I should have mentioned this earlier...typically it's the store manager who sets the prices. They should be held accountable for their policies.

Let's get this back on track! Post some pics!
I picked up this Hansgrohe faucet for $40. They sell for $200

I picked up the clamps about 3 weeks ago(these are also posted previously too) and the files, crimpers, sockets and ratchet a couple days ago.

We had a very tiny Restore that lasted all of six months. I was able to score a couple of small motors, along with a handful of 12v adapters. I wish they stayed in buisiness, since now all we have are a couple of pawn shops and a Goodwill. I guess I need to find a Restore somewhere close by. Thanks for posting this, it has given me incentive to find another restore. Thanks for posting..

Glad to hear blkadder!

Here's some from January.
37 pieces of half inch schedule 40 black pipe, 30 inches long, 50 cents each. Several have been threaded, all have been cleaned up.

I just picked up a thousand plus 2.5" deck screws for 45 bucks, I also picked up some cherry stairtreads like 8 or 10 inches wide by 3 plus feet long for 10 bucks a piece and also maple stair treads for 5 a piece.

Got some new in package 3M safety glasses today for 50 cents a pair. I guess y'all know what safety glasses look like.

I've been to three around here -- a very mixed bag, but always fun to look.

I was excited to see a big pile of anti-fatigue floor mats today at the downtown Indy location, but they wanted $15 each when the mats are only $20 new regular price. The mats were used, and many were worn and dirty with who knows what. Looks like they came out of a factory. What's weird is that they posted printouts of the mat pricing from a few places, one showing new mats on sale for just under $15. Odd.

They generally have quite a bit of decent usable furniture at reasonable prices, and a lot of stuff that would make a great refinishing project.

At all the locations around here, they have lots and lots of brand new high-end standalone bathtubs for some reason. Seriously, if you need a nice bathtub, go to a Habitat Restore in Indy.

Well I finally made the trip to my closest restore and it was "so-so." They had some really nice stuff but definitely priced close to new. I get it, it's not the point, it's a donation to a good cause. Maybe I'll try another store closer to the bigger city. Been told much better things about that store.

Try for a ReStore near older neighborhoods. When people get to the age where they don't work on things, they donate. Also get to know the employees (not the volunteers). They will give you tips or openly tell you what they see every day.

I used to go to the restore closest to Napa in the bay area, found both Plomb and Snap-on there, but no big tools really. Just a function of that economy. Up here in Albany, OR I have found a Delta 24" scroll saw, vintage Craftsman Bandsaw and table saw, Craftsman 6x48 sander, but not much good hand tools. Both have furniture, nicer in the Napa store, more interesting up here but a bit more beat up. It all depends.

Found some MT1 bits for .25 each the other day, always enough to keep me coming back.

Keeping-track, the last five times, nothing worth buying (SE Florida), they've reduced the tool and building supplies space and the manager said, "we're going to re-arrange the space, the tools and any building supplies will be in another building," which is already-filled with non-current hurricane-rated doors, windows, shutters, and thousands of pounds of small batches of tile not-even big-enough to tile a small bathroom, for the most-part. And the prices aren't 'good,' I'd probably be better-off hawk-watching CL and visiting the local flea markets.

Lansing Michigan restore is terrible. Needed screen door hardware, ended buying at Menards $2.00 cheaper, would not deal on price, I had tried on other items too.

We were at the right place and time last year. We just happened to stop by local Restore, and saw interior doors were on sale, iirc $2 or $3 a piece. I ended up replacing all of the hollow core doors in my rental property. I think 7 or 8 doors total. They look great after fresh coat of paint, and just made the property looks that much better. Sorry no picture to share.

Bought several box of disposable gloves. $4 per box (100 gloves) a few week ago. It was medical grade, but looking at the dates in the box, they were several years old, and probably pass some sort of expiration date. No problem for me!

I have bought other building materials, light fixtures, etc but never find any tools. I also have donated plenty of stuffs.

One day my bride told me she wanted a new sofa for the den. She described the color etc . Two days later I was in the Re Store and they had just unloaded a brand new donation from a local furniture store which was exactly what she wanted. I didn't even wait for the price to drop. About 50 cents on the dollar and the best part is that I didn't have to suffer through looking through two dozen furniture stores. Yes she is happy with it .

If I don't find another deal there it was worth it.

There's only one ReStore around? Glad I don't live there! Wait, I wouldn't live there anyways. Not enough trees. Or elevation changes. Too many people.....
We have 4 ReStores within a half hour drive. I guess people don't give to charities down there.

Sweet! It's always changing as far as what might be "the deal".

The local Restore moved to a new location last year and it was supposed to give them more room. I haven't been to the new location yet but reading this thread makes me want to stop again.

Yeah, they were picked fairly clean when I was there during the week, only a small handful left. When I was there Saturday, even less. Anything Craftsman goes pretty quickly. It's been a cheap month for me so far, only picked up a sharpening kit and rotary drill file.....so far. There are/were a few large size c-clamps there pretty reasonably priced but I have so many clamps I passed on them. Brink and Cotton, Williams & Jorgensen were a couple of the brands there. I probably should have bought them anyway. :D

I went afar to visit a HFH store in the rarified atmosphere where Seinfeld's parents lived on the sitcom, Boca Raton FL. I presumed that if you want better-quality stuff, go to a better-quality community.

Man, I'm disappointed! The story was just about the same as the Ft. Lauderdale store. Nothing worth getting, and if they did have 'something,' it was priced so-high as to be stupid to purchase it. Some Black & Decker dirty, used side-grinder, $129! That's only three times what you can find them for, online! A bunch of used-up Ryobi powered tools, insane prices, nearly-new pricing! The only thing I found I wanted to buy was a group of 3 books, they were 5 for $1, but I couldn't find two more that interested me so I left with 3.

On the way home I stopped at the Ft. Lauderdale HFH, but there was nothing, I mean, nothing to buy. No tools, no materials, nothing. very disappointing. I did stop at another faith-based drug residential program that runs a big thrift shop and the best thing I found there was a complete Season 1 of The Unit. Dennis Haysbert is always a good buy, in that role.

I'm pretty-close to not-bothering to visit the HFH store unless I'm in the neighborhood for some other reason.

I graduated from high school in SW MI, & a couple years of college. We've been thinking of getting a vacation house in MI but I think it would be better to rent for a season before we buy, to ensure we like the area.

My MI friend with-whom I went to college there has a vacation home on Lake Superior, in Eagle Harbor. You can't get much-further north in MI than that. It's been in the family for generations.

I've been busy as of late, but it doesn't mean I haven't found any good deals at the ReStore! I scored this awesome piece of heavy butcher block. 48"x30" Perfect size for my recently picked up work bench from an estate sale. $25

Last Friday, I went to the ReStore at my normal, noon lunch stop visit. I saw this guy bent over the compressor($45) looking up something on his phone. I didn't have time to wait and see if he was going to buy it because I wanted to hit an estate sale on the other side of town.
When I came back at my normal, end of the day stop, it was gone. No big deal because I scored big time at the estate sale.
This Tuesday I stopped at lunch and after looking around and not seeing anything, I started to leave, but then I noticed the compressor was in the back room.
Turns out the guy couldn't get it to work so he returned it. I'm thinking it's the pressure switch. I bought it for $10!
I'll see if I can get it to work this weekend.

Does anyone else hear a vacuum leak?

Oh NVM. It's the post above mine full of ****.

That's quite a find. I'm guessing the stand is modified. Is that one of the Craftsman saws of that era that sat on a post stand like a bench grinder?

Thanks! I'm not sure about the post stand, but this is the 3rd saw I own that is like this one. This stand w/optional wheels, is super heavy. I unloaded it from my truck by myself.

I've been doing my usual visits and hit a huge (to me) score. Picked up a Herman Miller Reaction office chair. I bought a used one years ago for $200. New, they're $300 or so. The one I picked up from the ReStore on Wednesday, $25 $25! I was floored to see them priced so low. They had four, I bought one and told my uncle about them and he bought one as well. I'm still surprised that there are two left, I'm contemplating buying them and trying to flip them on craigslist.

On the tools front, a set of Craftsman hex keys for $3.00, a Wright 1/2D flex head comfort grip handle ratchet for $8.00, a set of Craftsman P0-P3 drivers for $2.00, a 16oz Eagle pump oiler for $5.00

I did miss out on a 40s era Skill worm drive saw with original case for $35. But I already have one that I got from there earlier in the year for $12.50 so I'm not too broken up about it.

I stand corrected (see what I did there :D ).

FWIW there is an example of the post stand type model I was referring to nearabouts to the 3-o'clock position in that image you posted (Courtesy of FrankLee). I'd seen a gold-colored one like that fully restored in one of our customer's shops a few years back and I thought yours looked to be similar just dropped into a frame, but I can see yours' frame bears a strong resemblance to the one in the one at the bottom left corner of the same shot.

Got this old looking wrench yesterday. Never seen this brand before - will try to figure out later. Sounded European but it is US made.

That's Vlchek! A US company founded by a Czeck immigrant. :) Anything with their name on it is at least 50 years old now.

Yes, that picture is invaluable to seeing options I've never seen or ever will. I thought the same thing about the stand in the bottom left. The picture of the saw I picked up shows the saw dropped inside of the stand, but I don't think that's how it's supposed to be. The volunteers had already started disassembling it or that's how the owner had delivered it when he donated it.
