Check this out. This is actually a good deal I think. Made by Bayco. 8 hour self contained battery (on low I assume, 500 lumens, 1,000 lumens on high), waterproof IP-X7 rated, 6' tripod kit with a no screw, magnetic attachment mount for the head (just drop it on, or pick it up to mount the head on the tripod). Looks like it works both corded and cordless, with dual powered chargers I believe they said, so 110 or 12v I'll assume. To compare, the first edition Milwaukee tripod light is $249 online with a charger and battery as a promo, and is 2000 lumens. But, no carry case, it's not dual powered, and this Nightstick tripod kit is much smaller and waterproof.

Re: Cheaper cordless area/scene lighting options.

I checked it out. I'm sure that it is bright, however I wouldn't pay that much for it. I have contemplated putting on or 2 Led flood lamps on the ceiling in the shop to aim down towards the engine bays.

I get it, but this is a portable area/scene lighting system. Not a garage work light. The only other real viable options right now are either investing in the Milwaukee tripods which are not very cheap - or another professional kit from Pelican which is about $700 for a small system. For $140+ dollars this gives you some real capability if your work is mobile.

Spend 50$ more and get a way better Stand that's easier to setup. Better light output and a good battery I can use in other tools...yea I'll stick with Milwaukee.

That's $50 for the bare tool.. for people not invested into Milwaukee this is a viable, versatile, WATERPROOF option, with hard storage case, and a smaller footprint on a utility truck. I have the Milwaukee's myself - they are not east to store on a vehicle with utility doors. That's a lot of real estate you're giving up.. if you're a tow truck driver, or a mobile service truck, first responder, this would make an excellent remote area lighting system. no batteries to loose, and no worrying about the pouring rain either.

Yes the Milwaukee is brighter, but if you're the guy that needs 4 of them for a big area or multiple places at the same time, cost becomes more of a factor.
