Hey all,
The concrete is being poured this week in my garage. Then after curing I'll be ordering the lift. I'm in the Richmond area and got some pricing and it sounds like 700 to have the lift installed. I'm reasonably competent and was wondering how hard are these to install myself? 700 can pay for other stuff.
Looking at the BendPac APR-10A

Last November I had Rotary Revolution 10,000# installed for ~$600 up here in Southern Wi. The guys that installed mine were super. They let me help when I could and explain what they were doing. Could a competent person install one themselves? Sure, once you had some friends help the columns stood up where you want them. The question is, will you feel safe/confident with you, your family and friends working under it if you install it yourself. Only you can decide that. For $600, in this situation, I felt better letting the pros do it.

Two of these guys left after the columns were set. The remaining employee then drilled the holes, set the anchors and assembled the lift.

Getting the columns inside your shop and stood up will be the hardest part.

It's pretty damn easy. Get a friend or two. Spend a little extra time making sure the columns are squared up BEFORE you break out the drill, after that it's pretty basic.

If you are mechanically inclined at all, you can install it with a buddy or two. I haven't installed a 2 post, but we did our 4 post, and it was real easy. The only "hard" part is moving some of the heavy parts around (which is why you need beer and some buddies). It's a relatively simple machine

Work 1st then the beer when done. Otherwise smart way to get 'er done.

I've done a 4 post with a friend before but it's hard to mess up something with 4 legs. LOL

Recently helped out scrapping an old lift. The 2 main posts are HEAVY!!! It was only a 8k lift but don't know how we would have moved it without the forklift.
