First off, I do not know who Homer A List is. What I was told is he was a Journeyman carpenter in san Francisco. I aquired these tools from a retired Vegas cop that knew Homer many years ago and was given his tool chest after Homer either retired or died.

I have an affinity for old tools, my dad still has my grandpaws planes and a few other things. Grandpaw was a Journeyman MASON AND CARPENTER chasing work from Sioux City Iowa to Oregon from the 30s to 50s. He landed back in South Dakota in the 50s and that is how we call this place home.

Back to Homer. I listen to a lot of AM and we have a market show on Saturday mornings, I have found a ton of huge scores by responding to these callers. A 1955 Johnson outboard, 1 owner and mint, a score of 70s Coleman camping gear, and Homers Job Box. Sadly most of the calls I show up to are either widows or in the case of Homer a pal of the late Craftsman. But if these tools couls talk!?

Homers tools, handmade job box.

Anything modern in that box is mine. I got to the sale late, about 50% of the drawers were empty and the stuff sold off. I am honored each time I use Homers tools. I mounted a doorset today and mortised it all with his tools. Thank you Homer Godspeed!

I hate to say what I payed but it was less than a meal at the Steakhouse, I spent an hour or two talking with the old boy that was selling it. Long story there. I think Homer built the Job Box. It is an amazing solid piece. The locking front door is missing but you can see a true craftsman built the thing. As for Homer, Every tool has his name carved into them.

That is really neat. I am sure that if Homer had known that his tools (or at least half of them) ended up being cared for and kept together after his passing, he's have been happy about it.

That is badass. And its badass that you're keeping his stuff together and using it. Good on you.

We can only hope our stuff is so cherished after we pass.

I would not be suprised if Homer made that box.

Pretty sure he did, I nee to look around it for some ID.
