Wright, SO, CM Industrial, Bonney, SK - Yet another Combo Wrench Comparison

I just picked up a set of Wright Grip Combo wrenches. I thought I'd post some images as compared to CM Industrial (Armstrong), SO FD+, Old Bonney, and SK. The comparison is not 100% apples to apples because the sizes used were 11/16 and 18mm. (Bonney was included just for the heck of it)

Length comparison. (what looks like a flaw is actually camera reflection). SK std. pattern is too damn short.

Here are some beam and closed end images. SK is more gradually tapered approaching the closed end. The Wright tapers more quickly at the closed end.

Beam dimensions:

Thickness/Width
CM Ind. .230"/.645"
SO .194"/.618"
Bonney .205"/.580"
Wright .256"/.675"
SK .233"/.575"

Note the CM Industrial's beam isn't totally straight.

Two of these wrenches have the enhanced open end. The first image is SO FD+. The serrations are wider apart and notice the extra notch close to the opening.

It remains to be seen which enhanced open end design is the most effective.

Wright Grip (fine serrations only):

Wright's seem to have the best overall finish. This closed end looks flawless (not that the bolt cares):

CM Ind:

Holding each wrench can be very subjective but the Wright's feel absolutely perfect. The end of the bean is perfectly rounded. (as is the Bonney). The others are fine but there's a slight edge particularly with the SK's.

Conclusion:
I really like these Wright wrenches based on the finish and overall feel.

I would warranty the CM Industrial wrench. I had a 11mm CM Industrial that was a little bent and had no issues getting a replacement. With the CM Industrial wrenches currently on clearance from Sears, they have to be the best bang for your buck!! Good comparison overall, thanks!!

I got all the Craftsman Raised Panel Combination wrenches (both 6 and 12 point), because I am too poor to afford any of these... :sad:

And like you said---:The bolt doesn't know..." :beer:

ok i dont wanna high jack this, but has anyone tried or gave the WERA joker wrenches a try? they look pretty badass.

How did you warranty them since they don't carry them in stores?

I called Apex I believe. When I purchased one of the Craftsman Industrial sets, there was a piece of paper with warranty info and a phone number listed. I simply called the number and had a new wrench within days. If you need the phone number, PM me and Ill look for it.

My wright suregrips are easily my favorites. I have the satin beam / polished head version.better beam than snappy fd+.anyone that uses them at work is impressed.they are not just another wrench. Less bend at the box than the others.like 10 degrees instead of the 15 all the rest have.I have snappys,supercombos,protos,mac 440's,and a slew of gearwrench sets,the really long pittsburghs,some s-k,and USAG's.these are for me hands down the best.

Yes but I ordered #952. (I already have a large SO metric set from 22MM - 27MM.) I wanted longer handles then my SK's and your Wright Grip video was impressive.

I wish I could have compared all these to Williams Supercombos because they were "Plan B".

So far I really like these Wrights. (I find them better then SO at 1/3 the price).

It's hard to describe but they just feel perfect in my fat hands.

I like Proto better than all the above, but good information about wrenches. I love SK, but not really a fan of their wrenches. Have wanted some Wrights for a while now.

Yeah my 9/16 supercombo and below open ends are weak.its a known and common problem.

I did the same thing when I got a set and the 17mm had a slight bend in it. I called the number on the paper that came with it (I thought it was a sears number though) and they sent me a new wrench no ?'s asked. And they didn't even care about me returning the bent one. I think it was about a week to 10 days before the replacement came in the mail.
