OP

Thanks. And that's the truth.Isn't old stuff so much better than anything new. Amazing find, I'm Jealous.
I hear you. The chest itself is fairly compact: 10" high x 10" wide by 13" deep. And the drawers are only 1-1/2" high except the bigger one which is 2". But with the lid flipped open, they're 26" long!Lugz,
Those drawers could never be used in my shop.
I can never find three square inches of clear bench space to set them on to open one!![]()
Thanks, J.! I already sanded down the blight on the chest. Going to hit the drawer faces tomorrow morning. Maybe get a base coat on tomorrow afternoon, techniques on Monday.Shame you found all that rust, but it does look much better without the 'kermit green'! I suppose the original paint is fairly thin. Watching with interest to see the restoration process and results on this one, it's with the right person to do it.
Thanks, Arne!Nice work Lugz!
Thanks, mine is pretty much in as issued condition but no instructions. It did have newspaper packing dated Dec44.The small grommet that I wanted to mount was pretty easy. The insert and anvil were in a different drawer and once I found them it was readyI would call that likely with original issue. None came with mine and I have not looked for one. The only fasteners I've used (or plan to use) were four grommets, to hang a couple vintage military toolkit inspection layouts, actual size silhouette style, as dust curtains on my workbenches, and that was simple. I have seen instructions on line when I was googling some of the part numbers.
