Anyone else know anything about Skyway tool company? This tool is from the B26 collection I have. Just wondering about the history of the company. I don't see it on Alloy Artifacts. I would like to find more information if possible.

Skyway Tool Center was founded by Douglas Gillis in Paradise, California in 1986 and moved to Chico, California in 1993. What began as a tiny shop with a few tools became a thriving business carrying over ten thousand different types of tools and supplies. In 1989 Doug met his wife, Sherry, and she came on board as the Business Manager.

SkywayTools.com was launched in 1995 and we guarantee fast shipping, friendly service and good, quality tools you can count on. At SkywayTools.com we believe our business is more than just trying to sell tools. Our goal is to keep people working by providing the best service possible.

Wrong Skyway.

This tool dates to pre 1958. Likely somewhere in the late 30's or early 40's though it could be as late as 1958

This picture shows the writing on this side. "U.S. TORQUE SETTING 15 IN LBS - PAT. PENDING" It was use in the maintenance of the B-26. Not exactly sure what for however.

In this image you can see that it says "SKYWAY PRECISION TOOL CO, LOS ANGELES, CALIF."

I am interested in learning more about the company and what happened to it as well as trying to figure out what exactly it was used for.

Oh. Sorry about that.

I'll be watching this thread with interest, I'd like to know more about the 'old' Skyway too.

Wonder what would happen if you called the new Skyway and asked about the old Skyway. They MUST have heard about it.

I read up on the "new" Skyway. I really don't think they have a clue as to the old company with the similar name. I did write them a letter asking for information. If I get a response, I'll let you know.

We used to use those at my old work for hose clamps... that's pretty much what they're meant for from my experience. I'm sure they could be used for other applications.

Bumping up this old thread as I am researching a Skyway ST 750 Torque Ratchet which I posted on the Ratchet Collection thread on the Vintage tool forum here on GJ. My searches brought me to this thread, as well as a more recent post from T56 Impala on the A. Plomb Calif-Tool thread on this forum potentially tying Skyway to Plomb. Here is a link to the two post I made last night on the Ratchet Collection thread:

And here is a link to the post on the A. Plomb thread referenced above
https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=585285&postcount=13

As I am an avid Plomb collector, and now own this cool Skyway piece, I am obviously curious to learn more.
