Astro Flank Bite sockets and wrenches.....Questions

So looking at these wrenches and sockets, it occurs to me that they may be the same wrench and socket SAE or Metric. Can anyone confirm this? The design is loose fit as it is hitting the side hex, not the corners. Wrenches are 8 piece for both SAE and Metric, I really don't want to buy duplicates if there is no need. What are your thoughts?

Astro is a reputable company and would not sell the same product under two different designations in hope if doubling sales. However some metric sizes are pretty close to some inch sizes and I would think some sockets would work in both systems. We have a fellow from Astro who is active on GJ and I am sure he would address any of your concerns.

Not even close, actually. In fact the SAE wrench set supplements the Metric on sizes the Metric sets misses, so that there are no skips on overlapping SAE/Metric sizes (i.e 16mm/5/8") when you own both.

You can try using a Metric on a SAE size that isn't equal, but it wont fit.

I've been looking at their damaged fastener flank bite wrenches. That was what I was expecting when I opened this thread.

Haven't heard of these before this thread so I checked them out at tooltopia. More expensive than I expected. A nice option though for sure.

Glad to get the answer directly from Astro. Thanks for that, some manufacturers have a size range and I don’t like buying duplicates for no reason.

I have these and they hands down work amazing. They save the fastener and it can actually be reused again, unlike the spiral kind that destroys the head in order to get it's "bite".

Thanks for the review. I saw them on South Main Auto's video a few days ago. They look very useful in IL.

The reason there are not two sets of the lug nut sockets is that there are a ton of overlapping SAE/Metric sizes on lug nut sockets.
