I thought I would be the first to start it out - the other thread was started in 2012 and went through the whole year, several hundred posts! Lotsa neat stuff saved. I guess we should start a whole new thread about the great deal we find at the GS's this coming year! As well as flea markets, pawn shops, estate sales, whatever, they all seem to get mashed into this thread.

So, find em and post em!

The other thread turned out to be a monster thread. I don't know how pressed GJ is for bandwidth but just a small suggestion to help the thread load faster.

When commenting and quoting on someone's great finds, delete the pics so they are not repeated over and over again down thread.

I don't have any pictures of the whole lot but i went to a sale i found on CL that listed "tools, WWII items/surplus and other items" I was the 2nd guy there and was able to find 1 Craftsman ratchet.........and a whole truck bed full of reloading stuff, ammo, hard to find gun parts (early production M1 Garand still in grease) and shooting accessories.:shocking:

It wasn't a cheap haul but considering todays prices on ammo, i made out like a bandit! Just to give you an idea of the prices, 12 Gauge shells were 2.00 per box and ammo cans full of .223 or .308 were 30.00

Most of the reloading stuff will be sold off since i'm fairly set in that department and the parts are gonna take time to sort through. It seems the old guy was a gunsmith for 30 years and didn't get rid of anything

This is ALWAYS a good idea!

Yep, at a minimum take the pics down to what you are talking/asking about.

On the thread loading, it will help a bit, but in reality, you are only downloading the last age, so band width should be minimal. If you have a bandwidth problem, change the post count per page to ten or something.

But it does help with readability and scrolling...

I'm sure that .223 will DISAPPEAR nowadays...:bowdown:Ammo

Not a garage sale but was helping a buddy clean out a cottage the owner piled a bunch of stuff for the dump. Circa 1900 bayonette, crappy tire jig saw (in working order), boxes of nails, copper piping, etc. Oh and anybody looking for a bayonette its for sale shoot me a pm. Maker is chapman stamped 1907. Bayonette on its way to bigcaddy.

ok, still feels all weird in here but here goes...

Couple pawn shop stops yielded some Proto, Williams and Craftsman goods, along with a Titan Gearench for hand wheel leverage apparently.

I thought I would be the first with pictures, oh well. First haul this year (and in about two months):

IMG_3022.JPG

4'x3' bolt organizer, KD tools gasket scraper, 2 craftsman Philips screwdrivers, couple of pullers, Craftsman USA hex bit sockets, big set of craftsman pliers, mac mini file set, mac tamperproof torx set, SK 1/2" ratchet and extension. Paid
$120 for everything, felt I did okay.

Edit: After looking closer at the MAC set, it's a 5 point tamperproof set, which I think then is referred to as tamperproof torx plus? Didn't know there were so many permutations.

I stopped by the pawn shop tonight and found a 1/4 drive craftsman raised panel ratchet date code -vp- asked the guy how much and he said a $1 so of course I said yes.

I would post a picture but everyone knows what a craftsman raised panel ratchet looks like. Cheers :)

Went to look at a drill press from a CL post andd unfortunately it was too small, just a 6" import. Passed on it but he was selling off all his tools to finance a move to Florida so I picked up a few other items.
Delta 1"x30" belt sander
Chicago forge belt and disc sander
Dremel articulating magnified light
Retractable work light
Table/ stand for the sanders
Total cost: $52
Still working on the pics from phone transition...

After loading it up, I asked if ue had any hand tools. Said he needed to get rid of the big stuff before he couod start sorting through the small stuff. He did have a Kennedy machinist top and mid box that will be for sale. Mint condition. Once I see it posted I will pass along the ad as it isn't something I can swing right now.

The titan gearench is common in power plants. Every operator should have one in their back pocket. It is usefull in getting extra leverage on small valves, and also calibrating precision switches that ain't acting right.

Good info Sumner, the pawn shop guy had no clue and when I see something I don't know what it is, and it's cheap, I buy it!

Stopped in a roadside flea market in Franklington today, one pail of rust to dig though. I found a Blackhawk 12mm ratcheting wrench, couple metric craftsman combo wrenches, one cman 1/2 drive socket and this big *** ball pein head. It's 2 lbs 12 oz as it sits, nice chunk of iron, can't wait to wheel it down and inspect it!
