anyone have any ideas how the PA line of propoint ratchets compare to the Gearwrench 120xp? Considering some flex head and roto ratchets but not sure which brand to purchase.

The propoint line never seems to go on sale but I noticed they are the EXACT same as what Husky and Kobalt are selling now.

The 120xp will blow any propoint out of the water. You cannot compare the two.

I didn't know that HF had a comparable one. Seems a lot cheaper also...

I am just curious if going to the 120xp is worth the extra cost

50 bucks for a ratchet? Better be taiwanese. If it ain't...well it ain't. I don't care if they sell a million tooth ratchet, if it comes from china it better be priced accordingly.

It does have more teeth than the retail taiwan equivalent but I'm not sure that teeth count justifies you paying double or triple for a ratchet you can't warranty in store.:dunno: Even if it is taiwanese...kind of pricey but slightly more trustworthy than chinese because china hasn't been making this kind of stuff that long (long enough to justify a price point that is premium grade regardless of brand).

Thats how I felt. My go to ratchets are my SnapOn Dual 80's but since they are not fully made in the USA anymore, why should I spend good money on them anymore? Seems to me that the HF, PA tools are the exact same as the Kobalt and Husky brands when I look at them. I would have preferred a Made in North America ratchet but them seem pretty few and far between. I guess my question was if the 120xp was really worth it as it is more made in Taiwan sweat shop stuff.

The GW 120XP ratchets are worth every penny I paid for them, smoothest ratchets I have in my box and I own Snap On, CMan, Matco, Williams, Proto and a few others.

I like the gw 120 rarchets. I got the 3 pack a few months ago. I have pretty much all snap on ratchets, but I liked the thought of these, so I tried them. I have not REALLY got on them as they are all short, but they have held up very well and feel nice. They are a little tight from the start, but loosen up fast. I have a few snap on dual 80s and the longer ones only last about a year before they loose some teeth. I bet the gearwrenches are going to be about the same. I dont care where they are made, they are nice. Same goes for the snap on 80.

I got the flex 120xp. Its pretty good. Go to trident. Buy the sale item individually. Use the gj coupon for 10% off and free shipping . I got mine like 96.00 shipped for all 4.

seems like a good deal, will check this out. I'd like to have the "cheap foam" for them for now..

Pretty good means they will last or not so good ? I mean my old Snap on 3/8 flex seems to keep up with the abuse, don't know about them, but at the same time they are pretty cheap...

Can't say enough good things about the 120xp 1/4 drive. So many situations i've run across where i'm getting 3-4 clicks vs none.

here's a comparison of the brand new Snap-On release button version of the TLL12 the TRLL72

The 120XP feels very smooth, but when it comes to one handed operation my Dual80s are light years ahead. If there's not enough resistance the socket will reverse with the ratchet, very frustrating in tight clearances.

Most of the ProPoint tools are actually quite well made, you just have to be careful with the PowerFist stuff.

I don't have any issues with the 120XP when it comes to one handed operation and I do have Dual80s too. I mean, the first few times I've used the 120XP, maybe one handed operation wasn't that good and without enough resistance the socket was reversing with the ratchet, but after only a few uses, it's actually pretty good. I've got the set of 4 120XP ratchets and really like them !

I'd only buy ProPoint. There are lots of threads and posts about the problems getting warranty on Gearwrench stuff. Princess Auto has good return/exchange policies.

I don't think any of the Gearwrench ratchets are quick release. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) If that feature is important to you (it is to me) then Gearwrench is not for you.
