Picked up some new electronics pliers. Had been on the lookout for some Knipex deals, but happened across these NWS pliers for $9 apiece instead. The 021A pliers on the bottom are especially nice.

Also grabbed the Irwin round nose pliers for $5 because why not.

Interestingly, the Irwins have ESD etched on the back even though they say nothing about that on the package or in the product description that I saw.IMG_20180601_223952403.jpg

So, had an hour or so to kill in town so went to Sears just to see if there was anything I could spend the $10 in FREECASH they keep sending me emails about and saw this display with some nice looking Milwaukee hand trucks that convert to a dolly. Made in USA. Never-flat tires. Sign said $30 (I'm thinking great deal! Snapped a pic cuz I just knew I'd be posting here about it) so grabbed one and took it to the counter with fingers crossed I could also apply the $10 discount to it and walk out with it for $20+tax. That was the plan, but even without the discount for $30 I figured it was meant to be mine.

Cashier rang it up and it said $80. I really liked this hand truck, and I've little doubt it's worth that much, but I just don't have a pressing need for it that bad. I explained I thought the sign said $30, so we walked over there together to check. Turns out the advertised one is for a different dolly, one they didn't actually have in stock. Go figure. I had seen where the sign it said a 150lb one but I didn't see any others nor the weight limit anywhere on these ones they actually did have stocked in front of the sign (turns out on the backside there is a small sticker showing it as a model 36080 and it has an 800lb capacity rating). I just said 'Thanks anyway' and went back to the register to retrieve it and put it back. :(

That's when the manager lady stepped in and asked if everything was ok. I explained the issue briefly and said it's no big deal. But she said it should have rang up less than that because that model should have been on sale also. So we turned around and pushed it back to the register. Turns out it was actually on sale for $50 and after giving her my info there was a $20 FREECASH tools promotion on my SYW account that could be applied towards it. $33 out the door and this sucker came home with me.

Something at Sears made in USA. I thought I'd never see the day.

Poorly assembled in the USA really. And the wheels are the same garbage found on something like a HF hand truck. Junk bearings, junk inner tubes.

You might be surprised. Of course you're right the core of their hand tool line, the ratchets, sockets, wrenches, etc have went overseas, there's still a few things there under the Craftsman name that are made in USA from companies like Lisle or Wilde, etc.

I pass near one on the way to/from work (at least for now, it hasn't made it on the store closing list). Sometimes, usually following their SYW club email offers like '$10 off any $10 or more purchase online or in-store' I'll like to go browse and look at the red-tag discounted and Made in USA items. Here's some of the USA made stuff I found on the shelves there over the past few months.

I have two HF dollies right next to it and this one's a LOT better than either, though both of them are more than 10yrs old the only issues I've had with either were tires that won't hold air. The tires on this Milwaukee one are not pneumatic & don't have tubes. Looks like it is just the frame that's made in USA though so no doubt the wheels/bearings are imported. Whether they turn out to be junk or not for me remains to be seen.

Strouty, I've got a couple pair of the Mueller trim clips and have sold several. Very well made, not sure of the COO, but I think they are German made

I know the name sounds German, but Zoro says they are made in China, not that Zoro is always correct. Just curious, they look like a much thinner edge than my current ones and would be a nice addition if they are decent. I may pick up a single one, I saw they offer sets of the regular length and longer ones too.

These came from Amazon. They only had 1 of each in stock, and the NWS pliers jumped from $9 to around $50 as soon as I bought them. The Irwins jumped from $5 to $20 I think.

For what it's worth, I usually post the deals I find in the Amazon permathread, but sometimes, as with these NWS pliers, the deals go away as soon as I purchase one, so I don't bother posting them.

Got this Snappy scraper and 12" Knipex Cobras for $20 total at pawn. Seemed like a good deal to me. My experience w scrapers is that you can NEVER have too many. The jaws on the Cobra are quite crisp despite the dirty-ish condition

Just bought for my dad for fathers day. Probably over paid at $100, but that seems like what old steel framed benches go for around here. Only problem is the butcher block is split apart at a seam at one part. What's the best way to hold it together again?

Sweet buy. You can run new threaded rod through it or glue and compress. If it was me... I would clean it up a little and just apply a 2-part epoxy resin kit and seal it as-is with the patina.

The plan is to maybe put a vise on it some day. It won't get worked too hard, but I don't want it breaking worse. I wouldn't worry about it otherwise.

Yesterday it was on sale, and today it's here. Free shipping amazes me some times.

Btw, I stuck my 3/8" air rat next to it for reference. I kept hearing how the fuel model was so large that most liked the original one better. But with nothing to reference it too, I find those comments too subjective. Well here is the non fuel model and as you can see the head is a fair amount smaller but for the most part there's no advantage in size over the pneumatic one. But it sure will be nice not dragging the hose into o a car or over a fender.

And next up was items from my long time friends estate sale. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I picked up stuff and put it back down. Finally I took what I could stick in a coffee can and carry in the other hand. Dropped a 20 in the cashiers hand and cried all the way home.

But all the clamps you see are USA and the files are NOS Nicholson. The die handle must have been made by my buddy as there are no manufacturer markings on it that I can find, beside the fact it just looks cool so I had to have it.

I almost bought the green laser, but I really don't want to have any dewalt batteries and chargers, do they make it with regular "D" cell batteries?

I dont know of any that use D cells, there are some options that use AAs though. I already use dewalt cordless tools so even though this is the only 12V tool I have, at least I can use all the same chargers.

Those are beautiful boxes! They wouldn’t stand a chance staying clean in my shop unfortunately

Sorry for your loss Cam. Do you like the Milwaukee pack out Container?

Thank you. And yes I do, that thing is pretty damn stout. It will certainly become my travel box now for bits and minor hardware. I rarely do anything outside my shop in the last ten years. So the setups I had for my work trucks are long gone. Now whenever I do a construction or whatever project for a friend, I end up tossing a bunch of loss **** in the backseat of the truck. This will at least clean up the small stuff.

My Amazon order from Germany finally came in. Roughly $23 shipped. :)

Have to change my coolant expansion tank on my 911, and these are perfect for the all the little rubber hoses that need to be removed. This is a 10 minute job on any other vehicle...about a 1.5 hours on mine due to it's tucked away location.

I got one of those about two years ago for about $20. It has been the best hose I've ever bought. Period.

Pair that with a wall mounted Eley hose reel, and it's a really nice experience to use.
