Autoclassic, Harasho, Hypnotoad or anybody else that actually has one of these buildings. I have a couple of questions. So instead of junking up ya'lls threads I figured I would start a new one.

First I will explain what I'm doing. My building as bought (secondhand never installed) is 25 wide 30 deep by 13 tall. My eventual length will be 38 (easly done by adding more arches). However I want to put a lift in and have some loft storage, so building needs to grow taller. I would like the lift to be as far to the side as possible without making the building as tall as the house. My side wall piece is currently 65" and I was told I could buy 44" pieces to "extend" the side walls making them 100" (considering a 9" overlap). This would make my building 16'4.5" at the peak. What I don't know is if this is going to be enough to put the lift to the side and not right in the middle of my building. So what I don't know is - how much the first arch rises before it really curves (for a total side wall hieght) and then what the slope of the roof is after that. I might need to go with 65" extention pieces making the pure verticle pieces 121" after overlap. Again I don't know what to how much the curve raises the verticle before it curves and what the rise/run is after the curve. I hope this makes sense.

This is why my question of measuring hieght at 1 foot increments up to about 4-6 feet from the side wall.
Autoclassic - it would be nice to also know how tall your verticle peices were (I guessing 100").

Also for help the lift is a Rotary SPOA9EH2 meaning it is 13'8" tall and 11'5" wide. I think I can remove the "EH2" (extended height) piece and bring it down to standard height of 11'8".

Truck,
THe inside shoulder of my building is roughly 9 feet.

I will see if I can scan in the dimensions page from the instructions manual.

If you got the manuals and drawings with your bldg, have a look through them. This will give you a good idea of what you want to do.

I am not the engineer on your building, so I cannot say whether adding the extra legs to raise the sides is a good idea or not.

I can say be careful as you get started. It is very flimsy for the first few sections. It will probably be even more so with that extra height on the sides.

Be sure to have some one or two persons responsible to keep it torqued so it will not collapse.

I would call the engineer at the factory. I found some design flaws on my building and they were very receptive to my revisions. I am sure they will readily discuss the prospects of raising the building as you want to. They may suggest adding some verticle or angled ribs to stabilize it.

If you don't have the phone number, let me know and I will be happy to supply you with the number at the factory.

As far as the lift goes, I would think it depends on what you want to do with the lift. If you want to store one vehicle under another, then I would put the lift down the middle. If you just need to get it to working height, you could possible set it to the side.

One possibility I am considering for my building is adding a roll up door to the back of the building, so I can pass through the building without having to back out.

I will be curious to see what you come up with.

Good Luck,

Harasho, I talked to somebody at the American Steel plant in PA, that is who told me about the extensions. However if you have the name & number of somebody else I would love to get a second opinion. Lift will not be for storage, it will be used for working on vehicles. But I also don't want to lose the floor space in the shop, thus pushing it over to the side as much as possible. The plan is to have a 16' W x 10' H garage door on the front and a 8 or 9' W x 8.5' H door offset hard left in the back. The shop will be crossing my fence line so this will also give me access to the backyard.

Autoclassic, Thanks those measurement are very helpful. I will lay it out on paper tomorrow and see what I get. The manuals and drawing I have are not to scale (very disappointed) that is why I'm drawing it out myself.

Thanks Ya'll,

Truck
