I've been looking at these for awhile and really could use the space they free up. Like most things on the internet lately the shipping is killing me picking one up. Most of the shipping I have seen is $10.00+

Anyone have the low down on a deal?

Nobody, I haven't found any price shipped much different from all the rest (at least on the cheap end).

Lowes,home depot, walmart

Coated wire shelving ( like what people put in closets)

Make a couple bends in it and it's exactly like the pliers rack

I cut up a dish rack as well. Works fine.

I get them at the thrift store somewhere around $0.25 ea....even cheaper than Walmart.

I picked up a wire rack organizer for $5.00 today at Lowes. Snapped two feet that were sticking out and good to go.

After seeing the DIY racks I decided to give it a shot. I went with the vinyl dipped dish rack. I was able to find black dipped ones at Wal-Mart for about $8.00 a piece. Two of the dish racks will yield 24 plier slots in a 26" wide by 2.5" deep drawer. Honestly it looks like the real thing once it's loaded up and it's functions just as i had hoped. That being said I will admit it doesn't hold as much as the real thing but for my home mechanic needs it will do just fine. It's a nice bonus that it really looks like that's what it was meant for and not some cobbled together thing.

The only problem was realizing I don't really have many needle nose pliers... So i wandered over to Harry Epstein to fill in some holes in my rack. I
Thanks to the guys for the DIY input

I originally bought mine from cornwell with the intention of buying some wire rack and copying the bends then selling them to the guys at work to make my money back.

Mine worked so well they all bought one the next week.

I still need one for the house though, been to busy to fuss with it though.

Made mine from a DVD tower cut in half. It lets me stack a bunch of pliers in a drawer. and by putting the two haves next to each other, my long pliers are supported.

I'm thinking of putting an angled bend to all of the tines so I can see the sides of the pliers to be sure I am grabbing the correct tip. Plus, as you can see, my live hinge pliers from Facom stick up and sometimes catch the top when closing the drawer.

I took some small zip ties and made a loop. Then I just slip the loop over the tip and it holds them shut. Easy on and easy off. Just throw the loop in the drawer when you pull the pliers out so you dont loose it

Can someone measure the spacing on the real pliers rack and tell me what it is? I believe there is a set of thick slots, and a set of thin slots. I just need to know how much spacing is between the wires in inches please.

Thanks!

No, Plyworx rack spacing is all same. Some thick comfort handles will not fit, you have to jaw side into the slot.

Snap-on pliers fit perfect, no side to side play.

"The "PliersRack" is 30 inches long and holds 32 pliers in a drawer that is only 2 1/2 inches deep. By placing the rack at the rear of the drawer your pliers will stay in place when you shut the drawer. You may also place the rack along the side of the drawer. The rack has 10 extra wide spaces for insulated handles. The rack is made of 3mm steel wire and coated with vinyl to last a lifetime."

Snap-on sells Pliers Racks?

Northern Tool seemed the cheapest/easiest for me. There's a few other folks selling them for a few pennies cheaper, but you take your chances with them, whereas Northern Tool has always been pretty reliable.

Got a link? I couldn't find them there, and I'm considering the purchase of a couple more for some other stuff...

I considered this route, but I'd need 3 or more dish racks to hold as many pliers as the plier rack. Not enough savings to be worth the hassles. I'm quite happy with my pliers rack.
