I need some help here guys. I lost the ball bearing to my 1/4" NAPA ratchet last night while cleaning it. I'm not sure who made these style ratchets for NAPA, but I can't find this style on their site. I've also thought about just buying a minimum quantity of 100 bearings just for one lol. 8b1f523a07bfb333b14088780ec419ec.jpg2e2f6edc7783015c282e193f8d7487af.jpg

Chad that is a Danaher made ratchet ,same as Craftsman RP,Allen,Kobalt, KD,Matco,Masterforce,Armstrong etc.
You might ask your local Sears for a couple from the junk pile .
The size of the bearing is on a post here from a Sears employee for the 2016 year.

I have lost more than a couple the same way.

They're nice ratchets OP. As aforementioned any kit you find on fleebay would have the right one but it's probably cheaper to rob another ratchet or just get the ball bearing.

I usually go to my local True Value, they sell single ball bearings. Just take the ratchet with you, and see which one fits in the hole. Ace would probably have them as well.

This. I have done this many of times, luckily my Ace hardware has a surprisingly good selection of hard to find and specialty hardware.

How many teeth? I may have a craftsman rebuild kit that will work for it. Take some pics of the guts and I will look in my stash.

I believe the Craftsman Rebuild Kit 43424 is the one you want.
I believe it's listed for Craftsman USA-made (Danaher) 44807 & 44812 ratchets.
Some Sears will still have them or they can usually still be had on fleabay for $10-15 or so.

Thanks for the replies fellas. I'll try the local Ace. I don't know why but I never thought of them to have ball bearings. That Craftsman kit does look like the right one. I will check out the rest of the parts really good prior to buying either just a ball or a whole kit. It's always been a little iffy on it's action. It might just be time for a rebuild. When my 1/2"dr gets sloppy, a good cleaning brings it right back. It's hard to tell with this one now that parts are missing.

I just had the same thing happen when cleaning my C-man 44807 and the hole is 0.107" using a pin gage. That indicates a 2.5mm should work or a 3/32" might also work. I have not found those at my Ace or the project drawers at Lowes. Going to Sears was useless. Anybody have an extra (or 2) they would mail out?

Also, forgot to mention, I had the same problem losing not one but two bearings trying to rebuild a ratchet one time when it hit me... Put the head of the ratchet in a magnetic parts bowl while working on it, if(when) a spring or bearing shoots out, it usually sticks to the bowl. My next couple rebuilds went way smoother.

FWIW, The Snapon ratchet repair tool #SPP744 is invaluable to holding those ball-bearings in place while putting a ratchet back together. It's under $1 and Snap-On offers free shipping.

It makes the job much easier and (knock on wood-like veneer) I haven't lost any more of those ball-bearings ever since I started using one. now, C-Clips and Snap-rings, that's a different story. Had more than one of those go flying into the abyss never to be seen again. In any case working next to a strong magnet nearby is a good idea.
