I need ideas on how to lay it out! Thanks in advance!!!!!

Little vague there...

How big is it? (my definition of a "1 car" is probably different that someone else's)
What's going in it?
Work in or just storage?

I'd be glad to spit out some ideas, just got to know what we're dealing with. ;)

There's a whole lot you can do with a 1-car, as many people on this board will attest to. One of my fav's is in Indianapolis. Once you get some photos of the space up, I'm sure the suggestions will start rolling your way.

Sorry, I see where there was too little information...

I'll have to wait until I get home to give you the exact size, but my daily driver is an '11 Impala, and its big enough to get the car in and open the doors, and have about 5 foot left in the front and back.

I don't care about ever parking the car in there, my vision is more of a shop area than a place to park the car.

My 4 yr old son and I both have roll around tool boxes, I have a Miller 180 Tig Welder, a grinder and a belt sander on a pedestal stands. I have an engine puller that folds up, and a engine stand. I've got about 10 jack stands. I have a metal table that I weld on, that I was thining about putting in the middle like and island??

I'll try and post some pictures of it how it is now...but its all just stacked in the garage now, I just moved in over the weekend.

Ok, here is a picture of what I'm working with space and tool wise. I'm thinking about the drill press in the far left corner, at an angle, by the fuse panel? The supports for the legs my table are in an "H", I'm wouldn't mind modifying it and putting the welder under it, but then there is the issue of the tank and the cord.

I've never been a fan of a drill press in a corner because it seems like every time I need to drill something long I am forever pulling it out or turning it.

If that was mine I would setup a "working side" and a "tool side". Keep the things like the cherry picker, ramps, and tool chests on the right side of the garage and things like the welder and the drill press on the left. Makes it easier to clean and makes the the entire middle open.

Jay! As the crow flies, probably right across the river from you...in Baskett, just outside of Henderson towards Owensboro.

Where ever you put the cherry picker, I'd hang the ramps on the wall above it. Can the engine stand be broke down to hang on the wall also ? That type of stuff takes up so much floor space.

Good idea! No the engine stand does not fold up. In fact, I hate the way the legs are, its more stable I think than the stand that have one leg, but its much harder to store with the two legs. I welded an nice aluminum drip pan for it, but have thought many times about modifying it, but think back to how stable and easy it was to roll around when I mocked up a 514 BBF with a 6-71 and carbs on it.

I've been thinking about my "island" idea... I could put the metal welding table against the wall (I like RCman's idea of a work side and tool side) with the welder, and build a bigger wood work bench/storage area for the island. I'm an Graphic Arts teacher, and could probably get the wood from the carpentry teacher, thoughts?

I like the dedicated welder table and the separate island idea. Mobile?
