Every time I come back to this thread there are 3-5 more pages of replies. I seriously can't wait to see what some of you get in the mail today. I think there were at least 2 or more who had tracking showing delivery today.

I suppose you could be right, but if so I'm left scratching my head how someone smart enough to put something like that together could be so stupid. I doubt they would ever see a penny from it and they'd have broken so many laws that they'd ....

These scams are frequently quite profitable. Even if 90% of the transactions are caught and cancelled, the remainder are pure profit. Chance of hacker in the former Soviet Union, China, or Nigeria going to jail or paying a fine for this is miniscule.

The scam is not whether they are shipping it. The scam is how they are paying for it. The ebay sellers are ordering it off of Harbor Freight and sending the items to these people because their is a hold on their PayPal accounts. The question is whether its fraudulent credit cards, fraudulent gift cards, or some security flaw in the website. On my transaction, the PayPal email and seller email were very different and is probably one of the reasons these auctions are getting flagged by ebay.

Many of the fraud sellers are selling other items on ebay from Harbor Freight including other jacks, Predator engines, miter saws, electric drain cleaners, etc.

how can it be stolen when it dropships from the factory? why is it only 6.5-8hp predator engines and daytona jacks, 12" miter saws, and now it looks like 301 piece mechanic set can be added to the list..

i don't think it's stolen credit cards, ...

Pretty easy w stolen/compromised credit card. Scammer places order on HF website with stolen card, HF ships product, HF is screwed two weeks later when MC/Visa claws back the transaction.

I wouldn't be surprised if HF reaches out to FedEx to intercept as many of the fraudulent provides as possible. IANAL, but it's not inconceivable that HF would pursue purchasers for receiving stolen property.

Well, it was just delivered a little bit ago. The box and packing seems apropos for a 112lb jack. looks like it survived the trip rather well.

More pics and thoughts to soon follow

First off, I like the box design. Some thought went into it. Once the top slides off the ends can flip down so you can slide off the styrofoam ends and roll the jack out of it.

First thing you encounter is a wire bracket, or 'shipping clip' as the manual calls it, that holds the handle assy down. A little downward pressure allows it to be removed easily enough.

Then, before I did anything with it I followed the bleeding instructions, but what they don't mention is that to get to the Fill Plug on the cylinder you must first remove four 3mm Allen screws from the access panel above it. Then, the directions are standard. with the jack fully lowered, remove the fill plug > turn the handle counter-clockwise like you were lowering the jack > pump the handle up and down 10-15 times > replace the fill plug.

This jack is huge compared to my ~20 yr old 3-ton. It's a lot heavier too but it rolls really easy. The welds and paint finish seem very nice. There are five grease fittings: one on the jack pivot point and two on the handle, and one on each of the front wheels. You can tell from the red grease squeezed out that it comes well greased.

Harbor Freight lists the min & max heights at 3-3/4" and 23". Fully lowered looks more like 4" to me, but the max height seems about right. That's really what I was after. My old 3-Ton could just barely get both front or rear wheels on my truck off the ground and only then if I balanced the weight just right. The extra 4-5" this thing raises is going to make quite a difference.

Edit: Forgot to mention that it took 4 1/2 pumps to get to max height with no load on it. That's a lot better than the ~30 or so pumps my old 3-Ton jack took. I haven't put a load on it yet. When I get around to it if it's not all that I'll surely post back here about it.

Not sure what that would prove, but here it is. i believe I've blurred out all personally identifiable info.

It would be nice if the price paid was. I guess there is no pouch with the receipt.

Since Ebay cancelled the transaction, did you basically get it for free?

i had to go double-check. There is no pouch with receipt/invoice at all on either the outside or inside of the box.

I had already paid for it well before ebay cancelled the transaction. I bought on Friday and the money was already out of my bank come Mon morning. I got an email From FedEx with the tracking Tuesday (Nov 1) morning. The transaction wasn't 'cancelled' by ebay until Tues evening.

Good chance they pull back whatever you paid. Did the ebay seller and paypal seller have very different email addresses?

Either way the fraudsters appear to just be able to move from one compromised ebay account to another. A lot of them are selling other somewhat large ticket items beyond the Daytona jacks and Predator engines to compressors, different jacks, welders, airless paint sprayers, etc.

Can somebody call the HF dist center and find out what the hell is going on?

I'm glad to see these at a good deal, but will not buy one if somebody or a corporation is getting screwed.

Who is gonna pull what? From who? To who? At most HF would be entitled to the PayPal funds paid to the eBay seller. I'd be willing to bet EBay self insures in cases like this, Why EBay doesn't require more personal "verifiable" information when creating accounts is beyond me, obviously there isn't much they can do when someone's account is compromised, but most of the listed sellers where fairly new to the marketplace.

Paypal will pull it back from the sellers account and return it to the buyer. It should be on a hold right now.

Ebay doesn't give buyers the seller's email address. Paypal does list a name and email. The name given includes the ebay account name that I bought from in parenthesis next to it.

I don't know why ebay was cancelling the listings and transactions. I was on the phone with ebay about it and they wouldn't tell me anything except they were "happy to see from my tracking that it looked like I was going to get what I paid for". I, like you are doing, can make assumptions, but that's all they are.

Edit:
Unless and until someone of authority comes knocking / calling wanting this jack back or whatever due to evidence of wrongdoing, I'm done discussing or speculating here on GJ what the deal is/was with these too-good-to-be-true deals on ebay. It was listed, it looked like a really good deal on something I wanted, I paid for it, it was delivered. If I do hear anything regards to the transaction being fraudulent or whatnot I will for sure mention it here.

If anyone has any questions about the jack itself, I'll more than happy to answer as best I can.

I'm not sure about that, especially with delivery confirmation confirming delivery, especially with cases where there isn't a Case opened.

HF is definitely getting screwed. The fraud is pretty widespread. Just search the following items:

180 Amp-DC, 240 Volt, MIG/Flux Cored Welder New 100%
3 Ton Daytona Professional Steel Floor Jack - Super Duty New 100%
3 Ton Aluminum Racing Floor Jack with RapidPump New 100%
Airless paint sprayer new 100%
12 in. Double-Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw With Laser Guide System New 100%
50 Ft. Compact Electric Drain Cleaner New 100%
17 gal. 1.8 HP 150 PSI Oilless Air Compressor New 100%
8 HP (301cc) OHV Horizontal Shaft Gas Engine EPA New 100%

They all have "New 100%" on their listings...

The manual states to "use only 22 viscosity, non-detergent hydraulic jack oil".

Not that I need any now or hopefully in the near future, but a look at several jack oils either didn't say what viscosity they are or else the ones that do seem lighter weight. For example, "Liquid Wrench" jack oil says "SAE viscosity grade is 5W/10W".

Anyone know of a good 22 viscosity jack oil?

I think Snap On sells it for $100 per liter. Do you need Snap On's phone number where you can order a bottle?

We don't know for sure, not until HF responds.

This is definitely a drop ship scenario direct from the DC in Dillon SC.
Whether it's legit or not remains to be verified.

Just go to your local farm and fleet/store and look for ISO 22 Hydraulic oil.

Just like WWheeler I am done talking about it and Harbor Freight has been made aware of the situation. The ball is in their court. I think its pretty clear with the same pattern with sellers from all these random locations have no selling history and all of a sudden selling tons of HF equipment. The transactions are flagged for fraud by ebay based on their analysis. They are selling well below market value and even selling lower then what previously sold out at higher prices (they could sell these at $160 all day, why so low?). All the listings follow a similar pattern.

Maybe pre-black Friday sale? Do you work for the FBI? I think you will be a rock star there and they could use your help solving some email mysteries as well as HF and eBay fraud issues.

LOL, point me to the link or the flyer. I will gladly pay ~$80 for a Daytona jack.

I am kind of jealous because I paid too much for my Snap On FJ200 (it is not even a 3T like the Daytona). Nothing is free in life even it is only a life lesson.
