Ya we sure got dumped on didn't we? Washed all my grass seed into my flower bed!

I wouldn't worry about the interior getting a bit wet. The edges of the sheathing are painted and will take a bit of moisture before to much penetration. Mine got wet a few times and is no worse for wear. Looks like we have several days of nice weather so I'd get that roof up.

any updates? where did you find your plans. we are looking to build a shed as well for the same or less money than the lowes/home depot/rent to own places. have you found this way to be cheaper? i know material choice will determine alot, but is this costing you about what you figured?

I built my shed from scratch and had I wanted to I could have done it for slightly cheaper than the pre-cut, assemble at home kits. That being said, I didn't build mine cheaper but it's way nicer. Like you said, material choice plays a huge role. I put tongue and groove siding to match the house on mine, a standard house door, windows and gutters and mine wasn't a whole lot more than a similar sized kit. As for design I got carried away learning Google Sketch-Up so I just did it myself.

i too want to build mine from scratch as well. my wife, after seeing some of my other projects wondered outloud if i could do it or should do it for that matter. if nothing else, i will have lots of material for shelves in my garage when i measure once and cut it twice and find it's still too short.

will check into google sketch up.

I designed my 10x16 shed on Google Sketchup. Laid out all the wall framing, foundation, etc on separate sheets to make is (relatively) painless in doing the cutting. Was really helpful in determining the roof pitch, details, how to put stuff together before being out there with a saw.
As it was my first real project, it was a big help. It's easy to learn too. TIP: download from the components library a lumber file - it gives you predrawn lumber sized corrently for wood including plywood, etc. Real time saver...

Sorry for the long delay. Had some stuff going on. Here are some pics of how the shed turned out. All in all, I am happy with the final results. Would have done a few things differently, but for a first building project, it came out ok.

It did work, as I planned it to, out to be a great learning experience for me on framing, siding, and roofing. Highly suggest anyone wanting to learn these skills try it out on a shed first

Inside got full in a hurry, no shocker there. I put a shelf in along the top of the two walls and then put a floor in on the rafters so I have A LOT of storage up top as planned due to the steep pitch of the roof.

Oh, and I ended up moving the fence about 10-15 feet back where it was closest to the shed. You might notice if you compare some of the earlier pics with the latest.

My neighbor ended up putting in a fence that matched ares, except he extended it up towards the front of the houses more. Just made sense to put mine back in line with his and made a HUGE difference. Shed feels more natural now and not shoe horned in as much as it did. Also, the gate is away from the shed more so it just flows better on that corner.

Thanks, stone steps are going in now that the landscaping is finished. Took a bit of a break from it and now my foot is broke. So I will wait some more :sad:

Super work, and once again I am late to the party. Had a ton of things on my plate but can now start mine... In Alaska in October. Seems to be a Common theme with me, lol. Nice job and insight t the build. A++
