My ultimate favorite is "What did you do IN your garage today?" The contributors are the best the site has to offer. Just seeing the varied projects, craftsmanship and abundant talent in every facet of being is a constant source of entertainment and inspiration to me. You guys are great and it's a privilege to be a small part of it.

I don't know the links, but I'm a fan of smaller garages. They seem to have more ingenuity. Single cars, C-trains, etc.

Post recession remodel is one of my favorites, as well as Mid century moto mecca, and 44 bikes. Then there's that one where the guy and his girlfriend made their own shop and he makes furniture and roof racks for bimmers. That one is amazing. Such talent.

I also like the tool equivalents thread and the (show me your) toolbox thread. The vintage toolbox thread is really cool, as well as the Taco cart thread. Oh, and I can't forget the European tool thread. That's one of my favorites. The Plvmb thread as well.

I spent all last week stalking Sakurama and all his builds across the interweb. If you love non hardly bikes and ridiculous attention to detail builds with excellent photography and adventures this Sakurama raises the bar.

Thomas's restored 30's garage and Timewarps Eco boost trucks are also among my favorites.

If I wanted to see an award go to anyone Timewarp is the man. Because he gets stuff done documents it well and seems like a mere mortal and proves you don't need a huge budget to build cool unique stuff. Of course we all wish we could start with project vehicles from #norust AZ:)

I believe this one of the most touching threads in Garage Journal

I'm building a chair on casters for my handicapped daughter to dance in at her wedding

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=348709

I also have a handicapped daughter, so this thread spoke volumes to me in showing a dad's love for his daughter....thank you drivesitfar for sharing with everyone here.

So if you haven't seen it, I encourage you to pull up a chair and be prepared for a good cry. Very touching:bowdown:

True it may be one of the best and most popular topics on the forum but it is not really what this topic is about being a Garage, a building and what is in it. This topic is about some of the great Garage buildings and the character they have and not about one fabricated item.

I agree with many of the great threads noted above - some of which I hadn't seen prior to diving into this sticky thread again.

The hallmarks of a great garage journal thread are 1- A fascinating space that I can get some great ideas from; 2- updates that continue to show how the space is "lived-in" and used; and 3- a bit of an aspiration to give me something to work toward (and possibly drive the other half crazy with budget requests!). I've subscribed to numerous threads over the years, and unfortunately some of the older ones don't have all of the photos that made the threads epic.

A couple of my favorite garage journal threads are the following:

The "M" House - Razed and Rebuilt Detached Carriage House/Barn

This was the first garage I ran across on here that opened my eyes to the world of possibilities beyond just paint & posters on the wall with a few work benches. As of this posting, a number of photos aren't showing up but I don't know if I've ever seen a more thoughtful build from start to finish, and on top of it, the garage doesn't appear to be a massive structure.

Bald is Beautiful

A great garage build, and fantastic documentation of "what are you doing in your garage" with remarkable attention to detail. I can't even imagine a better set-up -- a great lake house, with a great garage space that is frequently used. An aspiration thread if I ever saw one.

Project Garage Condo

I'd argue that this garage condo had a big part in the explosion of the garage condo offerings popping up throughout the country. If I could have a space exactly how I'd want it, it wouldn't be much different that what this garage accomplished. I love every bit of this build, the design, color/material selections, and the vehicles that call it home.
