Lookup W.H. Salisbury manufactures electrical products for linemen and other electrical workers.
Thanks for the lead. You saw the cast-in =[K]= logo, right? Do you know of any older manufacturers whose name started with a "K"? Also, I didn't see this until I cleaned them up, but the tee-handles on the spindle bolt are marked differently than the clamps proper. They have a "9865" part number and a Circle-M "(M)" stamp. (See the last thumbnail.) Could the clamps and the tee-bolts have been made by two different mfgrs?

My first thought was welding ground clamps as well. However, they have a very unique shape on the inside radius which makes me think they might be some sort of hot line tap clamps for a very specific application. Is anyone here a retired lineman?

Hi Lump, it looks like an old Corvette C4 intake? But you would need to school a non-American like me on the importance of these items. Are they very rare or is it one of those OEM items that is sought after for its performance abilities? $20 sounds like a bargain either way.

Thanks.

Sorry for delayed reply. I drove 500 miles to visit a client for last couple of days, and just returned.

Anyway, lots of American hot rodders like to put Tuned Port Fuel Injection on their cars, because it looks cool, runs very well, starts easily, etc. This set has lots of the components that go with it. Not a huge value, but I think it will all bring easily about $150 US. Just my prediction.

Nice jack.. light assembly is there --looks like just the bulb and lens are AWOL

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I agree, Hemi.

I CERTAINLY don't "need" another floor jack. And in my tiny garage, a "big" floor jack is not a good thing. And yet....

I'm going to the auction tomorrow. I HOPE the floor jack won't go for a reasonable price. If it does...how can I NOT bid on it? :dunno:

yes exactly. those are foundry logos my guess is. i agree there lineman items but to me i'd like them for work clamps. both matching and unusual looking. hopefully they'll handle 300 amps. what diameter is the hole that i'd put the lead into? i haven't been able to find these older clamps on line for specs yet.

Not a lot of sales in my area today.

Pic 1--Nearly full Gallon of Kilz Hide-All, Full Gallon of Prestone Anti-Freeze, Can of SeaFoam Spray, Couple of knives (Walco big one, while looks like Oldfil for small one)

Pic 2-- two different size tire chains (one 70 inches and other 39 inches).

Sailing is getting real slow and about the only thing left is professional (ie overpriced) estate sales. JDD (junk deficit disorder) is starting to set in. A few finds from the last couple weeks:

This little pile was $14. (WTB/WTT: 6" and 8" Crescent wrenches as jaw transplant donors for the duplex wrench)

MIKE: love the old military cabinet and if you want to take a few more pictures and post it up over on the metal cabinet thread i started in vintage tools i'd appreciate it cause it looks like yours is in a lot better shape than i usually find them in. here's the link:

https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=305350&highlight=metal+cabinets

ALL: i've got a lot of catching up to do on this thread and have a bit more time now that it's raining again.

5 inch maybe 120 year old blacksmith vise
6 inch 150+ pound Sawyer bench vise
3 inch Reed 203 with broken dynamic jaw

Thanks for the lead.

Today’s Flea haul also had some prizes in it.

Thanks for the info and time line!!!
No problem, Mike. When I snapped that picture of my stuff from this morning, I realized that one of my flea market bags (the BG-125 Signal Corps bag in the background) would be a good comparison for you and your cabinet straps. It's from WWII.

I also saw a bunch of cool things I did not buy, like this pair of Duff Barrett patent railroad jacks and an Iron City leg vise.

I’m going to post more photos of those in the Jacks and Vises threads in case anyone is interested. Prices way too rich for my blood, although the guy may be more amenable to haggling if they're still there tomorrow.

This may sound strange, but that screwdriver looks suspiciously like one I saw at an estate sale in Milwaukie, yesterday. If that's where you got it, you missed myself and another GJ member who were there when the doors opened.

I did really well on consumables for the shop but am too lazy to dig them back out and take pictures.

The best buys were (12) 7/64" NOS drill bits still in the envelope, several wire wheels, buffing wheels, die grinder bits, and 10 Norton 6" "BlueFire" cut off wheels - the whole pile for $10.

I came home with a few vintage tools, but these two were the highlights of my day.

Starrett 0-1" Micrometer - $3
Starrett 1-2" Micrometer - $3
Snap-on 3/8" ratchet (WWII vintage) - $3
Blackhawk 2724 3/4" single off-set DBE wrench - $3
Plomb 4066 puller - $3

I walked away from an Atlas long bed metal lathe for $200 as I have no place to put it!

I only took pictures of the Blackhawk wrench and Plomb puller.

Brian,
The sale I got it from was off of Terwilliger in the west hills. (not Milwaukie)

I had two planned stops to sales today,1 stop/meet to sell a Starrett combo set I listed on CL and a TOO appeared when I called a co-worker to inform him of some Kennedy boxes at my 2nd stop. I sold the Starrett stuff for $100 and proceeded to my stops.Total spent today was $95 leaving me with a $5 surplus:rocker:
So between 3 stops I got :

It was a long morning. Lots of driving, little in the way of results.
8 stops planned, all in different directions. Only 3 had hits. The other 5 were junk or lies. (although I did see 2 engine hoists and the tub from a parts washer, all overpriced) Spent $27.50 on the day.

First hit, third stop.
A family run estate sale. Had to pass on a delta floor DP w/third pulley. I just couldn't justify spending money on something I don't need or have room for. It was a tough battle. Spent $12.50.

6pk 100w light bulbs (they don't make 100w incandescent anymore)
Proto (USA) 1145 DBE 1" - 15/16"
------------- 1228 combo 7/8"
------------- 1222 combo 11/16"
Palmgren #000 angle DP/milling vise (the ways are religious (Holy))

100_2663.jpg

Then the last stop of the day was at a house that I'd been to almost 2yrs ago.
The first time was an Estate company selling, this time it was the family doing a final sale before it all went into the dumpster. The house had finally sold. The first time was a mad cluster, the garage was so full that we were tripping over each other as well as the contents. You couldn't even get into some of the rooms, the doors were buried.
This time, almost everything was gone. I even discovered a staircase that led to a loft that I didn't know existed the first time. Unfortunately, there wasn't much left. I spent $5 at this stop.

3 totes (all different sizes)
partial spool of cord
Jensen (Japan) 4oz BP hammer

100_2664.jpg

One of the middle stops didn't have any tools either, but it did have a pub table for the Mancave. The table is 42" tall and still has the $120 price tag from T.J. Max underneath. I got it for $10. :rocker:

Great scores posted today guys!

I did OK after a week off. Not much tool wise, but fun stuff:

Not shown was an old Kodak box camera but that got hid from SWMBO cause Xmas is coming... Shown is a tin music box (Plays an awful rendition of "Theme from a Love Story"), 22X Davidson Mfg telescope that should make a decent spotting scope for my hunting day pack; 3D viewers, And who doesn't need more Cow Bell? $10 all!

attachment.php

Drives will recognize this box! My second and a quick check showed its the same size... $5 with the smallest bottle of Roundup I've ever seen;

attachment.php

Stuff inside included (mostly things to toss..)

attachment.php

A Pair of Celestron 8x25 binoculars -$5 I have an older smaller set I bought new several decades ago for lightness, wide field of view, and good low light performance. Hoping these measure up!

attachment.php

From an Estate sale, an old driver, two very short sections of rail (showing before and after cleanup...), and an award plaque that I will mount last year's deer horns on now the brass plaque is removed. Five Bucks...

attachment.php

And we have all seen/bought boxes like this one, right? Only this one is all brass! A buck

attachment.php

Even the hinges are riveted on with copper rivets!

I did make a few literal pickup's while on the hunting trip: I found an old loggers camp dump area and jsut walked around:

Not shown were some blue and purple glass shads for my daughter to make things out of...

A couple of burner parts from a kerosene heaters probably; Small glass bottle and a smaller glass vial with a lid. and three insulators. NOT picked up were a LOT of asbestos gaskets for stoves...

attachment.php

A Mule shoe (I believe), and a lid to a carbide keg. there were a lot of these and I picked one that was less thrashed. this was near a white pile of "Something" and I suspect they dumped a buch of these to get rid of it possibly when the camp was closed. I can't imagine the danger during the next rain for an acetylene explosion...

attachment.php

Close up of the Union Carbide Keg lid.

I feel like almost everything has dried up this last year in central MN.

All the estate sales I would have been even remotely interested in were either Thurs-Fri or Tues-Thurs sales this years.

Garage sales with any decent tools seemed to be Thurs-Fri only sales, or they'd like "lots of tools" with no pics or pics of every collector dinner plate, but none of the tools.

Who the hell does that?

Marking gauge for wood working. There should be a steel point clamped in one end of the "rod" piece, aligned with the "0" mark.

No, this was a cleanout in Essex.
I may go back again tomorrow. There's an itch in the back of my brain that's telling me that I might have missed something.

That Stoneham place sold not long after the last round of selling.
I went by the last day of the last sale and the garage was cleaned out to the walls. The only things left was the furniture.

Found a couple of things today, a Monarch #5212 paper cutter ($1) and a Butterfield General Purpose Screw Plate in a very nice box ($20). The Butterfield set was made in Canada and could be from the sixties, most of the pieces are unused. There are fifty pieces in that set, some are duplicates, all are Butterfield except one tap from Can-Tap in Galt, Ontario.

Ever since I saw Mr Pete show off his small tap handles, I wanted one and now have a No. 0. in my collection.

Good additions to my tool kit.

On way to an estate sale I saw signs for a yard sale. Picked up some vintage phones and cords. All NOS.

I decided to skip the flea market this week. Instead, I went to 3 sales. The last two were busts. The first stop was a return to my last stop from yesterday. As soon as I got home yesterday, my brain started to itch. There was a toolbox marked "engine tools" that I had looked at when I first got there, but passed because I wasn't sure what their pricing would be. When I paid for the totes, I should have gone back in and grabbed it, but I forgot. So, this morning I made a beeline for it.
It's a (well used) Kennedy KK19-547270, in red.

BluePoint valve lapper (missing the cup)

The folding 24” rule is brass, L.S.S. (Starrett), with 8ths on one side and 16ths on the flip side. The old school single end tappet wrench, which is unbranded, is going to go into my little collection of tools from the functionally marked tools era. The midget ratchet is a wartime Bonney V25 and the midget hinged handle, spinner and extension combo handle, also wartime, is only marked 2850 MADE IN U.S.A. I’m pretty sure it’s the Indestro version of the Duro-Chrome tool. A very well-made little breaker.

Really?! Who buys corded phones? Maybe I live in darkness here ...

Odd right? I guess folks with vintage phones but bad cord. Here’s some recent sales on eBay.

Colored ones seem to be more valuable than the black white and beige ones.

Looks like you did quite well Mattblast! Ever see the Storage Wars when Darryl sells the mannequin phone to the phone collector? You could see how bad the guy wanted the thing. He was sick like us with tools!

Jake -if you didn't look yet, that RI wrench is Rhode Island Tool Company I believe. I Think the other unknown tool you referred to is the piston ring groove cleaner. Uh you **** too! All those Proto wrenches!
