the limited edition series, but are much more scarce. The limited series boxes appeal more to the homeowner gear heads, who normally does not want or need a 30"D box. In the used market, there is not a big price difference between them, it's just very hard to find the deep ones.

Zrexxer,

I'm with you...I can live with all the chevy badging and visual cues on the front of the box, but the mural makes me want to hurl:monkey_po

Here's mine at work with it's cart off to the right. My new Matco cart is next to my main box right now though. The matching cart needs to go home soon.
I'm happy for $2500. It's the biggest box in the shop currently. It was my holy grail of Snap-On boxes and I lucked out getting one and at a steal of a price.
I just installed a mini fridge in the locker and I'm in the process of wiring it up for my internet connection and surge protector. Everything is just strung about right now. :pimpflash

I have the color code. It's under the last drawer on the left side top box. I'll get it for you tomorrow if you really want it.

The last three letters in the model number is the Snap-on color code. There might be a sticker under the bottom left drawer of the bottom box.

Nice toolbox!

Thanks..
I swear I saw the color code when I pulled the top box left bottom drawer when I recently replaced the sliders. It may be on the bottom too I haven't looked there yet.
If I could find another locker for the other side I'd be completely set. The locker is SWEET and has tons of room. The fridge is the cat's meow when I'm thristy I just reach in for a soda or whatever. Co-workers are already taking them and leaving money inside it. The bottom drawers inside the locker have all my special Starrett tools inside.

Please, that would be very helpful. I called Waterloo and gave them all the numbers from one of the drawers and they said thay no longer have the paint or any kind of code to get it somewhere else.

My box was missing the bottom drawer and could use some re-painting on the front frame.

With a Snap On paint code, I just order it from Snap On or is it a code an auto body supply can mix up for me?

I like that box just the way it is. The color is killer. I have always liked that color on 50's Chevys. Very classy.

Assuming you're going to paint a whole drawer, you're better off getting paint from a body shop supply store. I'm pretty sure all you can get are rattle cans and tiny touch up containers from Snap-on, that's assuming you can still get the color. But you really want to use a spray gun for a drawer. Asside from that, if you want a proper finish, the paint will require mixing with hardener. It will not be the same hardness if you use a rattle can.

Looks like a Chevy color to me. There's some difference in the pictures posted because of different cameras and lighting, but it looks like Tropical Turquoise. Very popular color back in the 50's.

Very nice.
