That is what it looked like when I took it out of the box a few hours ago, but now it is covered in steel and aluminum dust.
I had a coupon for 20% off at the local steel shop and tools are not excluded from the coupon. That saved me $300 on the saw.
I had to tighten up the pivot a bit, but it cuts great. I have a project coming up where I will have 80 cuts in 1 3/4" x 3/16" thick angle iron at a 45 degree angle, 20 cuts in 3"x3" by 3/16" square steel tube, and 50+ cuts at 90 degrees on 1" sq by 1/8" steel tube and 2"x2" x 3/16" steel tube.
The 12" dewalt miter saw, with abrasive blade, will now get a break. I was tempted to go with the 160mm version, but it weighs 84 pounds vs. 40 pounds for the 120mm version I got. The 120mm will just do 3x3" square at 45 degrees. It will do 60 degrees on smaller material. It's max cut is 4.75" at 90 degrees. The steel shop didn't have the bigger saw on hand, it costs $700 more, and the extra weight would be a pain when I haven't really needed to deal with material bigger than 3". The miter saw may do bigger material, or I can just plasma cut it.
If I had the shop space, I could have used a bigger horizontal band saw for less money, but I only have a single car garage, and I wanted something I could easily move or take with me for remote work.
Normally, to cut steel, I have to drag the miter saw out and make sure it has the right blade, then get gloves, a face shield, and ear muffs. I tried this out on my bench in the middle of the garage, wore my casual clothes, didn't need gloves or a face shield, and just had my prescription glasses and ear muffs. It isn't nearly as loud as a grinder or miter saw/chop saw, but it isn't quiet either. The mess consists of a little pile of dust.
A month or so ago, I saw the saw in the showroom but figured it was way too expensive. Well, after considering the job coming up and all of the steel I have cut in the past, I think this saw will makes it's self worth while. It will make for far less work with not having to mash a chop saw through the work and there is hardly a burr to clean up after cutting. I am so over cutting angles with an abrasive blade.
