I missed a chance to get a NIB magnetic rca tool holder. It was on a radio site I go to and had just been bought when I found it.
Here is the holder.
Seeing that I really could use one I decided to make one. I started with a magnetic tool holder , I bought a set of 3 at northern tool. Here is the set and it was on sale when I went to the store.
I started with this ad from the late 50s.
I cut out the RCA emblem and silverama name. I put them side by side and cleaned them up. This is what I wound up with. I didn't do white letters due to the way the lettering was made. It wasn't exactly like original and the letters blended in when they were white.
And after they were trimmed.
To get the original GRIP sticker off I heated it slightly as not to weaken the magnets. Then I used 3M headliner glue on the back of the new RCA sticker. I let it get tacky then pressed on the magnets. And here is the new RCA sliverama magnetic tool holder. Silverama was RCAs picture tube in the 50s. Here is the finished product.
I plan on mounting them on my new workbench I modeled after a alemite workbench. To see the bench go to my shop post linked below. You could do this with almost any ad that will fit you can think of. Easy and quick to make.
