I just took pictures of the receipts with a DSLR camera. Took about an hour to photograph and crop 70 receipts.

But, yeah, I procrastinated. S'true.

"Procrastination is the thief of time"

The deadline is today for submitting your claim, either online, or postmarked today.

I just uploaded my receipts online, and requested the 30% of "You saved..." shown for receipts during the timeframe allowed. When I checked my receipts by date, I saw that a few were later than the Dec. 15, 2016 deadline. That's OK, I still will be receiving over $220 which will just go to buying...more-HFT tools! I wish they had an aluminum-capable welder, I haven't seen one listed. Maybe I'll kick-in some $ and buy the plasma cutter, it looks decent.

I save my receipts, I probably don't need to, but I had a bunch of HFT receipts to scan. I don't currently have a scanner I had a H-P combo printer, but it met with a 'shoe-nuff' problem (below).

I got fed-up with my Hewlett Packard printer x 3 when it started giving me a 'won't go-away' pop-up-window that I could never eliminate after spending hours trying to download a new updated driver, trying multiple things suggested online in various places, and damned if I was going to take it to a shop where they charge me $100 to tell me, "buy another one." So I introduced it to my size 11 in the driveway for wasting my time, and not continuing to work in a home capacity after a couple of years of infrequent use. I wasn't sure I exorcised the demon electrons, so I gave it another couple stomps before I swept it up with my wide aluminum dustpan and deposited it into the garbage. That 'shoe-nuff' got rid of the uncooperative piece of planned-obsolescence gadgetry. I've been reading the ads for Staples, Office Max, target, and the membership clubs, they all seem to have almost identical prices. Office Max is having a 30% off sale for teachers coming up in about a week, so I'm counting on a healthy discount then, as I'm eligible. I've been reading about the Canons, they have good features and are not as-expensive as others for ink. I'm gonna get something, but in the meantime, I had our son scan all my receipts through his scanner, and I made an excel spreadsheet cross-referencing the receipts by date and amount. So, all should be good, I got my confirmation of claim form submittal, enumerating all my jpeg electronic receipts.

It's time to sit back and wait. Between my radial arm saw rebate from Emerson Electric, and this, well, I'm in high cotton! Nothin' bettern' makin' tools pay for themselves!:rocker:

They are coming out with new welders in the next few months. They briefly had them up on their website, but were quickly taken down (probably testing to make sure the pages were ready to launch when they need them to). Someone else caught this, but only caught it in time to find the 140 Amp Mig specs. It will have an optional spool gun eventually offered, meaning aluminum will be possible.

There should be a larger MIG (with an optional spool gun also, so aluminm too!), a small stick/TIG machine, and a larger more advanced TIG/Stick machine coming out still.

Pictures (but no specs) of the other machines can be seen on this page for the welding cabinet.

Good thing I procrastinated. I found another 80 (!!!!!!) receipts. Jeeze. What a hoarder I am.

ETA: and I made all these purchases back in 2011 and 2012 when they advertised the **** out of their fake sale prices. Win!

I'm not a lawyer. I went to http://phoenix.lakecountyohio.gov/eservices/home.page.15. A search for case number 15CV000598 turned up no results. But a search for harbor freight under company name did yield results.

Indicates that case (15CV000598), though settled on 12/15/2016 01:15 P (Case is settled - waiting for dismissal entry) is quite wrapped up yet.

I'm guessing, pure conjecture on my part, that they are probably still trying to work out the terms of the final settlement.

On 08/01/2017 a motion was filed:
Motion for permission to appear pro hac vice, certificate of service, filed. Christopher Bandas Attorney: PRO SE ()

http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Pro+Hac+Vice
pro hac vice =
Latin for "this time only," the phrase refers to the application of an out-of-state lawyer to appear in court for a particular trial, even though he/she is not licensed to practice in the state where the trial is being held. The application is usually granted, but sometimes the court requires association with a local attorney.

Did anyone get their $500 in HF Giftcards yet? I just received a $10 giftcard (as a gift) and thought about this thread.

I haven't heard anything or received anything yet. I didn't even receive acknowledgement that they received the receipts that I submitted....but didn't really expect to.

These things take forever. Delays of six months for lawyers and judges are ordinary and extremely common and no one bats an eye.

Shouldn't really be surprised -- but it would be nice to hear something, yeah.

There's an update posted on the lawsuit website. May see checks in January/Feb if I am reading the order properly. Attorney fees look to be $10,000,000....heck of a pay day for them. Primary person who started the suit gets $10,000.

I'll be curious to see if prices uptick or if this is just a small drop from the HF bottom line.

I doubt it's that big of a hit. I wonder how much money, total, will go to customers? I would hope quite a bit more than $10,000,000 however my hopes are probably in vain.

reading the final settlement order. #5 lists the settlement amounts.
a - class members
b - attorney fees
c - administration
d - incentives
total to not exceed 33 million.

b is 10 mil, c is 3 mil, d is 10,000. so, about 20 million will go to class members.

the timeframe is "after appeals, if any, have been resolved." Looking at the court's docketing system, six appeals have been filed. I didn't check to see if these are filed by HF or class attorneys. Most likely, they're filed by people/attorneys outside the class objecting to the settlement and they get disposed of quickly. this is all to say, it will likely be a few months more rather than january.

:(

i just went through the appeals shown on the court website. they're all filed by people objecting to the settlement and they all filed "intent to appeal" motions earlier in the year, so none of it is unexpected, really. some are class members objecting to the amount of attorney's fees, some are objecting to the settlement.

since the OH court doesn't have the actual documents online, just a headline summary of what's been filed, we have no way of knowing exactly what's going on. these appeals are pretty routine but it's pretty much a done deal at this point as the chances of the settlement being undone are fairly remote. I'm not worried about the money showing up, eventually... :)

lol if anything this HELPED their bottom line. "were sorry we made up some BS on our ads, here's a few hundred bucks in gift cards you can spend in our stores on the products we already charge a 90% markup on"

HF revenue was something like 5 billion a few years ago, they open 3 stores a day, so that 10 mil in fees comes out to 0.2% loss. Not to mention outside of GJ, i havent heard a single peep about this in the news or otherwise. Hardly a hit to their ego's or wallets. Ill still be there 2x a month lol

Segment on my local news last night about a multi million $$$ expansion here in SC to one of their distribution centers. Will employ something like 600 people. Governor was there for the ceremony.

From the lawsuit website:

"UPDATE:

On November 3, 2017, the Court granted final approval of the settlement in its Settlement Order and Final Judgment. Please be patient. Payments to eligible Class members who did not opt out and who sent in valid and timely Claim Forms will be mailed in most instances approximately 1-2 months after appeals from the Settlement Order and Final Judgment, if any, have been resolved."

Cool. They must've resolved the appeals unexpectedly quickly, if the GCs are actually starting to show up already. No sign of mine yet, though.

LOL. Something tells me there's nothing in the settlement about paying us interest on the judgment.

Darn. I was starting to suspect the guy in that other thread received a GC for some other unrelated reason, and it sounds like that confirms it. We still have more waiting to go. :(

I'm hoping for enough to go towards updating my 44" cabinets. Sell mine off and use the credit for the deeper models. Might keep the old bottom to build a mobile work bench out of.

I know, right?

Don't know how they came up with the $ but it was substantially more than I asked for. Let's just say if the bank had been open when I got the letter I'd have gone straight over there.

I signed up for a gift card, to get a higher valuation than the check I would've qualified for, so if the value is getting boosted even further, that'd be great!

I submitted receipts adding up to a "you saved" amount of about $180 (if they approve all of them), and the gift card was supposed to be 30% of that, or about $55. I don't remember what the check ratio would've been, probably 20% or 25%, since I seem to remember that amount would've been around $40 for me. I'll post what I get when mine shows up.

I'd post more details, but I'm afraid if I got too specific it could be deduced who I am. I mean, I know I spent a lot at harbor freight, but the check was more than most people take home in a month...

Glad I didn't ask for the gift card, hahah.

Ahhh... Now I see why so secretive. One of the YouTubers, eh? Cannot remember my exact amount I submitted, but I had a boat load of tools I bought for my sons class and the 44" top, bottom and two sides. Filed for the gift card.
