Heres some pics of my shop... I worked out of a converted 20 by 25 garage for over 29 years...
2 1/2 years ago I had the opportunity to purchase a house and shop from a logging trucker. The price was right, and I now rent out the house and it covers all but about 150 dollars a month...
The shop was just a metal shell when I moved in, but it had boatloads of potential. I work in the amusement business fabricating rides, but I'm getting close to retiring from that, and I wanted the shop to house all my projects and collections. I get visitors from all over the country and beyond, so I wanted the place to have a certain odd air about it. Its called "Strange Days" our motto is "Satisfaction Considered"
The first thing I did was re-name the streets on the corner where the shop sits. Its now on the corner of TIME and SPACE
time.jpg

My buddy John Detrich designed the sign that sits above the main door. I carved and painted it out of signfoam.

The outside fence also sports one of my carvings.

The shop itself is 45 by 45 with a 16 foot ceiling height.
I love it here, but I've been workin' my **** off to try and get it the way I want.
Heres some pics:
Citybrite.jpg

This is the West side of the shop. Its set up as a series of shopfronts. On the lower left is the pedalshop. It houses some of my restored pedalcars, Tonka toys and a restored Whizzer motorbike.
The second story are all fake fronts that hide the loft storage area (lotsa scary **** up there). Above the pedalshop is the Dentist Office. Its a tribute to my dad who was a dentist . He died of a heart attack at age 38. I was 10 yrs old then.
Still miss him.
In the lower middle is the lunchroom. It is disguised as the "Flamingo Diner" Its really a great spot to have lunch, meet clients, or just take five.

Part 2 Tour of Strange Days

. Heres an early picture of just the diner
Diner.jpg
.
Above the diner is the whorehouse "Rositas Rooms". As a kid growing up in Butte, Montana these things were just an intergral part of the landscape.
Next is the Fire Station.I knew a lot of firemen as a kid, and putting it next to the whorehouse just seemed appropriate.
I have a hot rod bumpercar named "Thunderpig" which sits inside the Fire Station. For more on the pig, click here.

On the far right is Backalley Floral... Its really the john.

This is a view looking down at the south wall from the loft.
top%20view%20from%20loft.JPG

The workbench is 1/2 in steel plate 20 ft long. Its well lit and a great workspace. The cabinets I made from particleboard which we get around here for free, cause the mill is just down the road, I skinned them with aluminum diamondplate.
workbench.JPG
Its hard to get a good picture of it because of all the reflections.
All in all theres just under a half acre of sheetrock on the walls. Me and my buddy Dana hung and taped it all by ourselves. The thing on the left is a carved wooden circus wagon.
backwall.JPG

Theres a ton of odd work that happens here, and the place gets a LOT of visitors. Another year and I hope to have it completed. Thanks for taking the tour...... Chaz

That's an amazing shop you have there. Great idea with the theme really cool idea!

Those are two things I wish to have more of "Time and Space". Hats off to your garage ( should I call it that?), thanks for sharing.

That's amazing. Very well done. There's another guy around there whose shop is named something like the "Hot Rod Grill". I wish I could remember his user name... You two have a lot in common.

You're talking about "Miles City East" (Pine Hills School for Boys)! I teach school at the junior high here in town and unfortunately I know a number of students now at "East".
Things have really changed there over the years. Its not kids who need alittle help and direction anymore, but ********* criminals, scary stuff!

This site needs a "Garage of the Month" section...and I'm voting yours for the first entrant!

Like another member said, I sure envy folks with great imagination. That's just too cool!

There is a car dealer in West Palm Beach called RagTops that sells old classic cars and has a similar setup with a drive inn scheme and others, yours is one of the nicest I have ever seen.

Chaz,
Do you have any more photos of the frame of the "thunderpig".
Don't want to copy them but I have a couple of bumper cars and was looking for ideas on how to power them, or do you know of any links to them.
