Well I finally installed my Mr Heater 45,000 Big Maxx. Installed with brackets across the joists and threaded rod and double nut.

I ran CSST (yellow jacket) gas line from the basement to the attached garage. Coming threw the ceiling beside heater.

Ran BX cable for power to the garage from the main power panel to the ceiling above unit. Used a 15 amp breaker, so the unit has its own line. Installed a service switch by heater and hard wired power to heater.

Installed t-stat (Pro1) and ran 18/6 wire (tie wrapped to the main power cable) to heater unit, hooked up the G for the fan only option.

Had to go with the vertical venting, due to code issues (better safe then sorry). Will have pictures of venting soon.

I must Thank all you fine Men and Women on this site for the wealth of knowledge and sharing of information.

I just saw two Mr. Heater units at Lowes. The 45K unit was less than $400 IIRC.

How do you like yours?

Re: Mr Heater 45,000 Big Maxx Install

Well I finally installed my Mr Heater 45,000 Big Maxx. Installed with brackets across the joists and threaded rod and double nut. The unit is flush to the ceiling (1 inch clearance) as per installation instructions). I think this must help with vibration; there is no vibration from unit.

The t-stat is working great. I have it set for the 2 deg cut in cut out cycle.

Had to go with the vertical venting, due to code issues (better safe then sorry). Will have pictures of venting soon. I have added a picture of the venting from the heater 4 inch b vent.

Picked my heater up at Lowes in the U.S. The 45,000 unit was $377.00.

I must Thank all you fine Men and Women on this site for the wealth of knowledge and sharing of information.

Do you have enough clearance between the top of the heater and the ceiling? (I don't know what the spec is, but it looks like it is only an inch or two between the two...)

Yes it does look close. If you use the brackets that come with the heater, they provide the proper clearance of 1 inch from the top. The top stay's pretty cool. As well the drywall in my garage has a fire rating. They are a excellent heater for low ceiling garage's. You also require 1 inch from the bottom, 18 inch from the accsess panel side (which you can invert the heater to have on the other side) and 1 inch from the opposite side.
