27mm Pittsburgh Pro deep impact socket. Which I promptly hacked up with a dremel tool and cutoff disc to make a tool for my air compressor. Check out the "compressor valve tool" thread, I posted pics! Really a nice socket before I chopped it up.

Pitts pro 27mm deep impact socket, 32mm Pitts pro impact socket, the 5 or 6 piece plastic trim tool set, and a few odds and ends I can't remember. The impact sockets were purchased for oil filter sockets, but they actually look to be of higher quality than the $20 deep set I bought there 12 or so years ago that have been abused daily in the shop since and have all survived (except the 7/8" which I broke with an SO im6100 using it to remove a set of wheel locks that had a broken key.)

I was replacing ball joints in my ford dually, so wanted to try out some of the HF stuff:

The 20-ton press.

Used the $149 coupon from a post on GJ. It’s a HF, China press, so don’t expect a Dake. My comments are based on that fact: I liked that it has all welded joints, except for the feet, which I’m sure is a practicality for packaging; I got the plates with the various notches, and I like them better than the flat rectangles, seems they may come with either, not sure; comes in 3 boxes, one being the main frame, don’t know why, but that’s where they threw my plates and they were loose. Seems like it would make more sense to put them in one of the other, smaller boxes, but that just might have been a one-off with the one I got; finish is pretty but not all that durable. Used it to press out the upper BJ with some sockets (no specialty adapters), worked like a charm. Then pressed both uppers and lowers back in with various adapters (see below), all good. For $150, I’m happy.

4 wheel drive ball joint kit

No great deal, on sale for $70 less 20%, but I wanted to try it. Guys have complained about bending the C-frame, doesn’t seem like an easy task. Only concern I would have is the threads, but if you lube them and work smart, should be ok. Used it to remove a lower BJ, using kit adapters and a craftsman ½” impact, success. No bending, squeaking or concern about the threads giving. Worked well enough to keep, even though it will probably get little use now that I have the press.

14pc master ball joint adapter set

Just happened upon this in the clearance bin for $45, it was tagged as missing 1 item, but… it wasn’t. Showed it to the manager, he said good to go. Some duplication with the base kit, above, but still a good variety. I’ve always gotten by with sockets and such, but figured maybe it was time to have this much variety in one place, for one purpose. Just an observation, this kit has a flat black finish, but the base kit is gloss.

I’ll get much more use out of the 20-ton, even for ball joint work, but I’m sure I’ll run into occasions where the two kits will come in handy, and for the price, that works for me.

I only ever use the third one from the left, it's holding up pretty well, I abuse the hell out of it.

Pneumatic body saw - let's just say, it's the reason I've sworn off bottom of the barrel tools.

3/8" Quick Release Swivel Head Ratchet
1/4" Stubby Swivel Head Ratchet
8 Piece Star Bit Socket Set
4 fl. oz. Air Tool Oil

Don't even need the 1/4 stubby but its kinda slick and seems like that tool that'll get you out of a tight spot(Or into one rather). Looked around the store for a good bit, you can really tell the difference between the Chinese and Taiwanese stuff.

Today I bought an adjustable pin wrench for grinders and a 12volt heater/fan. Last week I got a serpentine belt tool and a Pitt. Pro Metric socket set-I had to do some stuff my dads car and had no tools available. I like the ratchet in the kit, the sockets seem to be so-so quality-at least compared to my Allen and KD's

Got my SO stud welder stolen a few weeks ago. Picked up the HF version, cuz I don't have an extra 4 or 5 hundred dollars right now. Long story short, the HF stud gun works. Not very well, it overheats easily, and has little power, the included slide hammer is trash. But... it is getting the job done on light damage, but just doesn't have the power to firmly weld pins for heavy damage or on heavier gauge - they pop right off after a couple of pulls. I have to follow them up with a tack or two before pulling.
Verdict - fair price for what it can do, but will be buying a proper stud gun soon.

I thought I was making a mistake when I bought the Chicago 5" random orbital palm sander. It goes against everything I believe in (in tools) to buy an electric power tool at HF. But I needed to sand the bottom paint off of my boat. I figured on sale for $15 with coupon - if it lasts for the job great. It's a messy job and I did ruin a my nice Porter-Cable sander the year before.

Turns out the damn thing has lasted quite well. I make sure to blow it out with compressed air after use...I certainly got my money out of it after that first use...the rest is just gravy now!

Socket rails, LED flashlights, toolbox drawer liners, and snap-ring pliers.

The rails and the liners are fine, should have bought a couple more packages. Hopefully there's an LED flashlight in every room, car, toolbox, cubbyhole, and pocket in the house. Used them once, and I'm already wishing I'd just spent the money on a decent pair of Snap-ring pliers...
