So while I was deployed we decided it was time for a new house... Bought while I was gone.. Moved from old place to new just days before I got home. The Shop on our lower property will have to wait till later in the year...... driveway, fencing, and other new house stuff is first in line,,for cash.. So, for now we work out of the garage..
Day one Time to start setting up the new Marquez Racing Garage
22x24 ft fully finished space, set up and plumbed as a living space.
It's ugly at this point.. everything not "Inside" house items got piled in the garage during the move. Seeing as my wife and 16 year old son moved our home by them self’s while I was deployed.. I think they did a great job.
Everything is present, just need to get it organized and set up again.
Cant have a new garage without a new piece of equipment to go in it.... (Thats a rule aint it?) So My wife bought me a new IR 60gal compressor for the new house..
End of Day 1 .. and I found a bit of the floor and a place to put the new compressor. Tonight I get some more clean up done, then 6 twin tube 4ft lights get hung and wired.. More to follow.. (the end state is I have a place to do some much needed work on the SuperHawk, dirt bikes and Mustang.. being gone a year at a time creates a large backlog of service work to be done.. :doh: )
Day two of garage setup has ended. Figured it was a bit too late to start up the hammer drill and making holes in concrete
Decent progress tonight. 4 of 6 lights hung and wired, all non shop stuff moved out, all shop stuff found a home on the proper shelf, or a temp location till I build the cabinets and wall boards. Finished up the new wall, installed a better door knob in the new door. (new wall and door separate the garage from the rear mud room to the house. Dogs now have a safe secure way to get in the house, and no access to the garage.) I clearly need a few more lights.. Think I'll use some recessed can light directly above the drill press and grinder / chop saw area. Tomorrow should see the compressor mounted to the floor, the 3/4" steel pipe air line run and a few more lights installed.... If I get home really early with enough day light left.... I may shut off the house power and run the new sub panel for the air compressor and welder. Once that is all done,, it's off to Huston to pick up my other Christmas present from the wife :clap:
Day 3 is just now getting done.. Lost focus and did some non garage things, made a cork / plywood backing for the Dart board and got that hung up.. Then added two 2x4 stringers in the attic so I could mount the back of the new garage door opener.. Added two more lights one over the drill press and Hyd press and another over the parts shelves.. ran a new circuit to power those and more lights later (you know you have enough lights when they can spot you from outer space)
Then the big project for tonight.. add a 100 amp sub panel to the garage to bring in 230V 1 PH .. Hated making a big O’l hole in the brick for the 2 2 2 6 SER cable.. but what ya gona do.
Hung a SIEMENS 100 amp indoor box on the wall near the Air compressor. Wired it up from the main panel,, added two 40 amp breakers and I’m all set.
Put three concrete anchors in the ground for the compressor, bolted it down..and then wired it up to the sub panel.
Using ½ black pipe, put together a short run of air line.. , 4ft riser to aid in reducing moisture down pipe, then a 15 foot run along one wall of the garage, three disconnects each with a water filter.
I’ve ordered a large capacity Coalescing Filter and a 50ft recoil air hose for the ceiling. Once those come in I’ll add them to the existing system .

I have it good...she helped me hang the garage door opener last night and assembled the new lighted hanging pot rack and helped me hang and wire that up.. her sister gets confused sometimes by truning on a light switch.
