Gearwrench Stubby Flex Wrench Rack/Holder?

What is everyone using to hold their GW Stubby Flexhead wrenches? The Ernst/Protoco ones don't fit as the shaft between the two ends is too narrow.

I was considering a magnetic holder but have found none that look like they work well without taking up as much space as if I were to just lay the wrenches in my box. I believe I have the full 10 piece metric and 7 piece SAE set.

Suggestions?

I use the kobalt wrench organizers from lowes. works great I believe this is where I heard about them. I use them for all of my wrenches.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I was wondering why Ernst doesn't make a set just like that set which are straight and not the tapered offset. That is exactly what I am looking for, but in like 10 slot. I will get a set and modify them if needed.

How many do you have in the set? I did this with my CMAN Pro stubbies since the raised panel twisted the stubby rack and it wouldn't sit right in the drawer.
I know these arent flex head but there should be enough space.

Go to Snap-On line. They have nice soft grip ones for stubby's. My 20 Craftsman (10 SAE and 10 Metric) fit nice. Got 1 red and one black one to differentiate. Leaky

I have a complete SAE set and NOTHING fits those POS's except for the blow molded case they come in. All other types of wrench holders don't work because the ratchet end is so heavy they tip. Even the Ernst stubby wrench holders don't work either. It totally *****. And the molded case is massive considering the size of the wrenches. Good luck, I hope you find something that works so I can go that route as well. :)

Not a great picture, but the Ernst ones work perfect if you grab a razor blade and cut off the back part of plastic that acts like a spring. It will give enough room to fit flex head in there nice and snug

I've got mine in my tool bag, so I have all my double ended wrench sets on carabiners through the box ends. Makes it easier to find what you're looking for in a tool bag mess.

Time to order another couple of these. And yes, trimming the one tension piece made it fit perfect.

Not at all, those house all my wrenches in a straight and parallel orientation.

Excellent. Fantastic information.

Thanks GJ for coming through. This should be good information for everyone. I'll get more pics and upload them here (so hopefully they are available years from now when people search) once I trim the racks.

I'm going to resurrect this old thread because I stumbled onto it while trying to find a wrench rack that would work with Gearwrench flex stubby sets and LXCam's post caught my attention ...

OK I just got done trying this. Turned out to get them to work for my sets I had to trim more than just the tension piece.

This is what I tried first, cutting out the tension piece and the little rectangular section below it.

The wrenches would sort of fit like that but it was really tight and they wouldn't stay put. Putting the first wrench in seemed fine but by the time the rack was full it was a problem. It was impossible to pull one wrench out one-handed without other wrenches wanting to squeeze up and out on the flex-side.

So I kept cutting almost all of the left side off except for a little diagonal nub ...

That works pretty good. The wrenches sit down in there pretty level and more importantly I can pick up and set back any one with one hand without disturbing the others. They now take up a lot less space in a drawer and are way easier to grab and put back than they did when sitting flat in the trays they came in which I hated.

Thanks bunches to Mohawk Dave and LXCam.

EDIT: I later made some more modifications/improvements:

Yeah I believe they've been mentioned in this thread before. I personally didn't consider them because I can't stand the thought of my wrenches becoming magnetized. Not a fan of magnetic tool holders, and $20 or more for each set is ~3x what the Ernst gripper racks cost. Also I didn't see that they came in sizes to match the different sets I had like the Ernst did.

I keep mine edgewise on a bar magnet 10 of them stacked together only take up 5 inches of space.

if you cut out the angled nub a bit lower for each one you can get them sit totally level .
I done my metric set like it as my usual sharks teeth rails didn't work very good .

After looking at them and thinking about it a bit that's exactly what I wound up doing. I cut down the flex-end side about an 1/8th" or so lower. Also got rid of the tension piece on the open end side so the wrenches just sit in there. The look better now and the are easier to grab. Put them in a drawer and opened and closed and they all stay in place, so I'm happy with them. That's exactly what I was wanting.

that's ideal, my set was facom and they little less bulky and adaption was pretty easy .
Wish manufacturers would sell them in worthwhile holders to start with .
