All my photos are not showing up

All the photos (50+) in my build thread just stopped showing up. I have them all hosted at Imgur. All worked just fine until the other day when they just stopped showing up on the GJ site. Everything is normal on Imgur. I'm at a loss for what happened. Anyone know what could be wrong or how to fix?

For whatever reason, GJ is blocking imgur images from showing up or maybe imgur is blocking images on GJ. All of mine are broken too on here, but I just posted an imgur image with the same url over on my blog, and on the eevblog forum and they work fine.

Ah, so I'm not alone. Perhaps a Mod can offer some insight.

I've got a very bad feeling that imgur blocked GJ for having too many images linked from it. In which case we're kind of boned. Like a billion photo links on GJ are probably dead right now.

I sent Imgur an email. They responded saying they haven't changed any protocols and asked me which site I was posting to. I sent them a link to my thread, but haven't heard back from them again.

Is imgur free? Or do you pay for an account to host your images? If it's free...perhaps you've overused your free bandwith to show pics.... Photobucket does this ...someone has to help pay for the server to store your pics

Yep found the same thing yesterday, imigur does block sites if they see copyrighted images being linked. I think sixfeet4 has the right idea emailing them

I'm not sure what the problem is but I did post something in the Moderator section about this issue.

I don't think it's a GJ issue per say but maybe Imgur blocking links to GJ. If I was Ryan, I wouldn't blacklist a photo hosting site from the pictures not showing up. All that is going to do is hurt the site itself, including any revenue coming in due to site traffic.

However, for a site like Imgur that is providing a "free" picture hosting site and alot of your bandwidth (which you pay for) is being bled to another site without making any coin on it, it makes financial sense to block the drain on your system.

I personally use Photobucket and I did have issues when they went Beta, prematurely, but that has been resolved. After I exceeded my bandwidth limit, I upgraded to a pro-account. I believe it costs me $40/2 years. IIRC, I have 2k plus pictures on the site and other than the above mentioned blip, it's been trouble free.

One of the members sixfeet4 has sent an email to them. Some how, I doubt they lift the ban.

Update. I guess Imgur is dead to Garage Journal for hosting because GJ has a classified section. Not sure I understand why that matters, but here is the email thread with Imgur CS.

Guess I will have to host the photos somewhere else and rebuild my page. I didn't use Photobucket originally because I have noticed that you can click on a photo hosted there and it will take you to the person's entire album and profile, which I think some people don't realize. Anyone know a way to prevent that?

Within our TOS, we do not allow the usage of imgur as a content delivery network on any site that has a section dedicated to selling. This is considered advertising. (much like eBay is blocked as well).

Thanks for writing. Unfortunately that site has been blocked from hotlinking due to multiple instances of abuse of Imgur's terms of service. The terms of service can be found at http://imgur.com/tos. We don't allow hotlinked images being used as content for other websites. Because there is a classified section, we are unable to remove the blockage.

We suggest using another site that does allow being used as a content delivery network. I apologize for the confusion. Please let me know if I can help further.

I have a build thread at Garage Journal Forum and all my photo links stopped working? Someone suggested you may have banned the site for ****, but this is not a **** site, it's a site about garages?? I do not understand why it or my photos would be banned ? Please help!

Thank you for updating us on the situation.

Any chance we could get a block on using imgur for the classifieds section and get them to reevaluate? It seems like a huge disaster to lose so many useful threads on here over the years.

So I'm confused. I have used Imgur as a site to share my images and they showed up in my Garage Journal until just recently. Did they change the policy or was I just "caught"?

OK, I went through my journal and clicked on each image t open it in a new window so I could save them all --- and not all the images display properly.

I read where Imgur was blocking images from being shared on GJ, so I'm not sure what's going on.

I can re-host the images elsewhere or upload them to GJ, but how do I go back and properly edit the posts to show GJ-uploaded images?

You will need to edit and link to the new photo.

Or you can edit your post, choose the "Go Advanced" and upload them to GJ as an attachment.
