I enjoy this thread. There must be some genetic instruction that causes garage persons to be dog people too.

That is a textbook looking dog.

Thanks CASE! He is the good hunter and a great family dog. No joke, my wife was going to get me cufflinks for our wedding, and I told her the dog would be a better gift. :)

Our dog came in yesterday with a cereal box stuck on his head. Guess dogs can have a bad day too.

Had to put down my Dobie a couple years ago and just let what's available run around here. The cat is actually pretty cool she comes when called and keeps my chest warm these days.

This is Bella, she was found around some dumpsters when she was about 5 months old. We think she is about 18 monts old now. We are thinking LabxRott mix, but not sure what she is.

Here are my two little terrors, Frank... and Oscar.

I can't see the photo too clearly; on vacation surfing on my phone. But I THINK I see Dachsunds(?). Excellent names for them but I've always thought it'd be funny to have two weiner dogs and name them Link and Patty! ( My warped sense of humor I suppose.

It probably doesn't help that the picture was taken with a junky iPhone camera, but you are correct. They (dachshunds) are certainly a breed of their own. They are stubborn as hell, honery, and sometimes just a plain ole pain in the ***... BUT they have the most 'personality' out of any dog I've ever met. I'd recommend them to anyone, so long as you have a good amount of patience...

Here is a picture I just took of them laying on me:

and here is a blown up version of the first one, maybe it will be easier to see:

Yup, they are lovable (yet stubborn) lap dogs to their owner, and fierce little sticks of dynamite to anyone else! haha

Mine, Frankie, has got to be about 10 years old, and she dominates our 2-yr-old bulldog. He's her *****!

I absolutely love them, I've been waiting to find a cropped/docked rescue to show up at a shelter near me (it's rare, but happens).

Rare...maybe, but I can understand why after having this handful for a couple months:

There have been times when my wife and I have looked at each other and asked "What the hell did we get ourselves into?"

Her name is Isis, and here she is playing with the current owner of our house (Kaya):

We just got our Vizsla "Logan" this past Sunday. He's 9 weeks old.

I think I posted puppy pictures of his big brother "Luke" some pages back.

My Faithful Friend

When our Rottweiler Chewbakka was six, he somehow broke the ligaments that held his rear lower leg to the joint. His lower leg dangled freely. We were horrified. He underwent three operations, involving special plastic straps to hold his leg in place, and I said to myself I would be happy if he could at least walk the short distance to the corner from our house. By some miracle, Chewbakka began to walk again. He limped, but didn't seem in much pain, and was able to get past that corner and even on longer walks.

The other year, when he was 12, Chewbakka broke something in his leg again and could not stand. Considering his age, I thought he would not be able to recover this time. He was operated on again and for some weeks just lay down, apparently in pain. It hurt me to see him. We would lift him up in a blanket and keep him in the library or kitchen, wherever we were, so he would have company. Several times a day, we would lift him on this cart to bring him to the garden so he could stay on the grass. Friends would visit, like the two kids in the picture. He appreciated this. Later, we put Chewy in a 4-wheeled "walker," which supported his body and helped him strengthen his legs.

Eventually, we were able to remove the walker, and he walked again! Here he is, beside his walker and being naughty. We were so happy.

Sadly, Chewy left us last year; they don't last very long, I am afraid. But he was a brave dog who overcame whatever befell him and, until the very end, was active, happy, and always conscious of his role as protector and guard. He was one dog who was always excited to be in the workshop; he would yelp and pirouette if it looked like I was headed there. I am hoping his successor Sundance will be a garage dog as well.

A picture I stumbled onto today reminded me of him, so I wanted to post these to remember my old friend.

Andres

The only dog in the house that answers to me, all of the others are my wife's show dogs, except "Arabica" aka Glentom Cocoa Mint Expresso

Two Keeshond rescues in my garage. Harley and Indy. They are always just laying around within a few feet of me in the garage, all day/ every day.

If I go from standing at the workbench to crawling around the bikes or truck, they are right there with me. I sometimes use Harley as a pillow when I'm on the floor instead of the floor creeper. Awesome dogs with a very laid back loving temperament.

this is our newest edition... his name is trashcan, and he's a Chug. lol
half chiuahah or however the hell u spell it, and half pug... my 7 year old boy said "I want a pug and name him trashcan" about 6 months ago, so today he got his wish...
the big boy is Brutus, our 8 month old, 95 pound, italian mastiff... it was "interesting" the first few hours with trashcan in the house, but they're becoming buddies quickly..
