Impressive. Nice find! Those NOS rebuild kits are nice to have around.

re: Indestro model 248 3-arm universal hub puller
See post # 343 in this thread for image from 1959 Indestro catalog showing the model 248 puller.
Here is the page from the 1972 Indestro catalog that shows the model 248 puller. Note that both catalogs state that the item is chrome plated. It wasn't "chrome" like Cal Custom chrome air cleaners - not all buffed out to a mirror finish - but it was a bright chrome finish.
We rented them out, and in many cases they came back pretty beat-up. My guess is somebody did some touch-up work on yours with a rattle can maybe?

Username I've seen similar sets like yours above listed on Ebay. I think the only thing you're missing is a mess of sockets. Nice find. That box is in great shape!
That's an oldie... just Googled the patent number on that ratchet (1798481) and it says Peterson and McNaught - granted Mar. 31, 1931.

twertsy said:Folks, need a single 1/2" drive 1-1/16 socket. Anyone have an extra for trade?

I had that same set and traded it in to a Snap-on dealer for what I paid for it against the exact same set in Snap-on.My humble 3/8" socket set.
Sweet, thanks!Bingo. Todd, I've got this headed your way.
Nice set, BTW.

Sweet, thanks!
Can anyone tell me if they are at least worth what I paid, that way I know whether or not to buy Indestro stuff at the swap again.
I bought this set of Indestro Super tools at a swap for $11 some weeks ago. I am not a collector but I thought they were oddly somewhat complete and thought I could stash them away for a rainy day or some family in need of tools. I can feel with my hands that these tools are of very high quality, they just seem strong.

1/2" drive breaker bar, 9/16, 5/8, 21/32, 7/8, 15/16, 1, 1 1/16 sockets, along with an additional 9/16 star socket.
Thank you~
You should definitely buy Indestro againOr the related Duro-Chrome or Wizard tools.
I'm not a collector either, but I like to have a little bit of interesting stuff in my box, and I really like Indestro. In my opinion it's some of the coolest stuff out there, partly because it's a little less known and it is good stuff.
If anyone else chips in I'd probably defer to other members for valuation, but to me $11 sounds in range. From what I've seen you won't make a lot reselling it, but you should be able to recover that, so about right on the price. If you're buying it to use it, then what matters is that you like it and find it affordable.

VERY cool find Gerard!Just bought this set of Indestro Super offset double box end wrenches at the flea market for $8. Sizes that are present are 1/2+9/16, 9/16+5/8, 11/16+13/16, 3/4+7/8, and 15/16+1". The 3/8+7/16 is missing but that just gives me a legitimate excuse to dig through any and every box or bucket full of wrenches I come across. The pouch looks like it will clean up nicely.
Probably going to keep this set in my trunk in case I find a nice vise that needs to be unmounted at an estate sale.
Username, that is an exceptionally nice D-I set you've got there.![]()

Great set Jason, I'll check the stash for the proper driver. Unfortunately, I think I only have the one in my set. Thanks four.cycle! I really like the old 1/4" drive sets for some reason.
Here's another wartime Duro Chrome midget set that I put together. Again, all the sockets are marked D-I. The nut spinner is a Walden because I can't seem to find an appropriate Duro one.

This version of the ratchet is sealed with a female/male drive plug like some of their other rats. Here's a pic of the business end.wow! very nice. what are you using for a drive adapter for the ratchet?
Yeah, I haven't seen one either.I have yet to see a 1/4" Duro Chrome spinner listed on Ebay during the last year.... a few Indestro models, but no Duro Chrome.
Based on the catalog, it looks like it may have been flexible, but some period pics seem more like the standard spinner. Great set Jason, I'll check the stash for the proper driver. Unfortunately, I think I only have the one in my set.

Username said:BUT, if you have the 3/8" drive version with no plug... Hazet does make a drive plug that will work. I haven't pulled the trigger on it yet for my plug less version. You can search on Amazon for 'Hazet HZ6413-3 Square Through Plug'

I've bought a few things from her in the past. She tends to "stretch" the historical facts on some of her listings but nothing to stretch on that beauty.Sweet, but pricey 3/8" Indestro set....
