Extra long double box-end wrenches from V8 Tools - hmmm. Not very happy with the finish (made in China) but I hope they are decent when actually used..

Where did you get the wrenches at? I need those 2 and a couple others. My local store has them but the larger ones are about $20 each

I got them at sears for about that, I'm ok with spending that on them because I have ocd and wanted them to match the rest of my wrenches ;)

lol. Me too. I am missing 5 total between metric and sae. The local sears has all of them and they are v^ same as the others I have but I am trying to find them used. If I have to I will eventually cave in but I hate to pay $80-$90 for 5 Craftsman RPs.

Keep watching the classifieds, I have some very nice Craftsman open end metric, combo SAE & metric and combo 6 point metric wrenches I'm going to be selling in the future. I'm slowly replacing w/ Wright, just need to recover from Christmas and other tool expenditures of late:(

That is what it looked like when I took it out of the box a few hours ago, but now it is covered in steel and aluminum dust.

I had a coupon for 20% off at the local steel shop and tools are not excluded from the coupon. That saved me $300 on the saw.

I had to tighten up the pivot a bit, but it cuts great. I have a project coming up where I will have 80 cuts in 1 3/4" x 3/16" thick angle iron at a 45 degree angle, 20 cuts in 3"x3" by 3/16" square steel tube, and 50+ cuts at 90 degrees on 1" sq by 1/8" steel tube and 2"x2" x 3/16" steel tube.

The 12" dewalt miter saw, with abrasive blade, will now get a break. I was tempted to go with the 160mm version, but it weighs 84 pounds vs. 40 pounds for the 120mm version I got. The 120mm will just do 3x3" square at 45 degrees. It will do 60 degrees on smaller material. It's max cut is 4.75" at 90 degrees. The steel shop didn't have the bigger saw on hand, it costs $700 more, and the extra weight would be a pain when I haven't really needed to deal with material bigger than 3". The miter saw may do bigger material, or I can just plasma cut it.

If I had the shop space, I could have used a bigger horizontal band saw for less money, but I only have a single car garage, and I wanted something I could easily move or take with me for remote work.

Normally, to cut steel, I have to drag the miter saw out and make sure it has the right blade, then get gloves, a face shield, and ear muffs. I tried this out on my bench in the middle of the garage, wore my casual clothes, didn't need gloves or a face shield, and just had my prescription glasses and ear muffs. It isn't nearly as loud as a grinder or miter saw/chop saw, but it isn't quiet either. The mess consists of a little pile of dust.

A month or so ago, I saw the saw in the showroom but figured it was way too expensive. Well, after considering the job coming up and all of the steel I have cut in the past, I think this saw will makes it's self worth while. It will make for far less work with not having to mash a chop saw through the work and there is hardly a burr to clean up after cutting. I am so over cutting angles with an abrasive blade.

Went into lowes with full intentions to get the dewalt but just couldn't justify the 300.00 difference. I went back and forth in the isle between the dewalt and this. Obviously there was a difference but not a 300.00 difference. Time will tell I guess.

Yeah I'm calling in the morning to see if the local store has it. I don't even need it right now and am going to buy one.

The thing i would check for is the side to side play. I know the dewalts have very little slop, even at full extension.

Here's my new arrivals from the past week or two. Used an amazon gift card to get the channellocks and the gimbal ratchet. I also placed a low bid on an ebay auction for the Armstrong saltus wrench, just for the heck of it, and won.

I bought this Mill yesterday, it's a Comet with a Bridgeport head. It has a 10x50 table. It's built a bit heavier than most Bridgeports I believe, and it has a big knee on it. I still have to get a phase converter or try and make one, I needed one for the Hardinge too.

Got a Dewalt DWS782 12" compound miter saw for ~$200 today. Was originally $599 (I think they had it for $399 during an earlier sale or something), but I'm calling that a steal regardless

I overestimated what I could fit in my car though.. haha. I strapped the hatch shut and drove home with it!

Also picked up an M18 LED Lantern. Like it, but still want an LED stick light for tight spaces.

Like it but not in love with it.. I have the LED floodlight already and this isn't quite what I was after. I wanted something smaller to use for automotive work, so I went looking for the LED stick light. Local HD's didn't have the stick lights, so I bought a lantern to try instead. It is better than the floodlight for auto work but I think the M12 stick light with magnet is probably going to be what I really want

Will probably order a stick light from the interwebs and may return lantern after that, depending on how the stick light does

Got these from one of the boys here this week. This gives me two 1/2" and the 3/8 but I just couldn't pass up the deal. My old 1/2 will go to my son.

Nice. I sold my 1/2" tech angle around Christmas.. wish I hadn't. I don't need a good torque wrench all that often, but it sure was nice having one when I did. Hopefully I'll pick up another soon
