Well here is the beginning of mine. It will be a little slower moving than some of yours do to the fact that the wifes house is getting built at the same time. It will be 40ft. wide x 24ft. deep stepping out to 28ft. deep for the last 12ft. One 16ft. door and one 10ft. door. Will be installing radiant heat and a two post rotary lift in the single bay.

No, they first set all of the engineered floor joists then laid the subfloor over the basement. This made them a big flat table to build the walls on. They build a group of walls and then raise them all at once. I am really impresed with the quality of the work so far.

WAIT!! You said: "they first set all of the engineered floor joists then laid the subfloor over the basement"....are you going to have a wooden floor in your garage? And do you have photos of that basement?

No, No, No....This is a 3-1/2 car garage attached to a house. The subfloor covers the basement on the house portion of the build. Look at the pictures a little closer and you can see the house part.

I meant when they set the joists for the house that's being built attached to it. No basement in the garage. The only basement pictures I have are from when we set my machines down there before framing began.

How is this going? Is the lift installed and being used?
We decided to do something similar to this size for our build, so this is cool to see finished.

Curt, no the lift is not up yet. This build is kind of slow moving due to the fact we are also building the house. I will be sure to update this thread when it is up and in use. Here is the latest picture:

On a planet with alot of really Stupid people
That is a Very Nice looking house and garage. I really like the front porch with the round columns. It makes for a very nice look, much nicer then the old cheap turned wood posts. The brick work looks great and I also like the way you installed the overhead door so as to follow the cathredral ceiling. The interior of the basement walls is very interesting. Is this a pattern built into the concrete forms or is it a sheet product you had installed ?
Excellant job all around, you have a home to be very proud of.

Thanks for the kind words guys! The finish on the basement walls was in the forms. It is common around here. I plan to wall off the machine shop area and paint the walls to look like actual brick in that section. I had to have the door installed that way so it could be opened with a vehicle on the lift.

Nice build; your machines in the basement caught my eye, a Rivet 1020 being entombed. That is like having another garage, so you will have more room than the average bear.

Surprised to see someone recognized the 1020F! Most people have never seen one. All of the machines were bought from where I work and will be getting a cosmetic restoration.

I would have to take out the steps from the garage to the basement and cherry pick them out with a wrecker. I have no plans to move, if so I will do what I have to.

I have done this before...

The garage looks awesome, and well thought out. Basement access via the garage is a huge bonus. My next house, will have that.

Yes it was my own design. I designed the entire house on Auto CAD in my free time at work. It took about 3 months of free time to get a complete detailed set of prints.

looks great! I really love the basement access from the garage. Also like how you did the angled garage door. I did mine the same way this past summer and it works fantastic.

Any chance you want to share those designs with us. If I ever decide to move that is the setup I want.

Basement access from the garage is a must, I also see a breezeway to the main floor.

Sure, I will share them with anyone who wants them. Can you open a .dwg file? If so I can email them to you. I am on vacation until the 4th and they are on my computer at work so It would have to be sometime after that. I only have paper copies at home.

might have to get you some stamp $ and get the paper version as I'm not sure what a .dwg file is lol

.dwg is the format Auto CAD uses. You might be able to find a free download to view these type of files on the net?
