I just got in from the garage. My body clock is still on night shift. I hung this 66" GULF sign a little while ago and admired it while drinking some Yuenglings.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I pulled my old Simplicity snow blower out of the garden shed, checked for oil, put fuel in it and fired it up after sitting for 8 years. It started the 2nd pull. :bounce: I think it's a '68 model my Dad bought new. I put a new motor on it in about '88 and used it until'99 when I moved into my current house and got a plow for the truck. I didn't like shoveling a path to the new garage I built last year very much, so I thought I would start using this again. :headscrat It seemed to work so well I even put a path around the yard for my very old dog so her life might be a little easier. :eyecrazy:

I see you have a motorhome in the garage. What is it, make/model/year? I am an RV nut.

Yep, the pit is nearly 40ft long. Very handy indeed.
The van will be powered by a 3 litre dohc Volvo Alloy inline 6. 205hp. & 4 stage auto.
Diff is lsd Falcon with disc brakes. Front end is Nissan van with transverse leaf spring.

Do you work more than 10 hours a day, 6 days a week? If not you've got lotsa time to be in the shop!:

I work a 12.5 shift so 15 hrs of my day is for work, between prep and travel. so those days are shot. And my days off I have my 3 yr old which kills getting much of anything done. I do get some time, just not as much as I would like to. Hoping to get some this weekend. In between events with the family of course.

It's a 2003 30' Georgetown by Forest River on a Ford chassis with the V10. I bought this to tow an #8,000 car trailer at the time, so I wanted the longest wheel base I could get. This has 208". Nothing special but it's worked well for me.

Looks nice. Our first motorhome was an older 30' Travelcraft, followed by a 38' Beaver DP and now a 40' Monaco Dynasty. The wife and I love the RV lifestyle and traveling this great country. We try to travel the backroads more so than the interstates, I like going through all of the small towns and getting a feel for many of the small communities. We also have a 26' Haulmark Edge race trailer that we tow behind the coach and haul our toys in. We have RV'd our entire married life starting with a 1970 Fireball trailer and working up from there.

Enjoy.

Started building the cabinets for the workshop.

I used a Kreg Jig to assemble the pieces.

This will be a 3 bay cabinet. Each section is a separate box, making it easy to hang on the wall by myself. A ledger board has been attached to the wall. This will be used to rest the bottom of each box as it's tipped into position.

The garage door rail was too long, and would impede opening the doors on the cabinets. I marked the max travel of the wheel, then cut the rail just behind that point. Also moved the rail hanger.

I added a stop bolt to prevent the wheel from falling off the back of the track if the opener gets out of adjustment.

Tomorrow I will drill the pocket holes for the face frame, and holes for the adjustable shelves. The boxes will then be hung on the walls, then the face frame will be fabricated and installed. Busy day tomorrow, but the weather is nice here in FL this time of year.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

2many.....why didn't you put your pocket holes on the inside instead of the outside? Not being a smartass, just wondering as I just bought my Kreg a couple of months ago and have only used it once and that was to fasten a board to the wall.

I would think that you could put them on the inside where they wouldn't bee seen. :dunno:

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Worked on my buddys 2001 TJ, pulled the exaust off to get to a leaking freeze plug that turned out to be a crack in the block just above it that we couldn't see with the exaust on. One of the nuts with the retainer tab bent the tab and started spinning (there is always one). It has the edges of the nut pressed down onto the retainer so I thought It would be a good test for my new Flank Drive SnapOn wrenches. I highly reccomend them, it grabed it and held it. I will be buying the SAE set soon!

Clutch had been in my shed for 7 yeas since I took it out of my old Z06. There was nothing wrong with it and it was perfect for the stock LS1 I'm putting in my Dad's Panoz. Paired it with a 14 lb chromoly flywheel I got from a buddy for free.

Visited the Man Store today, picked up a few items. Two of note:

NewStuff3.jpg

Works for my HF flux welder. Plus it holds my HF sand blaster perfectly.

NewStuff5.jpg

Now to figure out where to put it.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I worked yesterday putting away some more stuff. Jeez, I really lose enthusiasm anymore it seems. I should have most of the **** put away today. Wifey help me the other day on the Gladiator cabinets. I was 1/2" short of fitting one in to give me a complete wall of cabinets. We ended up bolting 5 cabinets together just to gain enough space due to all the screw heads. I still need to go to Lowes and pick up a piece of formica for my desk top, and finish painting some trim.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

First post here. Sold my used stack of entry level Craftsman cabinets and drawers on Craigslist last night and found this forum while doing research for my new replacement. Thinking about going the Harbor Freight route for the 44" base for now and depending on how easy it is, breaking it down and painting with a lime green engine enamel for a long lasting finish. Some renderings below:

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I moved my generator inlet plug/box from one side of the garage to the other. The new position avoids having to run the generator cable across the front of the 2 garage doors and having to board them up so LOML can pull into the garage. Yes - she pulls into the garage - even when we are on generator power.

I used 40 feet of conduit to get 25 usable feet - even with cheating and using **** joints when I bent a compound bend the wrong way.

All done and ready for another power outage. I hope I just wasted my afternoon and never need to run Gennie again!

Cheers

Jim

Built this 42"x18" bench on wheels to go in that corner over there...
The drill press, bench grinder and vise are going on top and after i might build some drawers underneath.
I would also like to put my parts washer in a drawer right underneath.
Tomorrow i will add the top and paint it.
Have a good night

Replaced the front ABS sensors on my truck to fix the ABS warning light. Had to remove the backing plates behind the rotors.

No luck. Light still on. Bleah.

Also bolted on an add-on flip up shelf for the Husky tool box.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Pulled the Kubota 3030 with cab and front mounted snowblower into garage (front half, had to leave door open) and after 18" of snow I hit a few rocks. I broke two shear pins (I always hate the first plow). 5/8ths helped me find the shear pin locations with her eyes, q-tips and a flashlight and I drove them out (did the manly part) and replaced with new pins and continued snow blowing. It snowed all night, so I'll probably have to do it all over again. Can't ***** too much though because of the comfort of the cab...great little machine. :)

Yesterday, I continued working toward pulling an engine out of a parts car. Today I hope to do the same.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I got ALMOST everything put away. Momma came out and gave me a hand. I have two cabinets to put up today, three pieces of trim, and need to either make or buy a couple corner shelves to set some speakers on. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can get things finished up today.
