Nice deal on those Proto.

Joco, neat old wrenches.

This is from flea market stop #2. I picked up an oldie monkey wrench today also.

First group:

-Bemis & Call 12” Billings wrench. I think the markings are for Louisville & Nashville Railroad.
-An older Vise Grip
-some type of large flat blade screwdriver tool with rotating knob
-offset doe 14mm wrench marked TSE7679
-curved Wright line wrench?
-3 more Plomb WF sockets
-2 Plomb short dbe wrenches
-2 unmarked cross bars

-Walden 1/4 ratchet

Group 2:

-3/8 Action ratchet
-1/4 Bonney breaker bar
-Crescent wrench
-Proto screw extractor pouch with two pieces
-Most of a plain steel 1/4 S-K socket set with extension and cross bar
-Snap On punch
- Itma Germany 1/2 extension
-Mac flip socket to go with the Snap On from the other flea
-3 Mac 3/8 drive impacts
-S-K flex sockets and adapters
-Snap On 9/16 combo wrench

Finally,

-a Giller box with a mixed Giller and Thorsen partial set and t handle. No, I didn’t pay anywhere near $15. It was a deal at $2.
- Blackhawk 1/4 rat, and Bonney reefer rat.
- Bell System claw hammer

The rest of the tools were $1 each, which the seller yelled as I approached his table. I ended up with the Dewalt powder nailer, Channellock, Klein strap wrench, and a Chinese bolt cutter that’s rusty but the blades have no wear. I wouldn't have taken the bolt cutter but figure they’re good for one use at least.

Then the seller had no bags, so he says you want the Snap On box? I was like what Snap On box? He flips the lid over for me to see, then dumps out the other stuff inside and gives me this Modis Scanner box for free to carry everything,lol.

My monthly carboot sale was on today. Only bought one item, left behind an adjustable wrench and have great remorse. My uncle was still there so rang him to see if he could get a better deal than I could. Now to stress this before any images, due to our low population density in Ireland I seldom find much of any interest and when I do I have to pay for it. There is no hope of ever finding a good selection and great prices. That's one of the costs of living on this little island.
My purchase was this very interesting (to me at least) Trimo 8" adjustable, in great condition, paint is 98% gone, but that's fine by me, might repaint it, might not. Will see what mood takes me.
P.s. after promising image, where I am currently is a mobile blackspot, and uploading just won't happen till I get back to the 21st century
P.p.s forgot to mention price, €10 which is around $11.40

PM38, doubly great haul!

Is the BP 8" of 8 oz.?

Vise is cool - should post that in the vises thread!

The Giant safety pins I think were and are issued to Marines as a "laundry Pin" for clipping ditty bags shut and to other things.

I used them to hold small ignition wrench sets and by welders to hold I think tip cleaners? Can be very handy.

My flea finds for this morning.

A Versa-vise, Wilton C clamp, SO crowsfoot bar, a long SO flat screwdriver that needs some touch up on the blade.
Bessey clamps, Keen Kutter hatchet.
Rigid tube cutter, next to new Channelok pliers.

I’m having the worst luck buying oilers. Picked up a trigger type Craftsman yesterday, put oil in it, and started pumping it. Oil leaking everywhere then the spout broke off from the pump. Now it sits in the trash.

You know those garage sales where you don't even bother to stop because it's all baby clothes and kids toys?
I wouldn't have bothered with this sale if I was just driving by and saw it. Glad I did, though!

Spotted in one of the pictures on Craigslist, the Starrett name plate. Wasn't sure exactly what I was looking at, and the ad just said "display".

Here is what I found:
Decently large countertop display cabinet for Starrett machinist tools. (I'm guessing based off part numbers in the display itself.) It has a glass front, and looks like you unscrew the top and slide glass out to put tools in the display. It is approx. 18" wide, 18" tall, 16" front to back at bottom and 12" at top.

Around back are 2 locking doors (with a key!) and inside a few shelves to store inventory (sadly no tools came with). I'm guessing this is newer, maybe 90s or 00s. It's in decent overall shape, lots of tape residue & some scratches/scuffs, and needs a cleaning bad. I think it will turn out nice.

Guy I bought it off forgot where he had gotten it, didn't know who Starrett was or what they made, and used it to store documents. I paid his asking price of $10.

Mrs LS announced last night she wasn’t going out this morning, so I flew solo down to Jake’s flea, with a side trip down rt29. $25 bought a spiffy green PortaFile, a crowntop Cman carry box, a Jackson (Disston subbrand) tenon saw, a couple screwdrivers, a Stanley Hurwood awl, a (possibly German) dikes, PS&W shoe nippers, Bonney B26 sidecutting slipjoints, a bronze valve handle, an interesting Champion DeArment pliers, a 1-5/16 Barcalo combo, a Ford script Mossberg ratwrench, four Bonney sockets, a heavy red side-hanging 1/4dr 7-socket tray (no sign of the sockets), a Bonney Zenel 3033C DOE, a Snap-on complimentary 6” rule, an a local advertising aluminum bottle opener.
The dikes are very nice, the second pair I’ve seen like these, but no clue who made them. I had hoped there’d be a mfgr mark, but no.
I don’t see the screwdriver in either online North Bros catalog, nor the Stanley catalogs I’ve seen. Hmmm.

Hit an estate sale late this morning. Old home in an old neighborhood that's being gentrified. Today was 50% off everything. Lot of stuff remained in the separate garage in the back due to being ridiculously overpriced for what was there. I did find this little beauty though.

Purchased yesterday at a sale of an ex GM & Chevy worker. He said it was his first box and said it dated from the 70's. . Good but well used shape. Been looking for a Vulcan box for awhile.

We hit the Tahoe flea this morning with a group of friends. My regular seller had set aside a large group of metric US made Craftsman sockets for me and I found some other interesting tools besides. For the Powr-Kraft box I found an ugly orange drill to match my ugly orange sander I found recently. I found a Danielson and a Diamalloy wartime adjustable, a well used Craftsman =v= ratchet and a P&C ignition wrench.

Mayhew tap handle- I've seen many tap handles, and never one that looked like this. (Nor was I aware Mayhew had been in the tap & die business til now.) Mayhew apparently had their own unique design for the handle itself. The color case hardened finish is stunning, and seems well made.

Judging from a quick search, I bet this originally came in a boxed tap & die set, as there's next to no info on just the handle. Only markings are pictured,

Was lucky to pick these up at an overpriced estate sale because they weren't tagged with an estate sale price. Check out person probably didn't know what they were and I don't think she spotted the retail prices. She was generous.

Full gallon of Evaporust, full can of Briwax (my favorite wax) a quart of JD oil in a cardboard can and a strip of leather for $6.

I have collected quite a few Vulcan tools so this will be dedicated to at least those tools. And as you know the JH Williams and thus Buffalo connection.

Thanks txlonghorn, Not sure who made this generation of Vulcan boxes, I have an older JH Williams (Vulcans Parent Co.) box that looks to have been made by MBC. I think I read on here somewhere that perhaps this generation was made by Waterloo. I haven't seen any markings on it yet but haven't really looked. Edit: upon further perusing of the interwebs it looks like the box was made by MBC, it is a dead ringer for some of their later boxes.

This morning, filled with ambition to use an expired rattle can of Rustoleum Hammered Light Blue, I cleaned up the Craftsman 65161 carry box I bought yesterday, and gave it a facelift. My first time using this paint in spray, rather than brush-on type.
I wasn’t going to spray the interior, but then I thought, “oh, why the hell not?” The initial results were very cool, though I think it had not aged well, because there were a lot of glob-depositing sputters. The second coat, held a little further away, resulted in something more like a crinkle finish than hammered.
So my 1-can advice is: if you want crinkle, keep your distance for both coats; if you want hammered, keep a close distance, at least on the second coat. Either way, seems like a lot of pinholes.
Now I wonder what would happen if you topcoated a flat base layer with thus stuff?

Evening folks, there have been some Crackin finds going on this last week!!

While you've all been SMASHING it I've been pottering around the North of the UK and helping my mom with jobs around her house now dad is gone.

It was her birthday last week and we'd already arranged for my brother, sister and I, plus grandkids to buy her some Lovebirds and cage.

Anyway this resulted in numerous modifications per her request and MANY visits to my favourite Scrap/recycle/craft store for various bits of beading, acrylic sheet, etc....
And which now offers tea/coffee and cake at the back!!
Home made DARK chocolate doughnut!

Anyway the very young birds arrived on Saturday and already keeping her entertained [emoji1]

Right with the Lovebirds installed and entertaining mum I hit two markets Sunday

First one netted the following from right to left:
= Grosvenor Tape measue
= Two tiny G-clamps (on top of tape)
= small File brush
= Small Governor wooden screw driver
= Moore&Wright ratchet screwdriver
= Small angular headed hammer on poor handle, marked 1917
= A steel latch off something..... Perfect bottle opener

= Small Japanese made modellers vice with dynamic rear jaw.
= old oil can
= plant sprayer
= 2 x Terracotta wine cooler table pots... Make great deep flower pots

Second market didn't turn up alot of tools.
I did PASS on a complete set of modern Snap-on imperial sockets for £40....just didn't get a good vibe from the guy.

Right to Left again
= Four turned bowls wooden - a bit of resin and should make nice succulent plant pots
= Crude wooden garden tool caddy
= J&P tappet tool set, made in UK
= Small HUNTER pocket terminal driver
= A..... "doodad"..... Not sure what this T-SHAPED tool is but guy threw it in with the rest.
= Home made Brass hole gauge. It's square stock a useful brass wedge!!
= KING **** adjustable, made in UK
= SMITHS twist timer, taken off the top of an old cooker... It still keeps time with my digital kitchen timer!!!!

While at the estate sale where the newest Beach TB came from I found a handful of items that finally made their way out of the truck.Wrenches from Snap On ,Proto,Plomb,Herbrand,BluePoint and Craftsman. Sockets from Craftsman,Herbrand,and Cornwell. Snap On Hard Handle from an afr20, Peterson Vise Grips and a guage-it thickness guage all totaled was $5 not including the Beach,which IS still in the truck,thanks to a tonneau cover,my laziness,and the utter lack of room.
