I have an older Homak 41" roller & chest. The non-ball bearing slides have always been sticky in cold weather. When I contacted Homak a few months ago to inquire if perhaps new (maybe ball bearing!) slides were available, my email went unanswered for weeks. To their credit they did finally answer, but the answer was that they were the "New" Homak Company and my box was built by the "Old" Homak Company and no information or parts for my old box were available. Oh, and here's a link to a manufacturer of drawer slides. Good Luck!"
So I knew then that they were not a good customer service based company.

Instead I upgraded to a new US General 72" roller with 44" & 26" chests on top from the brand new HF store a mile up the road from me. All in stunningly gorgeous green.

The entire purchase experience was great from the pre-sale through to the delivery, with the staff always friendly and helpful. They helped me uncrate the 72" roller and load it in our trailer and then loaded the chests. Each item was crated/boxed up well and each piece came out without a singe scratch or ding.

Will HF offer any better customer service and parts availability than Homak down the road?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but then again for the price I paid, the value is already unbeatable. And the convenience of picking them up a mile from home where I could refuse any damaged units? Priceless.

That's awesome, we need some pics of that setup!

I wound up making the same decision myself (albeit in blue). As much as I shopped around, I always wound up back at the 72" US General. Made the purchase last month and I couldn't be happier with my decision.

I almost went with the blue! It is gorgeous as well. In fact I was so sure that I wanted blue that I bought a blue glove dispenser and a blue paper towel holder about two months before and had stuck them on the old black Homak.

The green as displayed on the website or in most printed advertising isn't at all accurate (or attractive) and I've never seen any display boxes in green. Once the manager assured me that the green on the big boxes was the same as the green on the tool carts, I was sold. HF was awesome and let me exchange the glove and paper towel holders for green as I was still inside the 90 day no questions asked guarantee. I was also going to bolt a green tool cart shelf on the left side of the 72" box because I wanted a place to set tools down after a job to wipe them down before I put them away but after putting tools in every dang drawer I've also taken that back and have ordered one of the 14.5" side drawers. That arrives in November. I'm working under the delusion that I'll never fill that one up. :bounce:

Okay, sorry for the hijack. Back to the regularly scheduled Homak programing.

I was told yesterday that the drawer slides would ship today. So far, no tracking information has been provided.

Slides arrived. Homak has come through with what they agreed to once I contacted them about the damaged box. It sure took forever though. I'll probably remove that bottom handle and the top couple drawers are still a mess so I didn't show them.

I'll quit my complaining now.

I'm still waiting on a few more items. It also looks like I've got room for a deep set of SAE impacts, so I'll be ordering those soon.

It sure seems smaller than the 54" x 18" deep Cornwell bottom box I had previously, but it was an unorganized mess.

Here's some pictures.

Looks great! And it looks like you still have plenty of room for more tools! Glad to hear Homak made it right for you.

Two questions:

What brand of screw driver holder is that in the 4th pic?
What brand of wrench holder is that in the 8th pic?

I'm understanding. I get it, **** happens, but what makes or breaks a company is how they respond when something like this does happen.

Having to wait more than 30 days since I took delivery for replacement parts is not how you treat a customer. I wouldn't of even bothered contacting Homak had the box arrived with just the minor scratchs and dents, but it's not like I can go out and get matching casters at Harbor Freight.

I feel your pain, ordered mine through Napa. Similar damage to yours found once I got it home and unboxed. Caster was tweaked a bit but the frame was bent to where the caster was leaning over ~20 deg.

Contacted Napa, offered to bring it back and drop it off to be exchanged as there was more damaged than JUST a caster. Was told to hold onto it until Homak replied. Got the run around, Napa got the run around from Homak. This went on for almost 3 months. Homak didn't want to exchange the box, just wanted to give something like a $200 "refund". I refused the "refund" due to the extent of damage, requested an exchange. Communication stopped, contacted Homak directly, never got anything back from them.

At this point, after getting the run around with no solution for what was creeping up on 90 days (credit card claim cut off). I contacted my CC company and explained the situation, forwarded emails, photos, etc. Company immediately issued a claim. Never heard another word from Homak or Napa, they never responded to the CC company either. CC company issued full refund (including accrued interest on the balance) and had to wait a full billing cycle for Napa/Homak to request the box be returned. Again, no response.

Plus side is the CC company took care of me and I essentially got the box for "no money."

Down side was I got 4 MONTHS behind on projects and shop work due to keeping all the packaging materials, pallets, and the boxes apart in preparation for needing more pics or needing to pack it up and haul it back with little notice. I would have MUCH rather had the box exchanged in a timely manor.

Moral of the story, ALWAYS use a credit card to make big purchases like this. Wait until the item is delivered and in hand, undamaged. THEN pay off the balance. I'm confidant if I had paid with cash or debit card, I would have been screwed.

Very true. Always cover your *** on big purchases like these.

Was it NAPA or Homak that ate the loss? Either way, you'd think they'd of still been money ahead exchanging your box.

So many anecdotal reports of these Homak boxes being damaged in shipping. They look like nice boxes but I've struck them off of my short list for fear of not being able to get one without damage. Homak needs to get their act together as these damaged boxes are killing their business.

No idea on who ultimately ate the cost, neither company bothered to respond to the claim.

I like the box, don't regret the purchase, but Homak really needs to get their act together on the packaging. Simply shipping without casters attached would eliminate problems like you and I had.

Is amazing Homak seems do nothing on improving pallet packing or improve customer support.
Some of products not bad but for the higher cost you want better packing or at least be sure they proactive with damage claims .
Also the single slides on the same size drawer on 2bay boxes is sure sign of penny pinching .
Hard beat the masterforce boxes for quality and also has better locking catch design over Homak.
Homak could do well if upped the product and customer service, as is they likely be another closing doors if don't step up the game .

I found it odd that the main full length (socket)drawer on my 41" only came with the single slide on each side, but all of other deep drawers have the dual slides, even the narrower drawers.

That is my only real criticism of the box itself. It's got dual slides now though.

Long time lurker. Thank you for all these posts, pictures, and information.

I bought a 54" RS a couple months ago and love it. However I've been emailing with Homak since September 23 trying to buy an extra set of drawer sliders. Every couple weeks i'll get a short response. I'm trying to be patient but it's ridiculous how hard it is to buy something from them. Really poor customer service, but the box is great.

I have had my masterforce box for a year now and I wanted a homak but the price difference and the long lead times made me go masterforce. I picked it up at the store cut the box open inspected it and they even used their fork lift to take it off the pallet for me and I rolled it up my trailer.

I called them and ordered, had the slides in about 3 weeks after ordering by phone.

Anyone local to MN want one of these? I love the box, worked out of it for a few months, looks brand new, draw liners are all very clean and it looks almost unused (I'm kinda **** about keeping **** fairly clean) but moved to a shop that boxes are supplied, dealership uniformity and all. I'm running out of room in the garage. I'm not looking to really offload for dirt cheap as I can make room if need be, but figured if anyone wants to look at and buy an orange one I'm sure I can sell for a reasonable price! If I dont sell it I'll just keep buying more tools to fill it up with that I dont need, with money I dont have, which I suppose is the nature of most us GJ members :D Not the worst problem I suppose

Re: Homak RS-Pro 72" Tool Box

Love them socket holders, all of them really, but specifically the red and black ones in the foreground. What brand or did they come with the sockets?

Dual drawer sliders on the top drawer. The RS Pro doesn't have that as standard. Nice box and price.

I didn’t know that, yeah this box has exceeded my expectations repeatedly. Like I said for the price, tough to beat. I almost pulled the trigger on a 52.5 Husky till I found this, luck for sure

People reported their 72" boxes coming with them, just not the 54" boxes for whatever reason, and I cant say on the smaller sizes. Seems odd. That RSPro looks great for the price!

Looking to pull the trigger on a 54 combo early in January, hold out for Napa real deals? I thought they were on sale in a Q4 flier but I don't see them anymore.

Moving from Toronto to Seattle!

How do you like the Toolbox Widgets?

They do the job, but they seem light duty and are quite pricey. For my uses I'm sure they'll be fine. What you are looking at took 5 packs of organizers @ $24.95 a pack regular price.

One thing to note. The screwdrivers are not magnetically held in place, so if you rotated my example 90 degrees, opening and closing the drawer would cause the screwdrivers to roll around.

Yes I remember that, I ordered a 54" and ordered extra rails and installed before loading drawer so no baseline of how the drawer would feel without them.
